충돌면 경사각도 변화에 따른 분무특성 (Spray Characteristics Depending Upon Impaction Land Surface Angle Variations)

  • In a diesel engine the phenomenon of spray impaction on a combustion chamber wall has been taken as an undesirable matter because of the deposition of fuel on the surfaces, and the subsequent slow evaporation and mixing with air resulting in unburned hydrocarbons. Therefore many researches have concentrated on avoiding fuel impaction on surfaces. On the contrary done a number of studies using spray wall impactions in a positive way, which makes the droplets smaller, changes the direction into free spaces far from the wall and also improves mixing with air. In this paper the angle variations of the impaction land sufrace prepared for the injection spray is analysed as a simulative manner. The spray dispersions, vapor distributions and flow fields are compared with impacting angle variation. The results show more angle give more vapor distribution until $15^{\circ}$.

  • Combustion of diesel engine depends on the mixing of air and evaporating fuel during ignition delay greatly. Variation of air-fuel mixing rate and ignition delay for engine operating condition causes difference of combustion, performance and exhaust emissions. This study is investigated in a turbocharged diesel engine of IDI swirl chamber type. In the results, As injection timing is advanced until $12.6^{\circ}$ BTC, ignition delay decreases. NOx concentration and smoke level in exhaust gas increases for advanced injection timing Ignition delay, combustion period, pressure rise rate and exhaust gas temperature are increased with increasing engine speed. And ignition delay at high load is more decreased than that at low load. Ignition delay and combustion period are decreased with increasing intake pressure. Power increases, temperature and CO, NOx concentration in exhaust gas decreases as intake pressure increases. With increasing load, ignition delay is decreased and combustion period, motoring pressure are increased.

In this paper the size of the impaction site prepared for the injection spray which is raised from the bottom in the piston bowl center is analysed as both simulative and experimental manner.

  • 본 연구는 희박 예혼합 연소기에서 연소실과 연료-공기 혼합부의 공진모드의 관계가 연소불안정에 어떤 영향을 미치고 있는지에 대하여 실험적으로 확인한 연구이다. 다체널 동압측정을 통하여 각각 위치에서 동압의 모드와 각 센서들간의 phase를 분석하여 연소불안정의 원인을 규명할 수 있었다. 연소실의 길이(800~1800)와 혼합부의 길이(470, 550, 870 mm)를 음향학적 경계로 일치시켜 연소불안정 특성을 확인해 보았을 때 두가지 서로 다른 연소불안정 모드를 확인할 수 있었는데 저주파 연소불안정 특성은 화염의 열방출 섭동과 연소실의 공진모드에 기인하며, 고주파 영역대의 연소불안정 현상은 혼합부의 길이를 변경하였을 때 발생하는 또 다른 불안정 현상임을 실험적으로 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Structure of edge flame established in a mixing layer, formed between two uniformly flowing pure $CH_4$ and pure $O_2$ streams, is numerically investigated by employing a detailed methane-oxidation mechanism. The numerical results exhibited the most outstanding distinction of using pure oxygen in the fuel-rich premixed-flame front, through which the carbon-containing compound is found to leak mainly in the form of CO instead of HC compounds, contrary to the rich $CH_4-air$ premixed flames in which $CH_4$ as well as $C_2H_m$ leakage can occur. Moreover, while passing through the rich premixed flame, a major route for CO production, in addition to the direct $CH_4$ decomposition, is found to be $C_2H_m$ compound formation followed by their decomposition into CO. Beyond the rich premixed flame front, CO is further oxidized into $CO_2$ in a broad diffusion-flame-like reaction zone located around moderately fuel-rich side of the stoichiometric mixture by the OH radical from the fuel-lean premixed-flame front. Since the secondary CO production through $C_2H_m$ decomposition has a relatively strong reaction intensity, an additional heat-release branch appears and the resulting heat-release profile can no longer be seen as a tribrachial structure.

  • 본 연구는 연료(수소)층과 산화제(공기)층의 사이에 불활성기체(질소)또는 연료(수소)를 평행분사하는 수치해석을 다루고 있다. 수치해석을 위해서 완전 보존되는 비정상 2차 시간정확도법과 2차 TVD방법이 유한 체적법과 사용되었다. 결과는 3가지 종류로 구성되어있다. 첫째는 연료와 산화제의 단일 혼합층이고, 둘째는 연료와 산화제의 사이에 불활성기체를 분사하는 방식이며, 세 번째는 연료와 산화제의 사이에 연료를 분사하는 방식이다. 전체 유동층의 수직두께는 4cm이며 삽입된 중간층의 두께는 1,2,4mm의 세가지 경우에 대하여 계산하였다.

  • Using the solenoid driven gas injection valve, Hydrogen fuel supply system was made. It was attached to a single cylinder research engine and intake port injection type hydrogen fueled S.I. engine was constructed. Engine performance, emission characteristics, and abnormal combustion were studied through the engine test performed with the variations of fuel-air equivalence ratio and spark timing. Compared with gasoline, hydrogen burns so fast that cylinder peak pressure and temperature are higher and NO is emitted more at full load condition. IN the case of intake port injection type engine, COVimep becomes lower due to the well-mixing of air and fuel, and engine output is lower owing to the low volumetric efficiency. As fuel-air equivalence ratio goes up, the combustion speed increases, and COVimep decreases. NO emission peaks slightly lean of stoichiometric. As spark timing advances and fuel-air equivalence ratio goes up, the cylinder peak pressure and temperature become higher, so abnormal combustions take place easily.

PLIF and PIV Measurements of Jet Flames with Acoustically Forced Coaxial Air Jets

  • Acoustic excitations were imposed to coaxial air jet of non-premixed jet flame with hydrogen gaseous injected axially in the center of the flow. The frequencies of excitation were three dominant resonant frequencies at 1L, 2L, 3L. modes including specially 514 Hz (2L-mode) which was estimated theoretically as longitudinal mode of combustor characteristics. The mixing enhancement by acoustic forcing has been investigated quantitatively using PLIF and PIV. The effect of acoustic excitation on combustion process was significant to enhance mixing rate that coincides with specific resonant frequencies. And the behavior of vortex-interaction on flame structure was a good evidence to investigate the phenomenon of shear/mixing layer of fuel-air jet structure. The results obtained in this study concludes that generated streamwise vortex by acoustic excitation has a potential to enhance the mixing rate and abating NOx emissions.

  • 광학적 접근이 가능한 대기압, 실험용 덤프 연소기에서 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 불안정 연소 동안 주기적으로 변하는 압력 사이클의 위상에 따른 온도를 측정함에 있다. 특히, 연소 불안정에 영향을 미치는 연료/공기의 혼합정도가 온도특성에 미치는 효과를 살펴보기 위해 반 스톡스 라만 분광학을 이용하였다. 본 논문에서는 위상에 따른 평균온도, 표준 오차, 확률 밀도함수 및 1900K 이상의 고온이 발생할 확률에 대한 결과가 제시되어있다. 실험결과에 대해 간략히 살펴보면, 압력위상에 따른 평균온도는 압력위상과 거의 동일 위상을 가짐을 확인할 수 있었고, 평균온도의 최대-최소 차이는 연료/공기 혼합이 양호할수록 작아지는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 온도 확률밀도 함수는 화염 거동과 질소산화물 배출 특성에 대한 기본 자료를 제시해 주었다. 이러한 결과들은 궁극적으로 연소 불안정 발생 메커니즘과 열-음향학적 상호작용을 이해함에 있어 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다 하겠다.
