A Study on Generation of Parallel Task in High Performance Language (고성능 언어에서의 병렬 태스크 생성에 관한 연구)

  • In task parallel language like Fortran M, programmer writes a task parallel program using parallel constructs which is provided. When some data dependencies exist between called procedures in various applications, it is difficult for programmer to write program according to their dependencies. Therefore, it is desirous that compiler can detect some implicit parallelisms and transform a program to parallelized form by using the task parallel constructs like PROCESSES block or PROCESSDO loop of Fortran M. But current task parallel language compilers can't provide these works. In this paper, we analyze the cases according to dependence relations and detect the implicit parallelism which can be transformed to task parallel constructs like PROCESSES block and PROCESSDO loop of Fortran M. Also, For the case which program can be paralleized both PROCESSES block and PROCESSDO loop, we analyze that which construct is more effective for various conditions.

Designing a Quantizer of LPC Parameters for the Narrowband Speech Coder using Block-Constrained Trellis Coded Quantization (블록 제한 트렐리스 부호화 양자화 기법을 이용한 협대역 음성 부호화기용 LPC 계수 양자화기 설계)

  • In this paper, low complexity block constrained trellis coded quantization (BC-TCQ) structures are introduced, and a predictive BC TCQ encoding method is developed for quantization of line spectrum frequencies (LSF) parameters for narrowband speech coding applications. Trellis-coded quantization(TCQ) is a form of VQ that builds the VQ codebook from interleaved constituent scalar quantization codebooks. The performance is compared to the other VQ, demonstrating reduction in spectral distortion and significant reduction in encoding complexity. The predictive BC-TCQ is about 0.47107 dB superior to the IS-641 split-VQ, 26bits/frame, in spectral distortion sense. The BC-TCQ is 64.54%, 76.93%, 2.35% of the IS-641 split-VQ, respectively, in the complexity of the additions, multiplies, comparisons.

Hydration Heat Analysis of Mass Concrete considering Heat Transfer Coefficient and Hydration Heat Difference (수화발열량차 및 열전달계수 변화를 고려한 매스콘크리트의 수화열 해석)

  • In recent large-scale structures, as mass concrete type structure is frequently applied to the building, temperature crack due to hydration heat needs to be considered. Since a volume change is internally or externally restricted in a mold after placing concrete, temperature crack of mass concrete takes place. By this reason, the reduction method to control this crack is required. In this study, low heat mixture and hydration heat difference is used to execute the analysis of hydration heat, considering the changes of heat transfer coefficient according to curing conditions and block placement of mass concrete. For the analytical modelling, original portland cement and concrete of low heat mixture are placed in the upper and lower payer, respectively. A convection boundary condition is fixed because mass concrete of block placement is characterized by the difference of mold form and curing condition. Through the analysis results considering the changes of low heat mixture, block placement, and heat transfer coefficient, we check out the temperature and stress distribution and analyze the temperature crack reduction effect.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out distributional principles of the shop-houses in residential district through physical composition of residential area. Through the research that are based on literature and field survey, it analysed the relation between physical composition of residential area and the shop-houses of selected four sites under similar urban condition where land readjustment project were held. The consequences of this study are summarized as follows; 1) A road that is not penetrating the inside a residential area is seemed to have low occupancy of shops comparing to other roads with similar hierarchy. And the shops functions as convenience facilities. It can be inferred from the statement above that even a road with higher hierarchy is not easy to form commercial area if without penetrating the residential area. 2) According to the size and the arranged method of Inner blocks of residential area towards major roads, distribution of shop-houses appear to be different. In other words, when shop-houses are located along the roads, the proportion of shop was higher than when located perpendicular to the roads. 3) When the number of average lots are little and the size of block is small, usually, street ratio and the number of corners gets higher, which eventually increases the number of shop-houses.

Mg Atom Substitution for Nonstoichiometric Na+ β-Alumina: A First Principles Study (비화학양론적 Na+β-alumina를 위한 Mg 원자의 치환: 제일원리 계산)

  • $Na^+$ ion conductivity can be improved by the substitution of an Mg atom for an Al atom to form a nonstoichiometric $Na^+$ $\beta$-alumina. We performed a first principles study to investigate the most stable substitution site of an Mg atom and the resulting structural change of the nonstoichiometric $Na^+$ $\beta$-alumina. Al atoms were classified as four different layers in the spinel block that are separated by conduction planes in the nonstoichiometric $Na^+$ $\beta$-alumina. The substitution of an Mg atom for an Al atom at a tetragonal site was more favorable than that at an octahedral site. The substitution in the spinel block was more favorable than that close to the conduction plane. This result was well explained by the volume changes of the polyhedrons, by the standard deviation of the Mg-O distance, and by the comparison with bulk MgO structure. Our result indicates that the most preferable site for the Mg atom was the tetrahedral site at the spinel block in the nonstoichiometric $Na^+$ $\beta$-alumina.

  • A conference key agreement system is a scheme to generate a session key in a contributory manner in order to communicate with each other securely among participants. In this paper an efficient conference key agreement system is proposed by employing symmetric balanced incomplete block design(SBIBD), one class of block designs. The protocol presented not only minimizes the message overhead and message exchanging rounds but also makes every participant contribute evenly for generating a conference key. Our protocol constructs a conference key which takes modified Diffe-Helman form of ${\prod}_{i=0}^{v-1}R_i$, where v is the number of participants and $R_i$ is a random number generated from member i. In a special class of SBIBD, it takes only 3 rounds message exchange and message overhead is $O(v{\sqrt{v}})$. Our protocol can be proved as computationally difficult to calculate as discrete logarithms.

  • Since the engineering plastics having a melting point of higher than 300 degrees have a high mechanical rigidity, chemical resistance, friction and abrasion performance, those are being highlighted as metal replacement materials in various industries. In this study, 3D printer nozzle with excellent heat dissipation characteristics are designed and analytically verified to form engineering plastics with high melting points in 3D printers based on the melt-lamination modeling method. In order to insulate between the heat block heated to a melting point of filament material and the upper part of the nozzle where the filament is transferred, the heat brake part with low thermal conductivity was designed to have two separate parts, and a cooling fin structure is further applied to the heat brake part to lower steady-state temperature by air convection. Optimized structural design on FDM nozzle part reduces the temperature at the heat sink and at the end part of heat brake by 50% and 14% respectively, compared to the conventional BCnozzle structure.

  • This paper describes how the gold particles self assemble on the specific phase on the microphase separated block copolymer thin film and form a well ordered patterns. For this study, polystyrene-polybutadiene-polystyrene (PS-PB-PS) triblock copolymer (30wt % PS) thin films (${\sim}100nm$) having a cylindrical morphology were cast from 0.1wt% toluene solution to be used as polymer thin film templates. The films having either vertical PS cylinders or in-plane PS cylinders in PB matrix from each different solvent evaporation condition were obtained. Cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy(TEM) was used to study the surface and bulk morphologies of block copolymer thin films. Small amount of gold particles was evaporated on a block copolymer thin film template to obtain a nano-scale pattern. When an as-cast thin film template was used, gold particles preferentially self assemble on the low surface tension PB phase and a relatively well ordered pattern in nano-scale was produced. However, after the formation of a low surface energy PB rich layer upon annealing, a gold self-assembled pattern was not observed.

Development of the ice resistance series chart for icebreaking ships

  • The ice resistance series charts for icebreaking ships were developed through a series of systematic model tests in the ice tank of the Korean Research Institute of Ship and Ocean Engineering (KRISO). Spencer's (1992) component-based scaling system for ship-ice model tests was applied to extend the model ship correlations. Beam to draft ratio (B/T), length to beam ratio (L/B), block coefficient ($C_B$) and stem angle (${\alpha}$) were selected as geometric parameters for hull form development. The basic hull form (S1) of twin pod type with B/T of 3.0, L/B of 6.0, $C_B$ of 0.75 and stem angle of $25^{\circ}$ was generated with a modern hull design concept. A total of 13 hulls were designed varying the geometric parameters; B/T of 2.5 and 3.5, L/B of 5.0 and 7.0, $C_B$ from 0.65 to 0.85 in intervals of 0.05, and 5 stem angles from $15^{\circ}$ to $35^{\circ}$. Ice resistance tests were first carried out with the basic hull form in level ice with suitable speed. Four more tests for $C_B$ variations from 0.65 to 0.85 were conducted and two more for beam to draft and length to beam ratios were also performed to study the effect of the geometric parameters on ice resistance. Ice resistance tests were summarized using the volumetric coefficient, $C_V$ ($={\nabla}/L^3$), instead of L/B and $C_B$ variations. Additional model tests were also carried out to account for the effect of the stem angle, ice thickness and ice strength on ice resistance. In order to develop the ice resistance series charts with a minimum number of experiments, the trends of the ice resistance obtained from the experiments were assumed to be similar for other model ship with different geometric parameters. A total of 18 sheets composed of combinations of three different beam to draft ratios and six block coefficients were developed as a parameter of $C_V$ in the low speed regions. Three correction charts were also developed for stem angles, ice thickness and ice strength respectively. The charts were applied to estimate ice resistance for existing icebreaking ships including ARAON, and the results were satisfactory with reasonable accuracy.

Experimental Study on Loading Capacity of SY Corrugated Steel Form for RC Beam and Girder (SY 비탈형 보거푸집의 내하성능에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Recently, necessities of steel form for reinforced concrete beam and girder have been emphasized in building structures for the reduction of the construction period and the labor cost. SY Beam was developed for the these purposes and is roll-formed using thin steel plate. On this research, we tried to evaluate and verify the performance and behavior of SY Beam under construction loading stage as like pouring in situ concrete. For the standard shape of SY beam, structural modelling with various steel thicknesses has carried out using MIDAS GEN program. From results of modelling, the width and height of SY Beam were determined 600mm and 400mm respectively. For 3 SY Beams, the loading experiment was performed to measure vertical and horizontal displacement under stacking sand, concrete block, and bundle of rebar. As a result, the vertical deflection showed a tendency to decrease as the thickness increased. In the horizontal displacement, the trend according to the thickness was not clearly observed. From the evaluation on the loading experiment, it is considered that the SY Beam can secure both workability and structural safety. In particular, the SY Beam(1.2mm) hardly generates horizontal displacement, so it has excellent load-bearing capacity. So, we judged that the SY Beam with 1.2mm steel plate has excellent performance and consider to be immediately commercially available.
