지게차 안전성 향상 방안 연구 (A Study on Safety Improvement of Forklift Truck)

  • Forklift truck is one of the dangerous machines which causes the fatal accidents most frequently. The causes of fatalities by forklift from 2008 to 2011 were analyzed. Crushing the operator when tipping over or falling off a truck were the major causes of death in this study. The purpose of this study is to show measures from the engineering point of view to prevent the forklift truck accidents. In order for that, the domestic requirement for forklift safety was compared with those of foreign and international standards. The manufacturers' opinion was also collected regarding to improve the forklift safety. Several measures were suggested in order to prevent fatalities caused by forklift.

제조업에서 지게차에 대한 안전보건 기준에 관한 규칙 개정 방안 (Proposed Revision of Standard on Articles for Forklift Trucks in Manufacturing Industries)

  • A forklift truck, commonly used for transporting heavy materials in manufacturing industries, etc., is a useful machine. However accidents occur frequently during the operation of the machine. In order to prevent accidents it is necessary to examine the current safety regulations on a forklift truck. Because the regulations have not revised for a long time, they do not reflect the rapidly changing environment of industries. Proposed revision of standard on articles for forklift trucks was presented after analysing the causes of occurred injuries, comparing domestic standards with international standards and examining the survey results. We analyzed the safety regulation articles and the injuries according to the type of work conducted with forklift. The major differences in safety regulations between Korea and the major foreign countries were investigated. The opinions of field workers on the safety regulations were surveyed using e-mail or interview. As a result, it was found that preventing workers from contacting with the forklift is very important. To prevent accident due to movement of a stopped forklift, actions are necessary to prevent slip of a forklift. Also supervision is required to make workers fasten safety belt and to prohibit workers from using a forklift for undesignated purpose.

카운터밸런스형 지게차에서의 안정도 해석 (Stability Analysis of Counterbalanced Forklift Trucks)

  • Forklift truck is a very convenient transportation vehicle and widely used in industries. However, a lot of overturn accidents occur during operation because of poor understanding on the stability of forklift trucks. The stability of a forklift is defined by the minimum slope of the ramp where a forklift truck overturns. According to the KS BISO 22915-2 code, the stability is determined from the four kinds of stability tests. The equations for the stability of a forklift truck were proposed already in several published literatures and the equations can be used conveniently to estimate the stability and examine the effects of design parameters in forklift trucks. However, because the detail derivation procedure was omitted, it is very difficult to examine the accuracy of the proposed equations and to modify the equations for other types of forklift trucks. In this paper the stability equations were derived again with detail derivations for the four kinds of stability tests. And the effects of acceleration or centrifugal forces were also additionally included in the equations and minor corrections were also made.

전동식 지게차의 진동저감에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Vibration Reduction of a Forklift with an Electric Motor)

  • In this paper, vibration sources of an electric forklift are identified and the forklift vibrations are reduced by structural modification. For vibration identification, vibration signals are measured by an accelerometer when the forklift is moving. These signals are presented in a waterfall plot in order to find the dependency of frequency components on the forklift speed. It is found that main vibration source is tire pattern excitation. From some experiments and finite element analyses, it is also found that resonances occur because the natural frequencies of the forklift exist in usual driving speed range. To shift the natural frequencies outside the driving speed range, the connection parts between main body and loader are modified to increase stiffness. It is verified that considerable amount of vibration are reduced by the structural modification.

  • This research investigates how a Virtual Reality (VR)-based simulation could be used to train safe operation skills for forklift operators. Forklift operation is categorized as high-risk work by many occupational health and safety regulators and authorities due to high injury and fatality rates involved with forklifts. Therefore, many safety guidelines have been developed for forklift operators. Typically, forklift operation safety training is delivered based on instructional texts or videos, which have limitations in influencing people's safety behavior. Against this background, we propose a VR-based forklift simulator that can enable safe operation skills training through a feedback system. The training program consists of several modules to teach how to perform the basic tasks of forklift operation, such as driving, loading and unloading, following the safety guidelines. The system provides instantaneous instructions and feedback regarding safe operation. This training system is based on the model of "learning-by-doing". The user can repeat the training modules as many times as necessary before being able to perform the given task without violating any safety guidelines. The last training module tests the user's acquisition of all safety skills required. The user feedback from several demonstration sessions showed the potential usefulness of the proposed training system.

유한요소해석을 이용한 전동식 지게차의 진동저감 (Vibration Structure of an Electronic Forklift by Using the Finite Element Analysis)

  • In this paper, vibration sources of an electric forklift are identified and the forklift vibrations are reduced by structural modification by using the finite element analysis. From some experiments, it is also found that resonances occur because the natural frequencies of the forklift exist in usual driving speed range. To vibration sources of the electric forklift, the modeling is designed by using a commercial 3D CAD program CATIA and the finite element model is designed by a using finite element analysis program ANSYS which can perform modal analysis of flexible mode. To shift the natural frequencies out side the driving speed range, the frame part, the connection parts between main body and loader are modified to increase stiffness. It is verified that considerable amount of vibration are reduced by the structural modification.

  • In this study, the improvement work to reduce the steering wheel vibration of a forklift truck is performed. The forklift truck newly developed possesses a trans-axle type power train to achieve a compact and low-price design. The forklift truck is directly subjected to a high-level engine vibration through hard mounted trans-axle housing. The engine vibration shakes the whole system of the forklift truck, and then a high level local vibration of steering wheel could not be avoided. As the results, the vibration source and path mechanisms are experimentally identified and then an improvement design is proposed to minimize the steering wheel vibration.

  • 지게차는 작업 환경여건상 이동하는 경우보다 제자리에서 작업하는 경우가 많아 일반적인 자동차의 계기판과 다르게 이동거리를 표현하지 않고 엔진 가동시간만을 표현한다. 그렇기 때문에 지게차를 구성하는 다양한 소모품들은 엔진 가동시간에 따른 교체주기를 가진다. 하지만 이러한 교체주기 또한 지게차마다 작업환경이 다르기 때문에 엔진 가동시간 만으로 정확한 교체 주기를 판단하기가 매우 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 GPS와 IMU센서를 이용하여 지게차의 위치정보, 이동거리 정보를 운전자에게 제공하는 시스템을 제안한다. 본 시스템을 사용함으로써 기존의 계기판으로 판단하기 어려운 지게차 상태정보를 보다 쉬운 정보로 제공해 지게차 관리 및 유지에 대한 경제적 이익을 기대한다.

  • 물류 창고 등에서 지게차 사용은 일반화되어 있으나 최근에는 지게차 전도 사고가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 또한 일반적으로 어떤 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 컴퓨터를 이용한 시뮬레이션이나 축소된 하드웨어로 구성한 시뮬레이터를 이용한 문제 해결을 시도하고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 지게차의 전도 예방을 위해 기존 지게차의 문제점을 분석하고 지게차의 전도 예방을 위한 기구 개념을 설명한다. 또한 지게차 전도 예방을 위한 시뮬레이터 시스템 구성과 설계된 시뮬레이터를 제시하고자 한다.
