잠김-압박 금속판을 사용하여 MIPPO 수기를 적용한 원위부 경골 골절의 치료: 관절내 골절과 관절외 골절의 비교 (Treatment of Distal Tibia Fracture using MIPPO Technique with Locking Compression Plate: Comparative Study of the Intraarticular Fracture and Extraarticular Fracture)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the efficiency of the minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) with locking compression plate (LCP) for distal tibial metaphyseal intra-articular fracture compared with extra-articular fracture. Materials and Methods: From February 2006 to June 2008, 21 patients with distal tibia metaphyseal intra-articular fracture and 20 patients with extra-articular fracture were treated operatively by MIPPO technique with LCP and followed for at least one year. In the group with intra-articular fracture, mean age was 48.85 years old and a mean follow-up was 15 months. In the other group with extra-articular fracture, mean age was 52.35 years old and a mean follow-up was 14.5 months. The type of fracture was evaluated using the AO/OTA classification and open-fractures were according to the Gustilo-And gron classification. Radiologic evaluation with fracture healing and tibial alignment, clinical evaluation with Olerud and Molander ankle score and restriction of motion were done for treatment. Results: According to AO/OTA classification, There were 21 type A, 15 type B, 5 type C. Average union time of the intra-articular fracture (type B, C) was 18.7 weeks. Average union time of the extra-articular fracture (type A) was 17.1 weeks. All fractures were healed without malunion. There were no difference of mean restriction angle between intra-articular fracture (ankle dorsiflexion was 3.57 degree, plantar-flexion was 5.95 degree) and extra-articular fracture (ankle dorsiflexion was 3 degree, plantar-flexion was 3.75 degree). There were no difference of Olerud and Molander ankle score between them as a mean score of intra-articular and extra-articular was 89.25, 91.25 each other. As a complication, there were 3 case of skin necrosis, 8 case of discomfortable skin tenting by plate and 1 superficial infection, but could be healed by conservative care. Conclusion: MIPPO technique, combined articular reduction, with LCP of distal tibial metaphyseal fracture was a good method with high functional recovery.

종골 골절의 제한적 후방 접근법 수술적 치료 후 조기 운동 및 재활 치료의 결과 (Result of the Early Exercise and Rehabilitation after Limited Posterior Operative Treatment of the Calcaneal Fractures)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the result of the early exercise and rehabilitation after limited posterior operative treatment of the calcaneal fractures. Materials and Methods: Between May 2005 and December 2007, 43 cases with intraarticular calcaneal fractures were treated by open reduction with K-wires and Steinmann pins. Mean age and mean follow-up period were 42.5 years old and 15 months. All patients were treated with the same postoperative protocol, the early exercise of subtalar joint without short leg splint and cast was began after postoperative 1 day, non-weight bearing crutch ambulation did after 2 weeks, partial-weight bearing crutch ambulation did after 6 weeks, without crutch ambulation did after 10 weeks. The fractures was classified by Essex-Lopresti and Sanders classification using radiographs and the functional outcomes were evaluated by circle draw exercise, AOFAS score. Results: By Essex-Lopresti classification, the tongue type was 6 cases (14%), the joint depression type was 15 cases (35%), the combined type was 22 cases (51%). By Sanders classification, type II were 10 cases (23%), type III were 15 cases (58%), and type IV were 8 cases (19%). By AOFAS functional evaluation, the mean preoperative scores were 70.3 and 70.5 respectively, mean postoperative scores were 83.7 and 86.9 respectively. There were satisfactory results in 40 cases but 3 cases were unsatisfactory including on case of lateral impingement and 2 cases of traumatic arthritis of subtalar joint. Conclusion: We obtained satisfactory result of the early exercise of subtalar joint without short leg splint and cast and rehabilitation after limited posterior operative treatment of the calcaneal fractures.

컨테이너선 라싱 브릿지 구조 강도 평가에 영향을 미치는 주요 변수의 구조해석 (Structural Analysis of the Governing Variables Affecting the Structural Strength Evaluation of the Lashing Bridges in Container Vessels)

  • 코로나 19 팬데믹 및 기후 변화 등으로 전 세계적으로 필수적인 생필품과 자원의 품귀 이슈가 지속해서 발생하고 있다. 이러한 현상을 극복하고자 교역량의 수요가 갑자기 증가하였으며 이 결과 컨테이너선의 운임이 대폭 상승하였다. 컨테이너선의 크기 변화는 1960년대 1,500TEU(twenty-foot equivalent unit)를 시작으로 2021년에는 24,400TEU로 대형화가 진행되고 있다. 컨테이너 적재 능력의 향상은 라싱브릿지 구조의 대형화와 긴밀하게 연관되어 있고, 안전한 컨테이너 고박 및 항해 시 발생하는 다양한 외력 하중에 안전한 구조설계를 해야 한다. 현재 주요 선급에서는 라싱브릿지 구조 안전성을 평가할 수 있는 구조해석 기반의 지침서를 배포하고 있으나, 허용기준 및 평가 방법이 달라서 설계 시 엔지니어들에게 혼선을 주고 있다. 본 연구에서는 결과에 영향을 줄 가능성이 큰 주요 변수들(모델링 범위, 오프닝 고려 여부, 메쉬 크기) 변화에 따른 강도 변화 특성을 정리하였다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 저자들은 합리적인 구조해석 기반 평가에 대한 검토사항을 제안하였고, 추후 선급 기준 개정 시 참고가 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

글램 록 스타일 구두 디자인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Shoe Design Affected by Glam Rock)

  • This study investigated the preceding studies and concept of Glam Rock style, modernistically reinterpreted its aesthetic function and symbolism and connected them to design. It analyzed according to the standards for classification the Glam Rock style appearing mainly in the collections from 2002 S/S to 2007 S/S and presented four pieces of design through the analysis. Its findings are synthesized as follows. First, unstructured design constitutes mule stressing gold cubic overall. It takes an unstable form by the placement of unshapely front ball of foot from transforming Chopin and a relatively poor heel. Second, over trimming constitutes separated pumps in the form of over trimming irregularly a piece of broken glass, metal and thumb tack. Third, Mix & Match combines Boot body of flexible knit material with an acrylic wedge sandal. Fourth, a platform sandal has the structure of color contrast between yellow and bronze in calf fur of tiger-skin pattern. I hope that this study will be developed by reflecting Glam Rock spirit and style as cultural phenomena through analyzing Glam Rock style and presenting design according to selected standards for classification, inferring plastic beauty of fashion shoes from them, investigating the change and feature of age-specific shoe design and making a new attempt possible.

APPLICATION OF MULTIVARIATE DISCRIMINANT ANALYSIS FOR CLASSIFYING PROFICIENCY OF EQUIPMENT OPERATORS

  • Using data gathered from expert opinion of plant and equipment professionals; this paper presents the key variables that may constitute a maintenance proficient plant operator. The Multivariate Discriminant Analysis (MDA) was applied to generate data and was tested for sensitivity analysis. Results showed that the MDA model was able to classify plant operators' proficiency at 94.10 percent accuracy and determined nine (9) key variables of a maintenance proficient plant operator. The key variables included: i) number of years of experience as equipment operator (PQ1); ii) eye-hand coordination (PQ9); iii) eye-hand-foot coordination (PQ10); iv) planning skills (TE16); v) pay/wage (MQ1); vi) work satisfaction (MQ4); vii) operator responsibilities as defined by management (MF1); viii) clear management policies (MF4); and ix) management pay scheme (MF5). The classification procedure of nine variables formed the general model with the equation viz: OMP (general) = 0.516PQ1 + 0.309PQ9 + 0.557PQ10 + 0.831TE16 + 0.8MQ1 + 0.0216MQ4 + 0.136MF1 + 0.28MF4 + 0.332MF5 - 4.387

S.E.R.I. 수술법을 이용한 소건막류의 치료 (Treatment of Bunionette Deformity with S.E.R.I. (simple, effective, rapid, inexpensive) Operation)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of the S.E.R.I. (simple, effective, rapid, inexpensive) operation for the bunionette deformity. Materials and Methods: Between March 2005 and February 2009, 22 patients (26 feet) who had been treated for the bunionette deformity with minimally invasive osteotomy were reviewed retrospectively. Clinically, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score, shoes selectivity, disappearance of callus and patient's satisfaction level by Coughlin scoring system were evaluated. Radiologically, the bunionette was classified as four types according to the Fallat classification. The 4-5$^{th}$ intermetatarsal angle (4-5$^{th}$ IMA), the 5$^{th}$ metatarsophalangeal angle (5$^{th}$ MPA) and the length of 5th metatarsal bone (5$^{th}$ MTL) were analyzed at preoperatively and at final follow up visit. Results: VAS improved from $6.8{\pm}1.8$ points to $2.2{\pm}1.8$ points (p<0.05). AOFAS score improved from $54.0{\pm}14.2$ points to $90.0{\pm}4.8$ points (p<0.05). There was no change in shoes selectivity. 9 feet (34.6%) were satisfied with excellent results, 16 feet (61.5%) with good results and 1 foot (3.9%) with fair results. The average 4-5$^{th}$ IMA was corrected from $10.1{\pm}2.3^{\circ}$ to $4.4{\pm}1.7^{\circ}$ (p<0.05). The average 5$^{th}$ MPA was corrected from $11.5{\pm}8.6^{\circ}$ to $-0.1{\pm}4.1^{\circ}$ (p<0.05). The average 5$^{th}$ MTL was changed from $66.1{\pm}4.3$ millimeters to $64.1{\pm}4.4$ millimeters (p=0.069). There was no malunion, nonunion or delayed union and other perioperative complications. Conclusion: S.E.R.I. operation is less invasive and easy technique. This procedure is recommendable for the treatment of the bunionette deformity.

  • 1. To define 'Korean medicine industry' through study on existing medicine related industries, Korean medicine industry means all industrial activities related to Korean medicine. It covers material resources such as herbs and products made with herbs, medical instruments, Korean medical service and related information service based on Korean medicine theories. 2. According to Korea National Statistical Office standard industrial branch, Korean medicine industry was classified as a large branch. There were industries such as agriculture, food and beverage manufacture, publishing, copy of prints and record media, manufacture of compound and chemical products, medical service, manufacture of precise optical instruments, wholesale trade and product mediation, retail trade, restaurant, research and development, education service, health preservation service, entertainment, culture and sports industry related to the Korean medicine industry. 3. If we classify this according to the industry branch of English economists Clark, Colin Grant, herb cultivating industry will be classified as primary industry, manufacture of foot and beverage related to Korean medicine, secondary industry and wholesale and retail sales of herb, research and development, education, health preservation, social welfare, tertiary industries.

보행용 관성 항법 시스템을 위한 HMMS를 통한 걸음 단계 구분 (Gait State Classification by HMMS for Pedestrian Inertial Navigation System)

  • An inertial navigation system for pedestrian position tracking is proposed, where the position is computed using inertial sensors mounted on shoes. Inertial navigation system(INS) errors increase with time due to inertial sensor errors, and therefore it needs to reset errors frequently. During normal walking, there is an almost periodic zero velocity instance when a foot touches the floor. Using this fact, estimation errors are reduced and this method is called the zero velocity updating algorithm. When implementing this zero velocity updating algorithm, it is important to know when is the zero velocity interval. The gait states are modeled as a Markov process and each state is estimated using the hidden Markov model smoother. With this gait estimation, the zero or nearly zero velocity interval is more accurately estimated, which helps to reduce the position estimation error.

  • 알려지지 않은 실내에서 인간형 로봇의 이동경로 생성을 위해서는 주변 장애물의 형태를 정확히 인식하여 이에 적합한 로봇 움직임을 만들어야 한다. 이 때, 인식된 장애물의 형태에 따라 로봇이 접촉없이 통과할 수 있고, 발과 접촉하여 통과할 수도 있으며, 회피할 수도 있다. 이를 위해 장애물이 어떤 형태를 갖고 있는지를 분류하여 로봇의 이동경로를 생성할 때 활용 가능한 장애물 인식 및 분류 방법을 제안한다. 특히 장애물 형태를 정확히 인식하기 위한 기존 알고리즘은 많은 계산량으로 실시간 활용에 어려움이 있으며, 불필요한 장애물도 함께 추출하기 때문에 연산자원의 낭비가 불가피하다. 본 연구에서는 장애물 인식의 계산량을 줄이기 위해 장애물의 영역을 분류한 후 정확한 형상이 필요한 장애물에 한해 크기 및 형태를 추출하도록 알고리즘의 적용 범위를 제한하여 계산량을 줄이는 방법을 제안한다.

Factor Analysis of Genetic Evaluations For Type Traits of Canadian Holstein Sires and Cows

  • Factor analysis was applied as a multivariate statistical technique to official genetic evaluations of type classification traits for 1,265,785 Holstein cows and 10,321 sires computed from data collected between August 1982 and June 1994 in Canada. Type traits included eighteen linear descriptive traits and eight major score card traits. Principal components of the factor analysis showed that only five factors explain the information of the genetic value of linear descriptive traits for both cows and sires. Factor 1 included traits related to mammary system, like texture, median suspensory, fore attachment, fore teat placement and rear attachment height and width. Factor 2 described stature, size, chest width and pin width. These two factors had a similar pattern for both cows and sires. In constrast, Factor 3 for cows involved only bone-quality, while in addition for sires, Factor 3 included foot angle, rear legs desirability and legs set. Factor 4 for cows related to foot angle, set of rear leg and leg desirability, while Factor 4 related to loin strenth and pin setting for sires. Finally, Factor 5 included loin strength and pin setting for cows and described only pin setting for sires. Two factors only were required to describe score card traits of cows and sires. Factor 1 related to final score, feet and legs, udder traits, mammary system and dairy character, while frame/capacity and rump were described by Factor 2. Communality estimates which determine the proportion of variance of a type trait that is shared with other type traits via the common factor variant were high, the highest ${\geq}$ 80% for final score, stature, size and chest width. Pin width and pin desirability had the lowest communality, 56% and 37%. Results indicated shifts in emphasis over the twelve-year period away from udder traits and dairy character, and towards size, scale and width traits. A new system that computes fmal score from type components has been initiated.
