The RF-CBTC (Radio Frequency-Communication Based Train Control) System is a communication system in railroad systems. The communication method of RF-CBTC system is the wireless between the wayside device and on-board device. The wayside device collects its location and speed from each train and transmits the distance from the forwarding train to the speed-limit position to it. The on-board device controlling device controls the speed optimum for the train. In the case of the RF-CBTC system used in Korea, transmission frequency is 2.4 [GHz]. It is the range of ISM(Industrial Scientific and Medical equipment) band and transmission of voice and data is performed by CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) method. So noises are made in the AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise) and fading environment. Currently, the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) is about 20 [dB], so due to bit errors made by noises, transmission of reliable information to the train is not easy. Also, in the case that two tracks are put to a single direction, it is needed that two trains transmit reliable voice and data to a wayside device. But, by noises, it is not easy that just a train transmits reliable information. In this paper, we estimated the BER (Bit Error Rate) related to the SNR of voice and data transmission in the environment such as AWGN and fading from the RF-CBTC system using the CDMA method. Also, we supposed the SNR which is required to meet the BER standard for voice and data transmission. By increasing the processing gain that is a ratio of chip transmission to voice and data transmission, we made possible voice and data transmission from maximally two trains to a wayside device, and demonstrated it by using Matlab program.
There are various 'wireless communication technologies' around us. Wireless mobile communication has evolved through various stages, and its utilization is also diverse. However, due to the development of wireless communication technology, the demand for frequency resources is much higher than the supply, so frequency shortage is serious. Recently, 'visible light communication' has been attracting attention as an emerging communication technology that can solve the frequency shortage. 'Visible light communication' is a communication method based on serial data transmission / reception, and there is a difficulty in transmitting / receiving parallel data because the transmitter and the receiver are arbitrarily present. In this paper, we have studied parallel data processing of visible light communication. We could solve the problem by analyzing parallel data using image processing. Through this study, communication performance can be verified through I / O data comparison by implementing parallel data analysis method. It is expected that diversity in parallel data analysis will be presented through the results.

In this paper, we proposed a hardware(H/W) structure which can compress and recontruct the input image in real time operation and implemented it into a FPGA platform using VHDL(VHSIC Hardware Description Language). All the image processing element to process both compression and reconstruction in a FPGA were considered each of them was mapped into a H/W with the efficient structure for FPGA. We used the DWT(discrete wavelet transform) which transforms the data from spatial domain to the frequency domain, because use considered the motion JPEG2000 as the application. The implemented H/W is separated to both the data path part and the control part. The data path part consisted of the image processing blocks and the data processing blocks. The image processing blocks consisted of the DWT Kernel for the filtering by DWT, Quantizer/Huffman Encoder, Inverse Adder/Buffer for adding the low frequency coefficient to the high frequency one in the inverse DWT operation, and Huffman Decoder. Also there existed the interface blocks for communicating with the external application environments and the timing blocks for buffering between the internal blocks. The global operations of the designed H/W are the image compression and the reconstruction, and it is operated by the unit or a field synchronized with the A/D converter. The implemented H/W used the 54%(12943) LAB(Logic Array Block) and 9%(28352) ESB(Embedded System Block) in the APEX20KC EP20K600CB652-7 FPGA chip of ALTERA, and stably operated in the 70MHz clock frequency. So we verified the real time operation. that is. processing 60 fields/sec(30 frames/sec).
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the importance of brushing before sleeping by comparing the use of oral care products, frequency of dental clinic visits, and oral conditions between individuals who brush and do not brush their teeth before sleeping using data from the 5th and 6th Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey (KNHANES). Methods: Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 21.0 on data files obtained according to a complex sampling design, and a significance level of <0.05 was set. General characteristics of the participants and year were analyzed using chi-square analysis. Data on the oral conditions, use of oral care products, and frequency of dental clinic visits were analyzed using logistic regression and linear regression. Results: Individuals who brushed their teeth before sleeping showed greater use of oral care products and more frequent dental clinic visits, oral examinations, preventive treatment, and treatment for simple caries (p<0.05) than individuals who did not. Individuals who did not brush their teeth before sleeping showed higher prevalence of permanent teeth caries and periodontal disease, as well as chewing and speaking problems (p<0.05), than those who bushed before sleeping. Conclusions: Individuals who do not brush before sleeping exhibit poorer oral health and lower use of oral care products and frequency of recent dental treatment than those who brush before sleeping. Therefore, it is necessary to alter the government's active policy and improve education about the importance of brushing before sleeping to improve oral health.
Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) is a useful tool in researches and in clinical medicine of lung diseases because the BAL fluid contains biochemical and cytological indicators of the cellular response to infection, drugs, or toxicants. However, the variability among laboratories regarding the technique and the processing of the BAL material limits clinical research. The aim of this study was to determine the suction frequency and lavage fraction number necessary to reduce the variability in lavage using male Sprague-Dawley rats. We compared the total cell number and protein level of each lavage fraction and concluded that more cells and protein can be obtained by repetitive lavage with a suction frequency of 2 or 3 than by lavage with a single suction. On the basis of total cell recovery, approximately 70% of cells were obtained from fractions 1~3. The first lavage fraction should be used for evaluation of protein concentration because fractions 2~5 of lavage fluid were diluted in manifolds. These observations were confirmed in bleomycin-induced inflamed lungs of rats. We further compared the BAL data from the whole lobes with data from the right lobes and concluded that BAL data of the right lobes represented data of the whole lobes. However, this conclusion can only be applied to general lung diseases. At the end, this study provides an insight into the technical or analytical problems of lavage study in vivo.

Participants in the Asia Pacific Conference of the Prognostics and Health Management Society 2017 (PHMAP 2017) Data Challenge were given measured vibration signals from motor-driven gearboxes used in pulverizers. Using this information, participants were requested to predict failure dates and the faulty components. The measured signals were affected by significant noise and disturbance, as the pulverizers in the provided data worked under actual operating conditions. This paper thus presents a fault prediction method for a motor-driven gearbox in a pulverizer system that can perform under external noise and disturbance conditions. First, two fault features, an RMS value in the higher frequency zones (HRMS) and an amplitude of a period for high-speed shaft in the quefrency domain ($QA_{HSS}$), were extracted based on frequency analysis using the higher and lower sampling rate data. The two features were then applied to each pulverizer based on results of frequency responses to impact loadings. Then, a regression analysis was used to predict the failure date using the two extracted features. A weighted regression analysis was used to compensate for the imbalance of the features in the given period. In addition, the faulty components in the motor-driven gearboxes were predicted based on the modulated frequency components. The score predicted by the proposed approach was ranked first in the PHMAP 2017 Data Challenge.
To quantitatively investigate the nationwide drought characteristics and to comparatively evaluate the 1994-1995 drought with several past droughts of significant magnitude regional frequency analysis is made for the meteorological stations in each of the 47 subbasins covering the whole nation. With monthly precipitation data for the period of records at the stations in each subbasin low precipitation data series of various durations are formulated with the running totals of monthly data and fitted to probability distributions. The method of L-method of L-moments is used to determine the unbiased parameters of each distribution, and using the best-fit distribution for each subbasin the low precipitations of various durations with return periods of 5, 10, 20, 30, and 50 years are estimated. The drought frequency maps are drawn with the low drought frequency analysis the drought of 1994-1995 is evaluated in its severity and areal extent in comparison with four other past drought of significance. The current practice of safety standards for the design of impounding facilities is also evaluated with reference to the recurrence interval of the severe drought, and a recommendation is made for the future design standard.

In this paper, the acoustic pressure of a helicopter rotor in hovering and low speed descent flight is predicted and compared with experimental data. Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings equation is used to predict the acoustic pressure. Two different wind tunnel test data are used to validate the predicted results. Boeing 360 model rotor test results are used for the low-frequency noise in hover, and HART II test results are employed for the mid-frequency noise, especially BVI noise, in low speed descent flight. A simple free-wake model as well as the state-of-the-art CFD/CSD coupling method are adopted to perform the analysis. Numerical results show good agreement against the measured data for both low-frequency and mid-frequency harmonic noise signal. The noise carpet results predicted using the FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) shows also reasonable correlation with the measured data.

The aim of this study is to utilize system trading for making investment decisions and use technical analysis and Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) to determine similar patterns in the frequency of stock data and ascertain the optimal timing for trade. The study will examine some of the most common patterns in the futures market and use DTW in terms of their frequency (10, 30, 60 minutes, and daily) to discover similar patterns. The recognized similar patterns were verified by executing trade simulation after applying specific strategies to the technical indicators. The most profitable strategies among the set of strategies applied to common patterns were again applied to the similar patterns and the results from DTW pattern recognition were examined. The outcome produced useful information on determining the optimal timing for trade by using DTW pattern recognition through system trading, and by applying distinct strategies depending on data frequency.
The selection of meaningful clinical tests and its reference values from a high-dimensional clinical data with imbalanced class distribution, one class is represented by a large number of examples while the other is represented by only a few, is an important issue for differential diagnosis between similar diseases, but difficult. For this purpose, this study introduces methods based on the concepts of both discernibility matrix and function in rough set theory (RST) with two discretization approaches, equal width and frequency discretization. Here these discretization approaches are used to define the reference values for clinical tests, and the discernibility matrix and function are used to extract a subset of significant clinical tests from the translated nominal attribute values. To show its applicability in the differential diagnosis problem, we have applied it to extract the significant clinical tests and its reference values between normal (N = 351) and abnormal group (N = 101) with either cholecystitis or cholelithiasis disease. In addition, we investigated not only the selected significant clinical tests and the variations of its reference values, but also the average predictive accuracies on four evaluation criteria, i.e., accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and geometric mean, during l0-fold cross validation. From the experimental results, we confirmed that two discretization approaches based rough set approximation methods with relative frequency give better results than those with absolute frequency, in the evaluation criteria (i.e., average geometric mean). Thus it shows that the prediction model using relative frequency can be used effectively in classification and prediction problems of the clinical data with imbalanced class distribution.
