핵 연료봉 표면보호를 위한 수용성 건식 윤활제 개발 (Development of a Water-soluble Dry Lubricant for Nuclear Fuel Rod Protection)

  • Currently, in order to resist the scratching of the fuel rod surface while fabricating the fuel assembly of the light-water nuclear reactor, we use a solution of nitrocellulose, an explosive material, as a dry lubricant along with its solvent. However, the demand for developing safe and harmless aqueous alternative materials for environment-conservation and field-worker safety has increased. In this study, we demonstrate the preparation of a novel aqueous resin composite using a formulation of aqueous polymeric resin, alcoholic solvent, and water. Subsequently, we characterize this composite on the basis of hardness, adhesive property, and water solubility using plates similar to the fuel rod material. The insertion test of a fuel rod coated with the YS-3 composite shows load values of $18.8-20.5kg/cm^2$, which is comparable with $18.8-20.5kg/cm^2$ of the nitrocellulose coating agent. In addition, the depth and width of longitudinal scratches caused by the YS-3 composite test are 50% higher than those of the standard. We can develop a harmless and safe aqueous dry lubricant to replace the existing NC products through field testing of 264 pieces of fuel rods, after producing 350 kg of the YS-3 prototype. The scratch test for the rod surface showed that weight of chip of YS-3 prototype was smaller than that of NC before and after solvent treatment, indicating the properties of YS-3 prototype was comparable to the counterpart.

금속연료-피복재 상호확산 방지를 위한 크롬 도금법 적용 연구 (Cr Electroplating Technology to prevent Interdiffusion between Metallic Fuel and Clad Material)

  • Studies have been carried out in order to reduce fuel-cladding chemical interaction (FCCI) behavior of metallic fuel in sodium-cooled fast reactors (SFR) using an electroplating technique. A $20{\mu}m$ thick Cr layer has been plated by the electrochemical method in the Sargent bath over the HT9 (12Cr-1Mo) clad material and diffusion couple tests of the U-10Zr metallic fuel as well as the rare earth alloy (70Ce-29La) have been conducted. The results show that the Cr plating can prevent FCCI behavior along the fuel-clad interface. However, cracks developed through the thickness during plating, which resulted in the migration of some fuel constituents. Variation of bath temperature, application of pulse current, and post heat treatment have been conducted to control such cracks. We found out that some conditions like the pulse current and the post heat treatment enhanced the layer property by reducing the internal cracks and improving the diffusion couple test.

연료유 공정설계를 통한 선박 및 함정의 기본품질 적용 가능성 연구 (Feasibility Study of Fuel Property for Fuel Processing Design on Ship and Warship)

  • 국제해사기구를 통해 연료유 품질향상 및 배출가스 저감에 대한 논의가 지속되어져 왔다. 국제적으로 가장 큰 관심사 중 하나인 연료유 품질에 대한 사항은 황 함유량 기준이 현행 3.5%에서 2020년까지 0.5%로 한층 더 강화된 규정을 적용하게 되면서 그 관심이 더 증폭되었다. 즉, 연료유의 기본품질은 국내외적인 연료유 정보, 기본성상, 실선 및 함정의 적용을 위한 특성간의 상관성을 포함한 정보사항까지 요구하게 되었다. 이와 관련하여, 국제사회는 연료유의 효율성과 경제성과 관련된 품질 가이드라인의 필요성을 요구하게 되었다. 이러한 흐름과 관련하여, 본 논문에서는 ISO 8217에 의한 기본 연료유 품질분석 결과를 제시하고, 연료의 점화성, 분산성, 기타특성에 대해서 분석하였다. 또한, 실험실 규모의 희석제의 전 후 데이터 결과값이 선박 및 함정의 운항에 적용 가능한 것인지, 기본품질의 상관성이 실선 및 함정에서의 연료의 효율성과 직접적으로 연관성이 있는지 정량분석을 통해서 찾고자 하였다. 물론, 현재의 연료유의 기본품질에 대한 규격이 일반적으로 통용되고 있음에도 불구하고, 연료유의 성상과 조성이 매우 복잡하여 그 기본품질에 대한 해석이 매우 어려운 것은 기본규격의 범위를 벗어나는 경우가 많이 존재하기 때문이다. 결과적으로, 연료유의 기본품질과 선박에서의 운항최적화, 함정에서의 연료 효율이라는 측면에서 연료유의 기본품질에 대해서 다양한 인자들을 분석하였고, 희석에 따른 그 기준의 적용 범위에 대해서 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다.

디젤엔진개량에 의한 천연가스차량전환에 관한 연구 (A Study on Natural Gas Vehicle Conversion by Diesel Engine Improvement)

  • Natural gas is considered to be on e of the most promising candidates for a clean substitute fuel and a great amount of research on the compressed natural gas(CNG) fueled vehicle has been performed. In this s tudy, we try to understand the property of CNG fuel with using CNG engine experiment. In order to present the direction and application of CNG, we experiment with various operating conditions that is, spark timing, A/F ratio, air quantity and fuel quantity, etc. 11,967 cc engine was used in the experiment and the engine fuel ratio was determined in the way that the performance of dedicated CNG engine is corresponded to that of existing diesel engine. The performance and dedicated CNG engine were measured by changing the fuel injection timing. The dedicated CNG engine was proved to be good in describing the experimental results and according to the actual road test, acceleration and constant speed driving for dedicated CNG engine was better than existing diesel engine.

지르코늄합금의 부식특성에 미치는 Cu 영향 평가 (Evaluation of Cu Effect on Corrosion Characteristics of Zr Alloys)

  • The effect of Cu addition on the corrosion characteristics of Zr alloys that developed for nuclear fuel cladding in KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) was evaluated. The alloys having different element of Nb, Sn, Fe, Cr and Cu were manufactured and the corrosion tests of the alloys were performed in static autoclave at $360^{\circ}C$, distilled water condition. The alloys were also examined for their microstructures using the optical microscope and the TEM equipped with EDS and the oxide property was characterized by using X-ray diffraction. From the result of corrosion test more than 450 days, the corrosion rate of the Zr-based alloys was changed with alloying element such as Nb, Sn, Fe, Cr and especially affected by Cu addition. The corrosion resistance was increased with increasing the Cu content and the tetragonal $ZrO_2$ layer was more stabilized on the Cu-containing alloys.

석탄 산처리에 따른 연료의 표면 물성 변화와 직접탄소 이용 연료전지 성능 간의 상관관계 분석분석 (Correlation Between Surface Properties of Fuel and Performance of Direct Carbon Fuel Cell by Acid Treatment)

  • 본 논문에서는 역청탄인 Glencore 탄을 염산과 질산수용액을 이용하여 산 처리하고 원탄과 산 처리 된 석탄의 물리, 화학적 비교분석과 직접탄소 이용 연료전지(Direct Carbon Fuel Cell, DCFC)의 성능 비교 분석을 수행하였다. 석탄의 물성들을 분석하기 위해 열중량 분석과 가스 흡착법, X선 광전자 분광법을 수행하였다. 열중량 분석을 통해 연료의 열적 반응성이 증가하였음을 알 수 있었고, 가스 흡착법 결과로 기공의 평균지름은 변화가 없었지만 표면적은 감소함을 알 수 있었다. X선 광전자 분광법에서는 $HNO_3$ 처리의 경우 가장 높은 산소/탄소 비율을 보였고, 이를 통해 다양한 표면 산소작용기가 증가한 것을 확인하였다. 연료의 표면 물성과 전기화학 성능을 비교한 결과, 표면의 산소 성분의 변화가 DCFC의 성능 향상에 가장 큰 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다.

  • The development of bipolar plate having high efficiency and chemical properties has a major impact on fuel cell applications commercialization. Even though graphite bipolar plate has high electric conductivity and chemical resistance, it has demerits about mass production and brittle property for commercialization. Hence, metallic bipolar plate can be substitute for fuel cell bipolar plate. Although its inadequate corrosion behavior under PEMFC environment lead to a deterioration of membrane by dissolved metal ions, metallic bipolar plate for PEMFC is more suitable for automotive and residential power generation system because of its high mechanical strength, low gas permeability and applicability to mass production. Therefore, several types of coating has been applied to prevent corrosion and oxide film growth and to achieve more high durability. This work presents durability of coated metal bipolar plate for low temperature PEMFC which made for fuel cell vehicle. This results showed surface treatment increase long-term durability, even electric conductivity and corrosion resistance.

소형디젤엔진용 연료분사장치 전자타이머의 동적모델링과 제어 (Dynamic Modeling and Control of Electronic Timer in Fuel Injection System of Light-Duty Diesel Engines)

  • The simplified dynamic models of the timer assembly in the diesel engine fuel injection system were developed. The first order system with time delay was assumed and the various parameters in this model were obtained by experimental data. These simplified dynamic models were used for the development of control algorithm of the injection timing control system. The PI control algorithm was modified to include the anti-windup property and disturbance compensation. This modified PI control algorithm was used for the control of the injection timing. Improved control accuracy and reduced control efforts were observed.

  • 본 논문은 Indolene-Methanol Plus Higher Alcohols(MPHA)의 연료 특성에 관한 연구로서, 연료의 물성치를 측정하여 조사하였다. 특히 연료의 물성치 중에서 증류특성, 발열량, 인화점, 비중 및 내수성 등을 조사하여 나타내었다. 이때 알콜의 농도는 청정 Indolene의 용적에 따라서 0 에서부터 100%까지 변화하였다. 연료 물성치 측정에서 Indolene-MPHA 혼합물들이 일반적으로 Indolent-Methanol 혼합물과 비교해서 높은 내수성, 유사한 비중과 인화점, 서로 다른 증류특성을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 여기에서 혼합물 물성치 중 상당수는 실제 값과 비교하여 성분들의 중량비를 사용하여 계산하였다.

  • In this paper, a two-dimensional cross-channel model was applied to investigate influence of the gas diffusion layer(GDL) property and flow field geometry in the anode side for proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC). The GDL is made of a porous material such as carbon cloth, carbon paper, or metal wire mesh. To the simplicity, the GDL is represented as a block of material containing numerous pathways through which gaseous reactants and liquid water can pass. The purpose of present work was to study the effect of the GDL thickness and the porosity, and flow field geometry by computational fluid dynamics(CFD)
