Effect of Frequency of Meals on Intake and Digestion of Tropical Grass Consumed by Rams

  • Eight Black Belly rams (45.2 kg) fitted with permanent ruminal cannulae were used in a 2${\times}$2 factorial design to determine the effects of feeding frequency and regrowth age on intake and digestion. Rams were fed with 21- or 35-day old fresh pangola grass offered ad libitum two or four times a day. Irrespective of the regrowth age, there was a tendency for intake to be positively correlated with increase in meal frequency. Differences were not significant (p>0.25). Significant effects of meal frequency were observed in NDF and ADF total tract digestibility of the 35-day grass which decreased as the number of meals increased. Meal frequency had no visible effect on feeding behaviour. Total rumen content increased when animals were fed twice a day as opposed to four times a day. Similarly, an accumulation of small and very small particles was observed in the rumen of rams fed twice a day in comparison with those fed four times a day. These results suggest that studies of digestive dynamics performed at a steady state are not representative of the rumen loading observed in farm rams which have two important peaks of meal.

  • This experiment was attempted to investigate the effects of growing stage, cutting frequency and the level of nitrogen fertilization on the change of carbohydrate reserves in reed canarygrass(Pha1aris arundinacea L.). The results obtained were as follows: The amount of carbohydrate reserves appeared to markedly decrease up to critical level after the cutting in hot and dry weather season. During the growing stage, the amount of carbohydrate reserves decreased just after the cutting and also during the period of flourishing elongation of reed canarygrass. However, it began to increase sharply from the end of September for wintering. Two cutting system showed the highest mean value(19.53 %) of carbohydrate reserves and those of three, five and four cutting system was 15.32 %. 14.73 %, and 14.60 % respectively. Reed canarygrass with no nitrogen fertilization resulted in 17.17% of carbohydrate reserve, however there was no singificant difference among various levels of nitrogen fertilization. In respect of regrowth. 3 cutting system showed the most effective cutting frequency, however 4 or 5 cutting system had a decreasing tendency of regrowth.

디지털 첩 발생기에서의 직교 변조 오차에 의한 대역 확장 모듈에서의 스펙트럴 재성장 분석 (Analysis on Spectral Regrowth of Bandwidth Expansion Module by Quadrature Modulation Error in Digital Chirp Generator)

  • 본 논문에서는 주파수 체배 방식을 이용하여 고해상도 영상 레이더의 광대역 파형 생성을 위한 효율적인 기법에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 또한 직교 변조기와 주파수 체배기를 사용한 첩 변조 파형의 대역폭 확장시 발생되는 3차 혼변조 성분에 의한 스펙트럴 재성장에 대한 근본적인 원인을 분석하였다. 또한 직교 변조기의 진폭 및 위상 불균형 오차에 대한 요구 조건을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 정의하였다. 이와 같은 해석을 통하여 임펄스 응답 특성인 거리 방향 해상도, PSLR(Peak Sidelobe Ratio) 및 ISLR(Integrated Sidelobe Ratio) 특성이 악화되는 것을 최소화시킬 수 있었다. 주파수 체배기와 메모리 맵 방식을 사용한 광대역 파형 발생장치가 제작되었으며, 진폭과 위상 오차를 최소화시킴으로써 생성된 SAR 파형의 부엽에서 발생되는 스펙트럴 재성장 성분을 최소화 시키는 보상 기법이 제시되었다. 직교 변조기의 I 및 Q 채널간의 불균형 특성을 조절함으로써, 반송파 레벨을 -28.7 dBm에서 -53.4 dBm으로 억압할 수 있었으며, S-대역에서 150 MHz 대역폭의 첩 변조 파형을 X-대역에서 600 MHz 대역폭으로 성공적으로 확장시켰다. 또한 부엽에서 발생한 스펙트럴 재성장 성분들을 대략 8~9 dB 정도 줄일 수 있었다.

  • This study was conducted to determine the effects of cutting frequency and cutting height on agronomic characteristics and yield performance of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid, cv. Pioneer 855 F on the experimental field of Livestock Experiment Station, Suweon. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The relative contribution of leaf component to total yield was higher when the plants were cut frequently rather than when defoliated only a few times, and tend to be higher with high cutting. 2. Leaf Area Index (LAI) was the highest at the primary growth of two cutting times scheme and the first regrowth for three or four cutting times a year, but LAI, in general, was not related to cutting height. 3. Crop Growth Rate was the heighest at the first regrowth-plants grown in summer, and it was also related to the amount of stubble left at the previous cut. 4. Dead stubbles were not occurred when plants were cut before heading, but those were accompanied by the frequent and low cutting. 5. Total fresh fodder and dry matter yield were the highest at two times cut a year, and decreased with frequent cutting. The optimum cutting height at two times cut was ca. lOCm height stubble from the ground level, but yield increased with higher level cutting at the three or four times cut a year.

가변 스펙트럼 할당을 지원하는 광대역 전력 증폭기를 위한 디지털 전치왜곡기 (Digital predistorters for communication systems with dynamic spectrum allocation)

  • 인지통신(cognitive radio)과 같이 가변 스펙트럼 할당이 필요한 시스템을 위한 새로운 전치왜곡기를 제안한다. 본 논문에서 고려하는 시스템 모델에서 신호는 한 순간에는 작은 대역폭을 차지하지만 그 중심 주파수가 시간에 따라 변화할 수 있는 상황을 가정한다. 이러한 시나리오에서는 전력 증폭기 출력 단에 위치하는 종단 필터로는 전력증폭기에 의한 하모닉을 제거하지 못하는 상황이 발생할 수 있다. 제안된 전치왜곡기는 기본 주파수 (${\omega}_0$) 신호의 비선형 왜곡을 선형화할 뿐만 아니라, $2{\omega}_0$, $3{\omega}_0$, ...에서 발생하는 하모닉도 동시에 제거한다. 제안된 전치왜곡기는 ${\omega}_0$ 주파수의 정수배에 대응하는 여러 개의 전치왜곡기가 결합된 구조를 가지고 있다. 기본 주파수 ${\omega}_0$에 해당하는 전치왜곡기는 기본 주파수 신호의 선형화를 담당하며, 나머지 주파수에 대응하는 전치왜곡기는 하모닉을 제거하는 역할을 담당한다. 제안된 전치왜곡기에서 필요한 변수는 최소 평균 자승 에러 알고리즘에 의해 동시에 계산되며, 모의실험 결과에 따르면 제안된 방법을 이용하면 기본 주파수의 스펙트럼에 발생하는 스펙트럼 왜곡이 20dB 감소하며, 2차 및 3차 하모닉도 기본 신호의 전력대비 약 -70dB로 작아지는 것을 확인할 수 있다.

Development of Cryopreservation System using Shoot-Apex in Yam (Dioscorea batatas)

  • The goal of this research was to develop an efficient cryopreservation protocol for germplasms of yam (Diosorea batatas), that were cultivated in Korea. Comparative studies with four other cryogenic techniques and subsequent experiments for shoot regrowth were conducted. in vitro-grown shoot-apices of the D. batatas were successfully cryopreserved by encapsulation-dehydration. The maximum survival of shoot-apices could be achieved when the precultured (with 0.3 M of sucrose for one day) and encapsulated (with a 3%(w/v) Na-alginate solution) apices were dehydrated for $3.5{\sim}4\;h$ prior to direct immersion in LN (liquid nitrogen). The frequency of regrowth rate of cryopreserved apices was not decreased during 3-month storage period. The thawing method markedly affected survival of the cryopreserved apices, and thawing at $40^{\circ}C$ for 3 min produced the best results. When cryopreserved apices were post-cultured on the post-culture medium (MS), supplemented with $0.2mgl^{-1}$ of BA ($N_6$-benzyladenine) and $0.2mgl^{-1}$ of kinetin, they showed direct shooting without callusing.

다중반송 전송시스템을 위한 RF 전력증폭기의 비선형 특성과 BER관계 분석 (Analysis of RP Power Amplifier Nonlinearity and BER Characteristics for Multi­Carrier Transmission System)

  • 본 논문에서는 GaAsFET 전력증폭기를 다중반송 통신시스템에서 적용시키고자 설계한 PA증폭기의 측정된 전달함수를 비선형 모델링 한 결과를 제시하였으며 모델링 한 결과를 가지고 설계한 RF 증폭기의 AM­AM 및 AM­PM 비선형 특성을 추정하였다. 추정된 비선형특성 의하여 다중반송전송시스템에서의 증폭기의 근접채널간섭특성(ACPR), QPSK 및 64­QAM과 같은 디지털 변조 신호에 대하여 성상도에서의 데이터 오차벡터의 크기(EVM) 및 BER 관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 RF GaAs FET의 비선형 모델링은 OFDM을 이용하는 무선 다중반송전송시스템 설계에 적용할 수 있으며 전력증폭기와 디지털 변조 신호에 따른 비선형 관계를 정확하게 추정할 수 있다.

Comparison of Cryoprotectants and Cryopreservation Protocols for Eleutherococcus senticosus via Somatic Embryogenesis

  • A cryopreservation is an essential tool for preservation of germplasm. In this study, the possibility for cryopreservation of embryogenic cells of Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus) in liquid nitrogen (-196℃) was evaluated. The effects of glycerol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at different concentrations (5%, 10% and 20%) as cryoprotectants on regrowth of cryopreserved E. senticosus embryogenic cells were tested. There was significant effect of cryoprotectants on regrowth of embryogenic cells (p=0.0019). The highest and lowest fresh mass gain were achieved when embryogenic cells were frozen with 10% DMSO and 5% glycerol (138.2±5.9 and 61.3±14.6, respectively). The effect of the cryoprotectants on the frequency embryo germination was tested. There was no significant difference between glycerol and DMSO (p=0.846). Three different concentrations of cryoprotectants did not significantly affect the frequency embryo germination (p=0.534). Finally, the genetic fidelity of the plantlets regenerated from non-cryopreserved and cryopreserved embryogenic cells was tested by random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) analysis. RAPD and ISSR analysises showed that there was no genetic variation among regenerants.

A Relay Assisted Low PAPR Technique for SFBC-OFDM Transmission

  • The peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) regrowth after the clipping is one main disadvantage of space-frequency block coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (SFBC-OFDM). In this paper, we propose a relay assisted low PAPR technique for SFBC-OFDM transmission. For low PAPR at the source (mobile equipment), the relay processes SFBC encoding, which enables the source to transmit clipped single-input single-output (SISO)-OFDM signals without any increase of PAPR. Simulation results show that the clipped signal of proposed scheme is effectively recovered, and the proposed scheme achieves the diversity of SFBC without the complexity of multiple antennas at the source.

Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumors in Adult Patient with Multiple Lesions

  • Primary atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor[AT/RT] of the central nervous system is a recently described, highly malignant neoplasm that usually occur in the posterior fossa of children. Although AT/RT usually occurs in young children, AT/RT is being recognized in adults with increasing frequency. The authors report 49-year-old man with multiple AT/RT lesions [right lateral ventricle, right temporal lobe and right cerebellum]. Histopathologic findings showed typical rhabdoid cells with eccentric nuclei and prominent nucleoli. Eventhough the tumor was removed, a patient was dead in one month after surgery due to recurrence and rapid regrowth of the tumor.
