  • This paper examines that is extracted certain information in forest areas within high resolution imagery based on wavelet transformation. First of all, study areas are selected one more species distributed spots refer to forest type map. Next, study area is cut 256 x 256 pixels size because of image processing problem in large volume data. Prior to wavelet transformation, five texture parameters (contrast, dissimilarity, entropy, homogeneity, Angular Second Moment (ASM≫ calculated by using Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM). Five texture images are set that shifting window size is 3x3, distance .is 1 pixel, and angle is 45 degrees used. Wavelet function is selected Daubechies 4 wavelet basis functions. Result is summarized 3 points; First, Wavelet transformation images derived from contrast, dissimilarity (texture parameters) have on effect on edge elements detection and will have probability used forest road detection. Second, Wavelet fusion images derived from texture parameters and original image can apply to forest area classification because of clustering in Homogeneous forest type structure. Third, for grading evaluation in forest fire damaged area, if data fusion of established classification method, GLCM texture extraction concept and wavelet transformation technique effectively applied forest areas (also other areas), will obtain high accuracy result.

  • It is not easy to learn simple expressions of moving picture data since it contains noise and a lot of information in addition to time-based information. In this study, we propose a similarity representation method and a deep learning method between sequential data which can express such video data abstractly and simpler. This is to learn and obtain a function that allow them to have maximum information when interpreting the degree of similarity between image data vectors constituting a moving picture. Through the actual data, it is confirmed that the proposed method shows better classification performance than the existing moving image classification methods.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relation between PBS scores and GMFCS levels and to examine whether pediatric balance scale (PBS) scores were useful for predicting gross motor functional classification system (GMFCS) levels in children with cerebral palsy. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed conducted for to evaluatione of PBS and GMFCS using in 26 children with cerebral palsy (16 males and 10 females with GMFCS level I to III). PBS total and item scores at different levels of GMFCS were measured. Results: The hHigh PBS item average scores obtained from standing and postural change dimensions except sitting dimension were observed at the low levels of GMFCS and these results were statistically significant (p<0.05). The relation between PBS (standing and postural change dimensions) and GMFCS levels were was significantly different, except the relation between PBS sitting dimension and GMFCS levels showing a ceiling effect. Conclusion: GMFCS is designed to for classificationy of gross motor functions emphasizing on walking movement and PBS is was developed to for evaluatione of functional balance. Based on the results of this study showing high relation between GMFCS levels and PBS scores, PBS scores can be used for predicting GMFCS levels.

  • Traffic volume is essential data for traffic control or maintenance and rehabilitation planning. The volume especially with respect to the type of vehicles can facilitate to those road operations. In this research, a method for vehicle classification was developed using skewed sensors which can generate traffic signatures. In order to characterize vehicle types, the method investigates whether the second axle of each vehicle consists of dual tires. The presence of dual tire is determined by the discriminate function obtained from discriminant analysis. The validation using 1,878 vehicles recorded from a highway using a CCTV camera indicated significantly accurate results: 96.92% for class 1, 82.91% for class 3 and 79.13% for class 4.

  • Cloud detection and analysis from satellite images has been a topic of research in many atmospheric and environmental studies; however, it still is a challenging task for many reasons. In this paper, we propose a new method for cloud-type classification using fuzzy logic. Knowing that visible-light images of clouds contain thickness related information, while infrared images haves height-related information, we propose a two-layered fuzzy logic based on the input source to provide us with a relatively clear-cut threshold in classification. Traditional noise-removal methods that use reflection/release characteristics of infrared images often produce false positive cloud areas, such as fog thereby it negatively affecting the classification accuracy. In this study, we used the color information from source images to extract the region of interest while avoiding false positives. The structure of fuzzy inference was also changed, because we utilized three types of source images: visible-light, infrared, and near-infrared images. When a cloud appears in both the visible-light image and the infrared image, the fuzzy membership function has a different form. Therefore we designed two sets of fuzzy inference rules and related classification rules. In our experiment, the proposed method was verified to be efficient and more accurate than the previous fuzzy logic attempt that used infrared image features.

  • We propose a new algorithm for pattern classification by extracting feature vectors based on Gibbs distributions which are well suited for representing the characteristic of an images. The extracted feature vectors are comprised of 2-D moments which are invariant under translation rotation, and scale of the image less sensitive to noise. This implementation contains two puts: feature extraction and pattern classification First of all, we extract feature vector which consists of an improved 2-D moments on the basis of estimated Gibbs distribution Next, in the classification phase the minimization of the discrimination cost function for a specific pattern determines the corresponding template pattern. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, classification experiments with training document sets of characters have been carried out on SUN ULTRA 10 Workstation Experiment results reveal that the proposed scheme had high classification rate over 98%.

  • One of the most important problems in bioinformatics is how to extract the useful information from a huge amount of data, and make a decision in diagnosis, prognosis, and medical treatment applications. This paper proposes a weighted kernel function for support vector machine and its learning method with a fast convergence and a good classification performance. We defined the weighted kernel function as the weighted sum of a set of different types of basis kernel functions such as neural, radial, and polynomial kernels, which are trained by a learning method based on genetic algorithm. The weights of basis kernel functions in proposed kernel are determined in learning phase and used as the parameters in the decision model in classification phase. The experiments on several clinical datasets such as colon cancer indicate that our weighted kernel function results in higher and more stable classification performance than other kernel functions.

  • We consider the problem of classifying a p x 1 observation into one of two multivariate normal populations when the training smaples contain a block of missing observation. A new classification procedure is proposed which is a linear combination of two discriminant functions, one based on the complete samples and the other on the incomplete samples. The new discriminant function is easy to use.

  • This paper presents the fault diagnosis of induction motor based on support vector machine(SVMs). SVMs are well known as intelligent classifier with strong generalization ability. Application SVMs using kernel function is widely used for multi-class classification procedure. In this paper, the algorithm of SVMs will be combined with feature extraction and reduction using component analysis such as independent component analysis, principal component analysis and their kernel(KICA and KPCA). According to the result, component analysis is very useful to extract the useful features and to reduce the dimensionality of features so that the classification procedure in SVM can perform well. Moreover, this method is used to induction motor for faults detection based on vibration and current signals. The results show that this method can well classify and separate each condition of faults in induction motor based on experimental work.
