  • Fuel cell (FC) is a promising power supply in electric vehicles (EV); however, it has poor dynamic performance and short service life. To address these shortcomings, a super capacitor (SC) is adopted as an auxiliary power supply. In this study, the frequency decoupling control method is used in electric vehicle energy system. High-frequency and low-frequency demand power is provided by SC and FC, respectively, which makes full use of two power supplies. Simultaneously, the energy system still has rapidity and reliability. The distributed power system (DPS) of EV requires DC-DC converters to achieve the desired voltage. The stability of cascaded converters must be assessed. Impedance-based methods are effective in the stability analysis of DPS. In this study, closed-loop impedances of interleaved half-bridge DC-DC converter and phase-shifted full-bridge DC-DC converter based on the frequency decoupling control method are derived. The closed-loop impedance of an inverter for permanent magnet synchronous motor based on space vector modulation control method is also derived. An improved Middlebrook criterion is used to assess and adjust the stability of the energy system. A theoretical analysis and simulation test are provided to demonstrate the feasibility of the energy management system and the control method.

  • This paper presents high efficiency control system of automotive 35W electronic ballast for high intensity discharge(HID) lamp using switching flyback converter with variable frequency. Considering performance, size and efficiency of ballast, the flyback converter is designed with planar transformer in converter stage. HID lamp demands a highly efficient ballast and very complex control circuitry that can control complex transient state for applying to automotive. The proposed electronic ballast system is composed of a flyback converter using planar transformer, a full bridge inverter, and a step up igniter. In this system, switching frequency of flyback converter is controlled by varying input voltage of HID ballast and the price and the size of HID ballast using planar transformer can be reduced. The performance and efficiency of the posed system are verified through various the experiment results.

  • For maintaining a reliable and secure power system, this paper describes the design and implement of a single-phase grid-connected inverter with an enhanced phase-locked loop (PLL) and excellent power control performance. For designing the enhanced PLL and power regulator, a full-bridge voltage-controlled inverter (VCI) is investigated. When the grid frequency deviates from its reference values, the output frequency of the VCI is unstable with an oscillation of 2 doubling harmonics. The reason for this oscillation is analyzed mathematically. This oscillation leads to an injection of harmonics into the grid and even causes an output active power oscillation of the VCI. For eliminating the oscillation caused by a PLL, an oscillation compensation method is proposed. With the proposed method, the VCI maintains the original PLL control characteristics and improves the PLL robustness under grid frequency deviations. On the basis of the above analysis, a power regulator with the primary frequency and voltage modulation characteristics is analyzed and designed. Meanwhile, a small-signal model of the power loops is established to determine the control parameters. The VCI can accurately output target power and has primary frequency and voltage modulation characteristics that can provide active and reactive power compensation to the grid. Finally, simulation and experimental results are given to verify the idea.

  • Fuel cell generators as the distributed generation system with a few hundred watt$\sim$a few hundred kilowatt capacity, can supply the high quality electric power to user as compared with conventional large scale power plants. In this paper, PEMFC(polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell) generator as micro-source is modelled by using PSIM simulation software and DSP based fuel cell hardware simulator based on the PSIM simulation model is implemented. The relation of fuel cell voltage and current(V-I curve) is linearized by first order function on the ohmic area in voltage-current curve of fuel cell. The implemented system is composed of a PEMFC hardware simulator, an isolated full bridge dc boost converter, and a 60[Hz] voltage source PWM inverter. The voltage-current-power(V-I-P) characteristics of the implemented fuel cell hardware simulator are verified in load variation and transient state and the 60[Hz] output voltage sinusoidal waveform of the PWM inverter is investigated under the resistance load and nonlinear diode load.

  • This paper deals with a method to minimize the welding time for an AC spot welding system. The spot welding system using a conventional SCR type circuit has a disadvantage of slow control speed and no precise current control. Therefore, recently, the using of inverter type welding system is increasing. Conventional welding machine adopts several tens of switching devices connected in parallel to obtain a huge current of several thousands ampere with a short welding time. This paper analyzed a welding system consisting with 4 IGBT switches for a full-bridge inverter and conventional 60 [Hz] transformer. The simulation and experimental results show the validity of the proposed method.

  • Recently, a fuel cell with low voltage and high current output characteristics is remarkable for new generation system. It needs both a DC-DC step-up converter and DC-AC inverter to be used in fuel cell generation system. Therefor, this paper, consists of an isolated DC-DC converter to boost the fuel cell voltage $380[V_{DC}]$ and a PWM inverter with LC filter to convent the DC voltage to single-phase $220[V_{AC}]$. Expressly, a tapped inductor filter with freewheeling diode is newly implemented in the output filter of the proposed high frequency isolated ZVZCS PWM DC-DC converter to suppress circulating current under the wide output voltage regulation range, thus to eliminate the switching and transformer turn-on/off over-short voltage or transient phenomena. Besides the efficiency of 93-97[%]is obtained over the wide output voltage regulation ranges and load variations.

  • This paper studies the electronic ballast development for 250w MH lamps. We have improved the input power factor using a PFC IC. To provide the rating voltage required In the lamps, we have used the buck type dc-dc converter By this method, the stress of switching devices in inverter can be reduced. The inverter is the Full-Bridge type. To eliminate the acoustic resonance phenomena of MH lamps, we have added the high frequency sinewave voltage to the low frequency square-wave voltage to the lamp. We hove developed the igniter circuit using the L, C devices. We could control dimming of the lamp by varying the output voltage of the buck converter. The time of illuminating lamps and luminous intensity could be adjusted by season and time band. The buck converter output voltage can be controlled and the no load and over current situation were Protected by the development of the microprocessor Program.

  • This paper presents a new prototype of soft-switching DC-DC power converter with a high frequency transformer link which has two active power controlled switches in full bridge rectifier with capacitor input type smoothing filter. In this DC-DC converter, ZVS of the inverter in transformer primary side and ZCS of active rectifier area in secondary side can be completely achieved by taking advantage of parasitic inductor component of high-frequency transformer and loss less snubbing capacitors. Its operation principle and salient features are described. The steady-state operating characteristics of the proposed DC-DC power converter are illustrated and discussed on the basis of the simulation results in addition to the experimental ones obtained by 2kw-40kHz power converter breadboard set up.
