  • Among the various manufacturing processes of composites, the tape lay-up process of thermoset prepreg has many advantages compared to autoclave or hot press forming. It has a high potential to process automation and continuous fabrication. In this study, temperature distribution of composite exposed in hot gas was studied numerically and the validity of the analysis was verified by the experiments.

  • Ultra wide band electromagnetic energy can be transmitted to a far field by emitting the nanoseconds high voltage pulse electromagnetic energy via an antenna. This UWB EM energy is expected to be used in post-packing pasteurization of food, detection of buried objects or underground water veins and caves and the treatment of waste water or polluted gas. The nanoseconds pulse forming for UWB generation using high voltage blumlein line and an ultrafast switch is mentioned.

  • Electrospinning is a novel process for forming fibers with submicron scale diameters through the action of electrical force. In the previous study, we performed study on the ultrafine PVDF nanofiber production in the stable spinning condition. Recently it would be great interest to fabricate IP(inorganic particle) assemblies in nanofibe. since such IP/nanofiber hybrid materials might be used in a nonwoven form as nanowires, medical gauges for bums healing and cell growing, sensors, chemical and gas filteration.   • The activity of catalysts obtained by self-propagating high temperature synthesis in reaction of partial methane oxidation at atmospheric pressure was investigated. Basing on the compared results of X-ray analysis and gas chromatography analysis of reaction products, the dependence of compounds formation on the phase concentrations in the studied catalyst samples was found.

  • Flame retard of polymers was studied for prevention from burning by various additives stimulated the char formation during heating and thermal degradation of polymer materials. Forming char have high porosity, low thermal conductivity and act as thermal shield for heat transmission from the flame to the polymer and. oxygen towards the polymer. The results showed that various additives may regulate the processes of intumecsence. The efficient fire protective intumescent char was result of processes of melting, gas evolution, cross-linking, carbonization etc.

  • Scuffing and severe wear of the highly stressed sliding components have been very critical problems in the development of a rotary compressor. In order to improve durability and reliability of the compressor, plasma ion-nitriding was applied on the shaft and the vane surface. The effects of different treatment conditions on the mechanical and tribological properties of the ion-nitrided surfaces were investigated. Ion-nitrided surfaces showed better tribological performances than untreated surfaces. The best wear performance was observed when the shaft was nitrided in the condition of 450$\circ$C, 7 hours, $N_2:H_2=1:4$ gas mixture by forming a ductile nitrided layer which has $\gamma'$ phase microstructure. As nitrogen gas pressure increased, $\varepsilon$ phase layer was formed. This hard phase layer was observed to be more beneficial for the vane in reducing friction and wear.

  • Chiral discrimination is the ability to distinguish one enantiomeric form over another. The differential binding interaction between two molecules with the same helicity and those with the opposite helicity was investigated by using dispersion-corrected density functional theory. [5]helicene, tetrahydro[5]helicene and the polar D-${\pi}$-A compounds, 3,12-dimethoxy-7,8-dicyano-[5]helicene and 3,12-dimethoxy-7,8-dicyano-tetrahydro[5]helicene were the monomers considered in this study. In gas phase, the dimeric interaction from two helical molecules with the opposite handedness is greater than from those with the same handedness. The stable configurations of such dimers were identified. The most stable configuration tends to be the one with maximum contact between monomers.

  • Alumina tubes suitable for the support of gas separation membranes have been prepared by the slipcasting technique. These supports have the average pore size of 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ within the narrow distribution. The sol-gel dipcoating process of nanoparticulate sols is very sensitive to microstructure of the support, and the coating on the inside surface of the tube is found to be more successful than on the outside surface. Nanoparticulate silica sols (0.82 mol/ι) have been synthesized by an interfacial hydrolysis reaction between TEOS and high alkaline water. When coating an alumina tube with these sols, the minimum limits of the particle size and the aging time required for forming the coated gel layer at the given pH are provided. It is optimum to coat the support with less concentrated sols stabilized through aging for the appropriate time (more than 22 days) at the lower pH (pH 2.0) for producing a reproducible crack free thin film coating in composite membranes.

  • This article describes the basic engineering concepts to be considered in the application of an induction heating furnace in the hot-dip galvanizing line. Experience in the Dongkuk project in Pohang, has shown that this arrangement has many advantages over the conventional method of using a combustion-gas heated furnace. Investment and operating costs are lower, the line length is much shorter, line operation is more convenient, air pollution is reduced, and the coated strip at of top-quality. As these benefits become well known, it is anticipated that the concept of induction heating will be more widely used in both new and revamped process lines. Induction heating is suitable for the production of Commercial Quality hot galvanized coils. More research is required to extend the present concept to the production of higher forming grades such as Drawing, Deep Drawing and Extra Deep Drawing Quality steels. A combination of induction heating and combustion-gas heating may lead to the way to the processing of these qualities of strip.
