Two-Layered Microwave Absorber of Ferrite and Carbon Fiber Composite Substrate

  • Microwave absorbing properties of ferrite-epoxy composite (absorbing layer) attached on the carbon fiber polymer composite (reflective substrate) are analyzed on the basis of wave propagation theory. A modified equation for wave-impedance-matching at the front surface of absorbing layer including the effect of electrical properties of the quasi-conducting substrate is proposed. Based on this analysis, the frequency and layer dimension that produce zero-reflection can be estimated from the intrinsic material properties of the obsorbing layer and the substrate. It is demonstrated that the microwave reflectivity of carbon fiber composite has a strong influence on the microwave absorbance of front magnetic layer.

  • The induced linewidth, frequency shift and absorption spectrum for a molecular dipole in the vicinity of a phase -conjugate mirror have been investgated within a classical phenomenological model, with particularreference to the technique of optical phase conjugation by a surface. While the shifts and the widths show similar characteristics as those obtained recently by Bochove who considered the problem within the context of four-wave mixing, the results obtained in the present model can be defined uniquely with the possibility of an infinite lifetime for the excited admolecule . Furthermore, the absorption lineshape obtained here some interesting features which depend on both the magnitude and the phase of the complex reflectivity of the mirror.

  • A wide band design method of an double layerred electromagnetic wave absorber sintered ferrite which has a flat and an anti-grid shape layers is proposed and discussed. The wide band electomagnetic wave absorber can be designed by the equivalent material constants method for the each layer, As a result the wide band ferrite electonmagnetic wave absorber with the band width of 30MHz to 3670, 3680 or 3690MHz were designed under the tolerance limits of -20dB reflectivity.

  • We have studied sngle-frequency yield of 1.55${\mu}$m DFB lasers with uniform sinusoidal grating using an effective index transfer matrix method considering both threshold gain difference and spatial hole-burning effect. Optimum grating height and mirror reflectivities that maximize the single-frequency yield are found for a low-reflection (LR)/high-reflection(HR) mirror structure and a LR/as-cleaved miror structure for an assumed basic waveguide structure. LR/HR structure has a high yield of about 80% in a narrow range of grating height while LR/as-cleaved mirror structure has a low yield of about 50% in a relatively wide range of grating height. The effect of the low-reflection facet reflectivity is also studied.

  • The unit-water content has a major problem in concrete structures which leads to micro cracks on the concrete during drying time. Thus, the compressive strength and durability of the concrete structures are significantly reduced. Several techniques have been developed to measure the unit-water content in concrete structures such as heating drying, unit volume mass, and capacitance measurements. However, these techniques have problems in during measurement such as longer time, expensive and difficult in analysis of data. Frequency Domain Reflectivity (FDR) is one of the sensors which used to measure the water content. This method has several advantages including easy to measure, inexpensive, and capable of measuring moisture in real time. In this study, an attempt has been made to evaluate the unit-water content in concrete using the FDR sensor and interpret the data with deep learning method.

THE EFFICIENT METHOD TO DETECT DEFECTIVE DETECTOR OF THE SWIR BAND OF SPOT 4

  • This paper presents the efficient method to detect the defective detectors of the SWIR band of SPOT 4. The key of this method are to flatten the baseline of the data using high pass band filter instead of differentiation. This method is made up six steps. First step is to apply image enhancement techniques to enhance the lines imaged by defective detector and improve the quality of an image. Second step is processed by summing the enhanced image in line direction. These summed data have the peaks that represent the defective detectors and the curved baseline characterized by the reflectivity of Earth surface. In order to exactly detect these peaks, third step is to flatten the curved baseline using high pass filtering in the frequency domain. In fourth step, the data with flat baseline is normalized to have zero mean and unity standard deviation. In fifth step, the defective detectors are detected using $99.9\%$ confidence interval. Finally, after removing the detected ones in summed data, the steps from third to five are iterated. Three SPOT 4 images, which have different reflectivity of Earth surface and different sensor, were used to validate this method. The overall accuracy of detection for three images was $97.9\%$. This result shows that this method can detect efficiently the lines made by defective detectors.

한반도 호우유형의 중규모 특성 및 예보 가이던스 (Mesoscale Features and Forecasting Guidance of Heavy Rain Types over the Korean Peninsula)

  • This study classified heavy rain types from K-means clustering for the hourly relationship between rainfall intensity and cloud top height over the Korean peninsula, and then examined their statistical characteristics for the period of June~August 2013~2018. Total rainfall amount of warm-type events was 2.65 times larger than that of the cold-type, whereas the lightning frequency divided by total rainfall for the warm-type was only 46% of the cold-type. Typical cold-type cases exhibited high cloud top height around 16 km, large reflectivity in the upper layer, and frequent lightning flashes under convectively unstable condition. Phenomenally, the cold-type cases corresponded to cloud cluster or multi-cell thunderstorms. However, two warm-type cases related to Changma and typhoon were characterized by heavy rainfall due to long duration, relatively low cloud top height and upper-level reflectivity, and the absence of lightning under the convectively neutral and extremely humid conditions. This study further confirmed that the forecast skill of rainfall could be improved by applying correction factor with the overestimation for cold-type and underestimation for warm-type cases in the Local Data Assimilation and Prediction System (LDAPS) operational model (e.g., BIAS score was improved by 5%).

지상과 레이더 자료를 이용한 LAMP 우박 예측 성능의 정성적 검증 (Qualitative Verification of the LAMP Hail Prediction Using Surface and Radar Data)

  • 우박은 강한 상승 기류에 의하여 빙결 고도 이상에서 수적이 상승과 하강을 반복함에 따라 얼음덩어리로 성장 후 지상으로 낙하하는 현상을 의미한다. 이러한 우박은 단기간 내 국지적인 영역에서 발생하여 농림업 분야에 큰 피해를 미치지만 우박에 대한 예측을 수행하는 국내 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국가농림기상센터 LAMP를 이용한 우박 예측을 소개하고, 2020년 1월부터 2021년 7월까지 발생한 50개의 우박 사례에 대하여 LAMP 우박 예측 성능을 측정하였다. 본 연구에서 조사된 우박 사례의 경우 봄철에 주로 오후 시간대에 발생 빈도가 높았고, 우박의 지속 시간은 평균 15분이었으며, 우박의 직경은 1 cm로 나타났다. LAMP의 우박 예측 성능을 정성적으로 평가한 결과 50개의 사례 가운데 35개 사례에 대하여 우박 예측에 성공하여 탐지율은 70%로 나타났다. LAMP의 우박 예측 성능은 우박을 예측하는 시간이 길어짐에 따라 저하된 것으로 사료된다. 실제 우박 사례에 대한 레이더 반사도를 조사한 결과, 고도에 무관하게 최대 반사도가 40 dBZ 이상이었고, 우박 사례의 약 50%가 30~50 dBZ 사이로 나타났는데, 이러한 결과는 현재 LAMP의 우박 예측 성능을 향후 보완하기 위한 자료로 활용될 것이다. LAMP를 활용한 우박 예측 성능이 향상됨으로써 농림업 분야에서 망 피복 등의 선제적 조치를 통해 우박에 의한 경제적 손실이 줄어들 것으로 기대된다.

  • 초광대역 주파수 특성을 가지며, 제2층에 십자형 슬롯을 가지는 2층형 전파흡수체의 광대역 설계법을 제안하였다 이와같은 광대역 전파흡수체는 등가재료정수법을 적용한 이론 모델을 이용하여 설계할 수 있다. 제안한 모델을 바탕으로 30MHz~3,170MHz의 주파수 범위에서 우수한 반사감쇠 특성을 가지는 초광대역 전파흡수체를 설계하였다.

  • To obtain a high resolution microwave images, back scattering microwave fields from one, two, four poles on a rotating object is measured. A computation algorithm to reconstruct these poles images from measured data is programed. The program is tested for these poles on a rotating object for different frequency intervals in the X-Band. The more frequency data yield the reduction of side lobe level. The reconstructed image for the two pole objects having the diameter of 1cm and separated by 1 lamda, 2 lamda (lamda-3.75 cm) from the measured data is shown. And, the image of two objects having the different reflectivity coefficient from the measured data is also shown and it assumes that this reconstructing algorithm from the measured angular spectrum provides quite accurate images.
