  • Expressions of cellular adhesion molecules (CAMs) are closely related to the formation of early atherosclerosis, an age-dependent vascular disorder. However. previous research provided only limited and conflicted reports on age-related alterations of CAMs' expressions and even much less is known the modulation of CAMs by calorie restriction (CR), In this study, expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), E-selectin, P-selectin and platelet/endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1) in aorta and kidney were investigated by western blot and immuno-histochemical stain utilizing ad libitum (AL) and CR rat. • This investigation was designed to compare the calcification degree of maxillary second permanent molar to mandibular second permanent molar in skeletal Class III Malocclusion. The material selected for this study consisted in standand lateral cephalogram study model and orthopantomogram of two hundred fifty seven Korean Children, one hundred twenty one boys and one hundred twenty four girls, aged 6 through 12 years, having skeletal Class III Malocclusion. On the basis of findigs of this study, the following results were obtained 1. In the stage of completion of crown, there was no significant difference in calcification degree between maxillary second molar and mandibular second molar of both boys and girls in skeletal Class III Malocclusion. 2. From 8 years of age at the stage of beginning root formation to 12 years of age, the calcification degree of mandibular second molar was more advanced than Maxillary second molar of both boys and girls in skeletal Class III Malocclusion.

  • New population synthesis models, with the effects of metallicity spread and the horizontal-branch (HB) morphology, provide a way to break the well-known age-metallicity degeneracy in the analysis of the integrated light of elliptical galaxies. Our models suggest that the far- UV radiation of these systems is dominated by a minority population of metal-poor, hot HB stars and their post-HB progeny, while the optical radiation is dominated by a metal-rich population. The systematic variation of UV upturn depends on the contribution from metal-poor, hot HB stars and their post-HB progeny, which in turn depends on the ages of old stellar populations in galaxies. Our result implies a prolonged epoch of galaxy formation, in the sense that more massive galaxies (in denser environments) formed first. Our models also suggest that the strenghth of H$\beta$ index is strongly affected by HB stars, and hence previous age estimation without detailed modeling of the HB would underestimate the ages of ellipticals by $\~$7 Gyr.

  • The author surveyed the tooth development of 50 cleft affected children(M: 34, F:16). The following results were obtained. 1. The difference between the chronologic age and dental age was 0.61 years in the cleft group and 0.15 years in the control group. The delay in tooth development was observed in the cleft group. 2, In the cleft group, there was no difference in the delay of tooth development between the boys and the girls. 3. In the cleft group, there was no difference in the delay of tooth development between the maxilla and the mandible. 4. The delay of tooth development was more severe in the bilateral cleft group than in the unilateral cleft group. 5. In the unilateral cleft, there was no difference in tooth formation between the cleft side and corresponding side.

  • This retrospective study was performed in 40 cases of canine crystalluria and urinary tract symptoms. Breed, age, sex, diet history and common clinical signs were investigated for patient information. CBC, serum chemistry, urinalysis, urine culture, urine sediment and urinary stone analysis were undertaken for clinicopathological diagnosis. Crystalluria and urinary tract symptoms occurred from 6 months till 14 years in this clinical investigation and the average age was 4.68 years. It had taken an average 7.4 weeks to correct crystalluria and urinary tract symptoms treated by supportive therapy and dietary management. In conclusion, regular clinical pathologic examination, treatment and diet management should be needed to prevent the formation of urolithiasis and urinary tract diseases in dogs with crystalluria and urinary tract symptoms.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the stratigraphy of the volcanic rocks in the Chilpo-Weolpo area, the north of Pohang basin, based on field survey and lithological properties of the rocks. The volcanic pile(Chilpo tuff) overlies the Cretaceous sedimentary formation and is unconformably overlain by the Miocene Yeonil Group. The Chilpo tuff comprises a thick sequence(>200m) of pyroclastic flow deposits. Five members are distinguished, each representing separate flow units, comprising none(or weakly) to densely welded rhyolite tuff. The Chilpo tuff consists of, in ascending order, greenish weakly welded tuff, volcanic conglomerate, alternation of tuff breccias and fine tuffs, greenish none to densely welded tuff and red-brownish densely to weakly welded vitric tuff. This study revealed that the volcanic rocks in this area were formed by 4 volcanic stages. On the basis of K-Ar age($44.7{\pm}1.1\;Ma$) and lithologic data, geological age of the Chilpo tuff may be Eocene.

  • Based on increasing concave ordering a new class of life distribution is introduced. The new class of life distribution is named used better than aged in increasing concave ordering and is denoted by UBAC(2). The implication of our proposed class of life distribution with other classes is given. The properties of UBAC(2) under convolution, discrete mixture and formation of a coherent system are studied. Finally a characterization of the proposed class of life distributions by Laplace transform is discussed.

  • This study was designed to examine the affect health promotion behavior to emotional happiness for 20-30's in Korea through cross-sectional descriptive research. There were a total of 279 people who participated in this study, 198(71.0%) were males and 81(29.0%) were females. The data collection period was from December 1 to 15, 2018. The tools used to measure health promotion behaviors were HPB (Health Promotion Behavior) developed by Walker et al., and emotional happiness was PANAS (Positive and Negative Affect Scale) by Developed by Watson et al., All data was analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program. As a result of analysis, 62 (49.6%) were solving interpersonal problems and stress relief while drinking, and the people who ate twice a day were most frequent. In conclusion, health promotion behaviors have a strong correlation with emotional happiness. Based on the above results, it was suggested that the program of happiness for lining in the 20-30s age groups should strengthen the contents of health responsibility, guidance of substance abuse, formation of social relations and self actualization.

  • Recent observations on the double red clumps in the bulge validate the close connection in stellar populations between Galactic globular clusters (GCs) and the Milky Way (MW) bulge. Intriguingly, diverse phenomena observed in early-type galaxies (ETGs) and their GC systems are also indicating the similarities with Galactic GCs with multiple populations. Here, we present the population synthesis for the Galactic bulge and ETGs using stellar populations observed in the Galactic GCs with multiple populations. Our new models well explain observations of both the MW bulge and ETGs. Also, the inclusion of GC-originated population to the population synthesis model shows substantial impacts on the age-dating of stellar populations. The implication of this result for the interpretation of the formation history and the age-dating of ETGs will be discussed in detail.

  • Gyeongsangnam-do needed an employment stability response policy to induce re-employment of job seekers who retired due to large-scale unemployment and job instability following the employment crisis, and stable settlement and long-term employment after new employment. This study is to confirm the effective corporate support policy as an employment promotion strategy through new recruitment of the employment crisis in Gyeongsangnam-do. A total of 380 companies in Gyeongsangnam-do were targeted for the survey through online surveys and in-person surveys. As a result of the study, as a measure to improve working conditions through financial support for long-term employment stability, first, support for youth-middle-age asset formation of SME workers is required, and second, support for old-age income guarantee for SME workers was proposed. Third, direct corporate subsidies are continuously needed for job promotion and job stability of Gyeongsangnam-do companies.
