영국 철도화물정책의 변화 - 보조금제도를 중심으로 - (Changes in the Rail Freight Policy of the UK focusing on Grants)

  • Following the recent privatization of the UK railway system there has been an increase in the volume of rail freight. It. Influential factors include the problem of road congestion, and policies towards increasing grants. With a focus on grants (government subsidies), this paper examines changes in rail freight, and the tasks facing the UK railway. I attempt to explain recent trends in rail freight grants and changes that have positively influenced the rail freight. In particular, I demonstrate the trends in rail freight and scheme which link the government and industry. Moreover, I explain the grants scheme and method of calculation, concisely. Finally I reveal the characteristics of UK rail grants scheme. In this paper, I argue that grants have played an important role of in the development of freight and that rail freight is more environment friendly than road transport. This paper have a many important aspects. Namely, an account of the introduction of the grant scheme of UK. Also, I explore the method of calculation of these grants. It will give some lessons for Korea rail. In conclusion, I note some suggestions and those problems which impede the freight transport. In future, the problems of some of these problems should be addressed, For example, the lack of infrastructure and development of an adequate train time schedule in case of rail freight have to be improved.

국가별 철도물류 운영현황 비교연구 (International Comparison of Railway Freight Performance)

  • 본 연구는 국내 및 해외 국가의 철도물류 운영현황을 다양한 지표를 활용하여 비교 검토하여 국내 철도물류 경쟁력에 대한 시사점을 도출하고자 한다. 취득가능한 데이터들을 고려하여 국가간 비교가능한 검토항목과 철도물류회사간 비교가능한 검토항목으로 나누어 연구를 수행하였다. 국가별 화물열차 운행밀도, 화물 열차당 수송량, 화물의 평균 수송거리를 비교하였으며 철도화물회사별 단위수송당 매출액, 영업계수, 직원 1인당 매출액, 직원1인당 수송실적, 단위수송당 영업비용, 영업비용 중 인건비 비중 등을 비교검토 하였다. 분석 결과 우리나라는 다빈도 소량 수송을 하고 있는 상황으로 대량수송의 장점을 충분히 활용하고 있지 못하는 것으로 나타났으며 직원 1인당 수송실적 등 철도화물분야 생산성이 해외 철도화물회사 대비 낮은 것으로 분석되었다.

  • As the brake control valve of freight car, there are sliding valve and diaphragm one. In this study, we measured and analyzed pneumatic characteristics of brake system of the freight car by using real train experiment. The difference of the release time appears in the freight car incorporated with sliding and diaphragm valve respectively. We adapted quick release valve to reduce the difference of the release time and also found that this valve is useful for the purpose.

  • To reduce the cost and the time of transport in Eurasian railroad networks such as TKR, TCR and TSR owing to the problem of different track gauges (narrow/standard/broad gauge), it is important to develop the gauge - adjustable wheelset system to adapt easily to these gauges. The gauge - adjustable wheelset system in the transcontinental railway have been proposed as a more effective way in comparison with other techniques for overcoming difference in track gauges. Assume that the freight train with gauge adjustable wheelset system is running from domestic train network to TCR, TSR in Eurasian continent, it is necessary to estimate the safety of this system. This study is evaluated at examination of safety for freight train with gauge adjustable wheelset system by simulated durability analysis. Moreover, the predicted fatigue life at running track using the durability simulator was verified by the durability test according to UIC standard.

  • This paper is aiming to analyse the prefeasibility study of introduction of high speed rail freight system to transport some parcels for train operation efficiencies. As it does, this system can be meant a kind of multimodal system considering the passenger and freight in the same trainset, simultaneously. First, we implemented the parcel service market survey for customers preference, predicted demand forecast for high speed rail freight, and analysed B/C, NPV, etc.. As the result, this new system is feasible of applying the passenger-freight operation system economically, find the needs such as some revision of motor car for parcel freight transportation at the initial stage.

고속주행을 위한 화차 한량의 사행동 해석 (Analysis on the Snake Motion of One Freight Car for High Speed Running)

  • The development of railway vehicles involves the proper selection of design parameters not only to achieve high speed but also to reduce the vibration of the train. In this study an analytical model of a freight car is developed to find the critical speed. The freight car can generate the snake motion of the lateral and yawing motion of the car body, the bogie, and the wheelset. Numerical analysis for the nonlinear equation motions with 17 degrees of freedom showed the running stability and critical speed due to the snake motion. Also, the vibration modes of the freight car was calculated using ADAMS/RAIL, which showed that the critical speed have the yawing modes of the car body and the bogie. Finally this paper shows that the snake motion of the vehicle can be controlled with the modifications of the design parameters.

IoT기반 철도 화차 안전운송 통합 품질관리시스템에 관한 경제성 평가지표 분석 (Economic Evaluation Analysis of Effect of Train Freight Car Safety Transport Integrated Quality Management System Based on Internet of Things(IoT))

  • Purpose: The objective of this study is to verify the economic validation of quality management integrated train freight car by analyzing economic evaluation indicators such as benefit and cost, net present value, and inter rate of return. Methods: First, we itemize benefit and cost field by reviewing literatures; Benefit consists of 1)Safety, 2)Operation, and 3)Maintenance; Cost consists of 1)Set-up fee, 2)Wireless internet fee, and 3)Cloud storage using fee. Second, based on these estimated values, we conduct an economic evaluation analysis. Among them, benefit and cost, net present value, and internal rate of return are selected. Results: As a result, all estimated values are highly over criterion of economic validity($$B/C{\geq}_-1$$, $$NPV{\geq}_-0$$, $$IRR{\geq}_-R$$); 1)benefit over cost ratio is 28.22, 2)Net present value is 8,121.66million KRW, and 3)Internal rate of return value is 2272%. Conclusion: The findings of this study will help making a decision when train industry adopts IoT technology for improving the effectiveness.

  • It is widely recognized that train Is one of the most efficient and convenient ways for passenger and freight transportation. However, the environmental noise problem is occurred with the construction and service of train. The noise problems caused by train prevent people from living in a silent environment. Furthermore, this problem is related with the right to preserve one's environment. The objectives of this research are train noise measurement and analysis which might be a base-study for prediction of train noise. This paper mainly deals with the noise of the 'Semaul' train. The train noise shows distinct characteristics according to the variation of height and distance. Furthermore, the database and its interface program are developed for systematic analysis and future research.

  • In order to compare the dynamic loading effects of particular trains it is necessary to use methodology that separates the two inherent aspects of the dynamic response of the total dynamic system-the characteristics of the train and a bridge. Because the train signature profile is a function of axle spacing and axle loads, it can be calculated which is independent of the characteristics of an individual bridge. Thus the use of the train signature enables a rapid comparison of the effects of different trains to be made. If the magnitude of train signature for a new train type is less than of existing trains on a route then the route will be satisfactory for the new train. This study presents a quantitative analysis of the dynamic loading effects for various domestic real trains-PMC8, PMC16, Mugunhwa passenger coach, several freight coach, KTX and TTX(Tilting Train Express)- Using the train signature.

대전북(대전 조차장-대전역) 고속전철 연계 운행 구간의 운전시격 분석 (Headway Analysis in Daejeon Nord section(Daejeon shunting yard-Daejeon station) which high speed train and conventional trains will be run)

  • The present headway on KNR(Korea National Railway) lines varies from 6 to 10 minutes depending on the each line and by the operation of High Speed line in 2004, the bottleneck would be expected within a few sections such as Daejeon-Daejeon shunting yard which will be the common mute between KTX(Korea Train Express) and conventional trains. Therefore, KNR would like to reduce the headway of the all lines by 4 minutes with the implementation of ERTMS/ETCS on-board system. Where ETCS(European Train Control system), the subsystem of ERTMS, is Automatic Train Protection system for safety train running. This study will be analyze expected braking distance and running time depending on characteristics of conventional passenger and freight trains and high speed train will be operated within electrified conventional line for comparing the headways of ATS(Automatic Train Stop) system and ETRMS/ETCS system within the Daejeon-Daejeon shunting yard section.
