  • In this paper, a three phase cycloconverter type high frequency AC link inverter is discussed. The configuration consists of a high frequency full-bridge inverter and a high frequency transformer followed by a three phase cycloconverter whose switch is composed of anti-series connected MOSFETs with a common source. A simple digital control strategy based on space vector modulation (SVM) and repetitive control for the cycloconverter is proposed although its input voltage is a high frequency AC pulse. The operation principle of the proposed control strategy is analyzed and the equivalent working modes during one interval are also presented. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified through Matlab/Simulink simulations and experiments on a 1.45kW prototype.

  • D-STATCON using the multilevel voltage source inverters is presented for voltage regulation and reactive power compensation in distribution system. This cascade M-level inverter consists of (M-1)/2 single phase full bridge inverter(FBI). This multilevel inverter is a natural fit to the flexible ac transmission systems(FACTS) including STATCON, SVC, series compensation and phase shifting, It can solve the problems of conventional transformer-based multipulse inverters and multilevel diode-clamped inverters. From the simulation results, the superiority of D-STATCON with cascade multilevel inverter is shown for high power application.

  • Designed transformer-less inverter for photovoltaic and small unit windturbine power system. This system consisted of boost chopper circuit of multiple-switching method and full bridge PWM inverter. Transformer-less system was adapted to reduce cost and size. But in this system, earth-leakage current have to be considered. So, to solve this problem, we used PWM inverter switching method to reduce the earth-leakage current which flows in accordance with the variation of DC input common mode voltage.

  • To drive a magnetron injection gun, thsi paper decribes a design, fabrication and analysis results of proposed compact capacitor charging power supply (CCPS) formed resonant full-bridge inverter for electron gun power supply (EGPS). EGPS needs the -40 kV output voltage and 280 kW output power for few seconds continuously and have to be designed for the rise and fall time to be less than 1 ms with the ripple stability of output voltage of lower than 1%. In order to meet the requirements, we used eight resonant full-bridge modules operated in parallel. Each resonant full-bridge module can supply the current of 0.9 A and the voltage of 40 kV, and is operated by N-phase shift switching pattern. In this paper, we present the design, simulation and test results of interleaved CCPS.

  • A high-voltage power supply has been built for activation of the brain via stimulation using a Full Wave Cockroft-Walton Circuit (FWCW). A resonant half-bridge inverter was applied (with half plus/half minus DC voltage) through a bidirectional power transistor to a magnetic stimulation device with the capability of producing a variety of pulse forms. The energy obtained from the previous stage runs the transformer and FW-CW, and the current pulse coming from the pulse-forming circuit is transmitted to a stimulation coil device. In addition, the residual energy in each circuit will again generate stimulation pulses through the transformer. In particular, the bidirectional device modifies the control mode of the stimulation coil to which the current that exceeds the rated current is applied, consequently controlling the output voltage as a constant current mode. Since a serial resonant half-bridge has less switching loss and is able to reduce parasitic capacitance, a device, which can simultaneously change the charging voltage of the energy-storage condenser and the pulse repetition rate, could be implemented. Image processing of the brain activity was implemented using a graphical user interface (GUI) through a data mining technique (data mining) after measuring the vital signs separated from the frequencies of EEG and ECG spectra obtained from the pulse stimulation using a 90S8535 chip (AMTEL Corporation).

  • This paper proposes an inverter for the grid-connected photovoltaic system based on the transformer-less inverter. This system consists of a high frequency DC-DC converter, high frequency transformer, diode bridge rectifiers, a DC filter, a low frequency inverter, and an AC filter. The 20kHz switched high frequency converter is used to generate bipolar PWM pulse, and the high frequency transformer transforms its voltage twice, which is subsequently rectified by diode bridge rectifiers for a full-wave rectified 60 Hz sine wave power output. Even though the high frequency link system needs more power semiconductors, a reduced size, light weight, and saved parts cost make this system more comparative than other power conditioning systems due to elimination of 60Hz transformer.

  • Single-phase full-bridge inverters have shoot-through problems. Dead time is an essential way of solving these issues, but it distorts the output voltage and current. Dual-buck inverters are designed to eliminate the abovementioned problems. However, these inverters result in switching power loss and electromagnetic interference due to the diode reverse-recovery problem. Previous studies have suggested reducing the switching power loss from diode reverse-recovery, but their proposed methods have complex circuit configurations and high system costs. To alleviate the switching power loss from diode reverse-recovery, the current work proposes a dual-buck inverter with a coupled inductor. In the structure of the proposed inverter, the current flowing into the original diode is divided into a new diode. Therefore, the switching power loss is reduced, and the efficiency of the proposed inverter is improved. Simulation waveforms and experimental results for a 1.0 kW prototype inverter are discussed to verify the performance of the proposed inverter.

  • The bi-directional converter interfaces the low voltage battery to the inverter do link of FC generation system. When power flows from the low voltage side(battery: 48[V]) to the high voltage side(dc link: 380[V]), the circuit works in discharge mode (boost) to power the high voltage side load; otherwise, it works in charge mode (buck) to charge the low voltage side battery. In this paper, the 1.5[kW] active clamp current-fed full bridge converter employing MOSFETs is operated to discharge the battery whereas a voltage-fed half bridge converter employing IGBTs is operated to charge the battery.

  • In this paper, a novel 10kV, 50A, 50kHz pulsed power supply based on IGBT stacks is proposed. Proposed scheme consists of series connected 12 IGBT to generate maximum 10kV output pulse and 10kW full bridge phase-shifted zero voltage switching converter to charge DC capacitor voltage. Each IGBTs are sustain the 830V of capacitor voltage at turn off interval. By turn on the each IGBT for the same time it gives the path for the series connection of charged capacitor. From above turn on and off procedure, high voltage repetitive pulse is applied to the load. The synchronization of gating signal is important of series operation of IGBTs. For gating signal synchronization, specially designed gate power circuit using full bridge inverter and pulse transformer is developed to generate IGBT gating signal.
