  • In this paper, free vibration analysis of a functionally graded cylindrical nanoshell resting on Pasternak foundation is presented based on the nonlocal elasticity theory. A two-dimensional formulation along the axial and radial directions is presented based on the first-order shear deformation shell theory. Hamilton's principle is employed for derivation of the governing equations of motion. The solution to formulated boundary value problem is obtained based on a harmonic solution and trigonometric functions for various boundary conditions. The numerical results show influence of significant parameters such as small scale parameter, stiffness of Pasternak foundation, mode number, various boundary conditions, and selected dimensionless geometric parameters on natural frequencies of nanoshell.

  • In order to meet the growing demands for higher storage density as well as lower noise level, the spindles In hard disk drives are to be supported by hydrodynamic bearings in place of conventional ones. However, the existing models are inappropriate to apply to accurate Prediction or vibration characteristics because the Inn spindle tends to take quite a complex shape to secure the performance of the new type bearings. In this context, this paper treats analysis of free and forced vibrations of such-designed HDD spindles based on more sophisticated models and validation by means of experiments. Remarkably, to this end each component in the system is modeled as elastic adopting the finite element method.

  • This paper desfcribes the formulation for the analysis of the free vibration of a circular cylindrical shell with elastic supports by the transfer influence coefficient method. This method was developed on the base of the concept of the successive transmission of dynamic influence coefficients. The analysis algorithm for circular cylindrical shell elastically restrained by springs, which plays an important role in many industrial fields, is discussed. The supporting springs have the axial, circumferential, radial and rotational spring constants uniformly distributed along the circumference of the shell. The simple computational results on a personal computer demonstrate the validity of the present method, that is, the numerical high accuracy, the high speed analysis method and the flexibility for programming, compared with results of the transfer matrixmethod and reference. We also confirmed that the present algorithm could obtain the solutions of high accuracy for system with a number of intermediate rigid supports. And we could easily treat the intermediate support and all boundary conditions by adequately varying the values of spring constants.

  • The receptance method was applied for the analysis of a cylindrical shell with a spherical cap attached at an arbitrary axial position of the shell. The boundary condition of the shell considered here was clamped-free condition. Before the analysis of the shell/spherical cap combined structure, natural frequencies of the cap and the shell were calculated separately and then they were used in the calculation of the frequencies of the combined structure by the receptance method. • Free vibrations of steel-concrete composite beams are analyzed by using the dynamic stiffness approach. The coupled equations of motion of the composite beams are derived with help of the Hamilton's principle. The effects of the shear deformation and rotary inertia of the two beams as well as the transverse and axial deformations of the stud connectors are included in the formulation. The dynamic stiffness matrix is developed on the basis of the exact general solutions of the homogeneous governing differential equations of the composite beams. The use of the dynamic stiffness method to determine the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a particular steel-concrete composite beam with various boundary conditions is demonstrated. The accuracy and effectiveness of the present model and formulation are validated by comparison of the present results with the available solutions in literature.

  • Vibration is expected to occur in microtubules as tubular heterodimers. They oscillate like electric dipoles. Several research studies have estimated a frequency of vibration using the orthotropic model, a beam or rod like models and shell models, considering the surface forces. The effects of body forces on the dynamics of the microtubules were not yet taken into account. This study seeks to capture the body force effects on the vibration modes generated and on the corresponding frequency for microtubules. An orthotropic elastic shell model for the structural details of microtubules is used for the analysis. The tests are conducted out for microtubules, exposed to electro-magnetic and gravitational forces, the transverse vibration, radial mode vibration, and axial mode of vibration have accomplished. We therefore, evaluate and compare microtubules' frequencies with prior results of vibration frequency without the effects of body force.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the natural frequencies and mode shapes of beam-columns on the non-homogeneous foundaion. The beam model is based on the classical Bernoulli-Euler beam theory. The linear foundation modulus is chosen as the non-homogeneous foundation in this study . The differentidal equation goeverning free vibrations of such beam-columns subjected to axial load is derived and solved numerically for calculting the natural frquencies and mode shapes. In numerical fivekinds of end constraint are considered, and the lowest four natural frquencies and corresponding mode shape are obtained as the non-dimensional forms.

  • Axial fans are widely used in heavy machines due to their ability to produce high cooling of engines. At the same time. the noise generated by these fans causes or serious problems. This work is concerned with the low noise technique of discrete. The prediction model. which allowed the calculation of acoustic pressure at the frequency and it's harmonics, has been developed by Farrasat and the Helmholtz-Kir. The newly developed Helmholtz-Kirchhoff BEM for thin body is used to calculate the sound field of the fan that is located in a engine room. To calculate the unsteady resultant force over blade. Time-Marching Free-Wake Method are used. The fan noise of fan sys unsymmetric engine-room is predicted. In this paper. the discussion is confined to and discrete noise of axial fan and front Part of engine room in heavy equipments.

  • Axial fans are widely used in household electrical appliances due to their easy usage and high flow rate for cooling capacity. At the same time, the noise generated by these fans causes one of serious problems. In order to calculate the noise of a fan, we develop the software IFD - Intranet Fans Design. With this software we can design, analysis the performance and predict the noise of fan. The prediction model, which allowed the calculation of acoustic pressure at the blade passing frequency and it's higher harmonic frequencies, has been developed by Lowson's equation. To calculate the unsteady resultant force of the blade, time-marching free-wake method is used. The objective of this study is to calculate the effects of number of blades, rotating velocity, and sweep angle on the noise of fan..
