  • RMFC (Resolved Motion Force Control) is the method to control the Cartesian force and position using FCC (Force Convergent Control) instead of the complicated dynamic equations of the manipulator. The gain parameters of the controller are adjusted through many trial and errors. In this paper PD-optimal control method is introduced to give optimal gain parameters which minimize the difference between actural acceleration and desired acceleration. To show the validitiesn of the proposed method computer simulations are performed for the two-link manipulator.

  • In this paper, a novel structure Bearingless SRM with hybrid stator poles is proposed. The motor torque can be controlled independently from radial force control. Analytical models of torque and radial force for proposed structure are explained. Based on these models, control scheme of desired radial force is proposed. In this control method, the magnitude of force can be controlled in arbitrary direction and magnitude by selecting some combinations of radial force windings. The validities of structure and control method are verified by the experimental results when motor is at standstill and running.

  • Parallel manipulators have been used to a variety of applications, including the motion simulators and mechanism for precise machining. A Stewart-Gough type parallel manipulator is composed of six linear joints which have wider contact areas than revolute ones, so linear joints are more affected by frictional force. First, the reference trajectories are computed from the model of the parallel manipulator assuming that it is subject to only the gravitational force and no friction exists. In the actual operation where friction exists, the control inputs, which correspond to the friction forces, are obtained by forcing the actual joint variables to follow these trojectories by proper control. It is shown that control performance can be improved when the friction compensation based on this information is added to the controller for position control of the moving plate of a parallel manipulator.

  • This paper presents adaptive cutting force control in milling process using indirect cutting force measurement. The cutting forces in X, Y, and Z axes are measured indirectly from the sensing current of the feed-drive servo motor. After modelling the feed-drive system of a horizontal machining center, the relation between the cutting force and the servo motor current is analyzed. The pulsating milling forces are measured from the sensing current within the bandwidth of the servo. It is shown that indirect cutting farce measurement can be used in adaptive cutting force control. The adaptive control scheme which is globally convergent and stable is attached to a commercial CNC machining center. Cutting experiments on end milling are performed for diagonal cutting.

  • In this paper, the repeated learning technique of neural network was used for gripping force control algorithm. The hybrid control system was introduced and the manipulator's finger reorganized form 2 ea to 3 ea for comfortable gripping. The data was obtained using the gripping force of repeated learning techniques. In the fucture, the adjustable gripping force will be obtained and improved the accuracy using the artificial intelligence techniques.

  • This study presents a methodology for simulating a unified approach that controls interaction force between tool and objective by using a synthesis method of robot interacting control law for stabilizing the transient process of motion. Root locus is used to analyze stabilization of motion deviation characteristics. Based on responses of motion deviation, contact force is derived to satisfy exponential stability and we generate control input with respect to motion trajectories and interaction force. Moreover, simulation is applied to experimental application of a Cartesian robot driven by two stepper motors, and the noise of feedback signals is considered as presence of system inaccuracies, and the unified approach of interaction force control is examined precisely.

  • In this paper, we address an actuator system, which suppresses the micro-vibration engaged by environment. The actuator system consists of two modules with a permanent and an electromagnet. In vertical mode, one module is upper the other is lower. For optimal control of alternating vibration, the rate of the attraction force and the repulsion force is exactly one. Generally, the repulsive force is smaller than the attractive force. For linear control of engaged vibration, the ratio of repulsive force and attractive force is designed to equal. The actuator system will be applied to an active vibration control system for precise vibration suppression. In this paper, the actuator structure and its important sizes are calculated by RMS and FEM analysis.

  • This paper describes the intelligent robot's hand with three-axis finger force sensors for an intelligent robot. In order to grasp an unknown object safely, it should measure the mass of the object, and determine the grasping force using the mass, then control the robot's fingers with the grasping force. In this paper, the intelligent robot's hand for an intelligent robot was developed. First, the three-axis finger force sensors were designed and manufactured, second, the intelligent robot's hand with three-axis finger force sensors were designed and fabricated, third, the high-speed control system was designed and manufactured using DSP( digital signal processor), finally, the characteristic test to grasp an unknown object safely was carried out. It was confirmed that the developed intelligent robot's hand could grasp an unknown object safely.

  • It is well understood that force reflecting coupled with visual display can be an important two-way communication channel in human-computer interaction. In this work, important components for a high-fidelity system bandwidth are force reflecting device and that all the computations including contact determination and response computation have to be performed in less than a millisecond. This paper describes a force-reflecting device and an embedded controller. The realized force-reflecting device is based on a novel serial type mechanical structure, and features compactness, high sustained output force capability, low friction, zero backlash, and enough workspace. The embedded controller reduces software computational load via main processor and simplifies hardware strictures by the time-division control. The device is integrated with existing dynamic simulation algorithms running separate workstation, so that objects can be manipulated in real time and the corresponding forces felt back by the operator.

  • In the prestressed concrete structures, the effective prestressing force of tendon is basically most important item for structural safety and serviceability. The frictional loss is one of the major items for determinating the effective prestressing force and depend on the construction accuracy of the structures. In this thesis, it will be analyzed and found through measured hydraulic jack pressure, tendon elongation and prestressing control system that the tendancy of apparent curvature friction coefficient, the ratio of jacking force and required prestressing force, the ratio of initial jacking force and required prestressing force and compatibility of specified friction loss coefficient. The specified control limit for curvature friction coefficient of prestressing control system is about 0.25 and wobble friction coefficient 0.005. Thus, the control limit should be modified according to changed vale of friction coefficient.
