  • Tracking filter plays a key role in accurate estimation and prediction of maneuvering vessel's dynamics. The third-order ${\alpha}-{\beta}-{\gamma}$ filter is one of the special cases of the general solution provided by the Kalman filter. Fading memory algorithm performs a better performance in numerous of ${\alpha}-{\beta}-{\gamma}$ filter algorithms. This study aims to optimize the fourth-order fading memory algorithm ${\alpha}-{\beta}-{\gamma}-{\eta}$ filter, which is extended form ${\alpha}-{\beta}-{\gamma}$ filter, to get much more accurate position of high dynamic target on the condition that the own ship is also high dynamic.

  • In the present work, a microelogated thermoelastic model based on Lord-Shulman (1967) and Green-Lindsay (1972) theories of thermoelasticity has been constructed. The governing equations for the simulated model are converted into two-dimensional case and made dimensionless for further simplification. Laplace and Hankel transforms followed by eigen value approach has been employed to solve the problem. The use of eigen value approach hasthe advantage of finding the solution of governing equationsin matrix form notations. This approach is straight forward and convenient for numerical computation and avoids the complicate nature of the problem. The components of displacement, stress and temperature distribution are obtained in the transformed domain. Numerical inversion techniques have been used to invert the resulting quantities in the physical domain. Graphical representation of the resulting quantities for describing the effect of microelongation are presented. A special case is also deduced from the present investigation. The problem find application in many engineering problems like thick-walled pressure vesselsuch as a nuclear containment vessel, a cylindricalroller etc.

  • The paper presents a summary of the multidisciplinary/optimization method for the preliminary design of container feeder vessel. The current scenario in the ship building industry highly focuses on container ship design and construction proving the inherent demand in maritime industry. The design accomplishes the outer circle of the design spiral giving stress in areas of Hull Form Design, Resistance & Propulsion. Empirical relations, model test results, data from built ships, class rules and latest market demands stood as the criteria for the design. Optimization of the design as per the owners requirement. class rules, and the trade route selected are the major challenges met with. Strength. reliability, structural safety and stability have been incorporated in compromising standards.

  • Nanoimprint lithography (NIL) is the next generation photolithography process in which the photoresist is dispensed onto the substrate in its liquid form and then imprinted and cured into a desired pattern instead of using traditional optical system. There have been considerable attentions on NIL due to its potential abilities that enable cost-effective and high-throughput nanofabrication to the display device and semiconductor industry. In this paper, a pressure vessel type imprinting system was used to imprint patterns with two type pressure values (25 bar, 30 bar) and two type pressure keeping times (5 min, 10 min). The height of transferred pattern and the thickness of residual layer were measured and effects of pressurization conditions - pressure and pressure keeping time - on the pattern transfer in thermal NIL were investigated.

  • Angiotensin I converting enzyme [EC 3.4.15.11 (ACE) is important in the maintenance of blood pressure. The enzyme removes histidyl-leucine from angiotensin I to form the blood-vessel-constricting octapeptide, angiotensin II, and degrades vasodilative bradykinin in blood vessels and stimulates e release of aldosterone in the adrenal cortex. • Modified-Shrink-Fit(MSF) method of compound cylinder is studied to increase elastic load carrying capacity (ELCC) of pressure vessel. The autofrettage and the shrink-fit processes are used to study the MSF process. Theoretical analyses based on the Tresca yield criterion, Hencky's total strain theory and elastic linearly strain-hardening material are carried out to derive closed form solutions. Experimental results are compared with theoretical results with various diameter ratios between outer (SM45C) and inner (SM20C) bloc cylinder. For various diameter ratios, increments of ELCC have errors in strains vs. internal loading pressures between experimental and theoretical results. But experimental results show good agreements with theoretical results in reyield pressurizing state. The increments of ELCC of compound cylinder manufactured by the MSF process is proved by measuring the residual stresses.

  • There is at present a growing interest in the use of SWATH(Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull )ship for a variety of purposes due to their good seakeeping characteristics, small speed reduction in wave, and large deck area. Highly sophisticated design technology is requested to develop the SWATH ship. This paper describes the design technology for high speed coastal passenger SWATH ship which includes feasibility study, general arrangement and hull form design, resistance and propulsion test, motion test in regular waves, control fin design, and structural design.

  • The analysis and investigation are described for White's[2] equations compared to the equations of Runeburg[3] and Milano[5] for continuous icebreaking mode, Tunik[8-1] and Ghoneim[8-2] for ramming icebreaking mode. Calculation results compare reasonably well with published model-scale and full-scale icebreaker data by Baker[1] and Dick[11]. During continuous and ramming mode operation, using characteristics of an incebreaker, down ward force on ice and standard ice thickness broken are predicted. Additionally draft, trim and extraction difficulty are also predicted. The bow part line of an icebreakin $g^{ply}$ vessel is designed aiming to maximize the ice breaking capabiltiy as following conditions-low bow angle[20 degrees] at designed waterline, small spread angle complement [6 degrees] at designed waterline, small spread angle complement [6 degrees] and high propeller thrust [220tons]. with plow, two reamers and wave type bumper.

  • We have experienced a case of communicating bronchopulmonary malformation. A 35-year-old female patient was admitted for coughing with sputum. About eight years ago, she had treated for bronchiectasis with medication. Chest computed tomography revealed esophagopulmonary communication with upper esophageal dilatation and bronchiectasis of the left lower lobe. A about 3 mm diameteded abnormal feeding vessel from descending thoracic aorta to the left lower lobe was detected at operation. Division and closure of the communication between the esophagus and left lower lobe was performed. Communicating bronchopulmonary malformation is the rare form of pulmonary sequestion and chest computed tomography is one of the useful diagnostic methods for pulmonary sequestion.
