지역식량체계에서 소비자의 역할에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Consumers' Role in the Local Food System)

  • The problems of agriculture and food production in Korea are serious. These problems were brought about by the global food system. In this system, farmers and consumers are disconnected. The distance between food production on the farm to the consumer's table is too long. Farmers can not survive as their food dollar is steadily decreasing. Consumers have to eat old, unclean, and poor-quality foods because the foods do not come from nearby farms. They do not know where their food has come from or by whom their food was grown. In order to solve these problems, the transition from the global food system to a local food system is imperative. In a local food system, farmers and consumers are connected and they can help each other. This study identifies the consumers' role in the local food system. They are the purchasers of local food. They are active participants both in producing and distributing local food, and in taking part in the local food movement. Above all, they are the teachers of the younger generation consumers. While consumers in the global food system are passive, those in the local food system are active. We call the former "food illiterates" and the latter "food citizens." In order to revitalize the local food system, consumers must be food citizens, and therefore, consumer education is necessary. There are several interdependent media forms available for consumer education such as field trips, farm experiences, education for returning to the farm, and food education.

구멍연잎성게, Astriclypeus manni(VERRIL 1867)의 먹이섭취, 서식밀도 및 이동속도에 관하여 (Ecological Studies on the Sand Dollar, Astriclypeus manni (Verril 1867) - Feeding, Density and Locomotion)

  • 부정형성게류인 구멍연잎성게는 제주도 연안에 널리 분포하고 있음에도 불구하고 생태학적 연구들이 미비한 실정이다. 이 연구는 구멍연잎성게의 행동학적 연구로서 먹이섭취, 서식밀도 및 이동에 대한 기초자료로서 시료는 제주도의 북동쪽에 위치한 함덕에서 SCUBA를 통하여 채집 및 현장에서 직접 관찰하였다. 장내용물 관찰 결과, 장내 퇴적물 입자의 평균 입도조성은 $77.6\pm{22.2}\mu{m}$였다. 장 내용물은 유공충, 저서성 요각류, 선충류, 규조류, 알, 해조류이 파편, 골편 등의 동식물 플랑크톤으로 구성되었다. 구멍연잎성게의 서식밀도는 $1m^2$ 당 0.4 개체이며, 분포패턴은 임의분포(random distribution)에 기초하는 것으로 판단되었다$(\chi^2=85.16,\;p>0.05)$. 구멍연잎성게의 이동거리는 여름철인 1998년 8월에 6.2-64.8cm $hr^{-1}(mean=25.0\pm{13.9)}$이었고, 5월에는 $2.0-43.0cm\;hr^{-1}(mean=17.7\pm{10.7)}$로 8월에 다소 높게 나타났다. 여름기간 중 관찰된 비교적 빠른 이동속도는 먹이 섭이 활동과 관련된 것으로 추정되었다.

Dollarization in North Korea: Evidence from a Survey of North Korean Refugees

  • This study measures the degree of dollarization in North Korea using results from a survey of 231 North Korean refugees. Specifically, we compare foreign currency use of households as both store-of-value substitutes (i.e., asset substitution) and transaction substitutes (i.e., currency substitution) before and after the confiscatory currency reform of 2009. The degree of dollarization has advanced since the currency reform in terms of both asset and currency substitutions. Survey results also indicate that the Chinese yuan is frequently used in the Sino-North Korean border area, whereas the US dollar is predominantly used in non-border areas. Furthermore, foreign currency increasingly serves as a medium of exchange not only for large transactions but also for smaller transactions, such as food purchases.

관광호텔 해외 마케팅 활동 개선방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improving the Overseas Marketing Activities of Tourist Hotels -Focused on American Market of "L" Hotel-)

  • It is expected that marketing environment of the hotel industry will change much this year. Hotels should make strategic marketing activities to cope with the rapid change of the environment positively. With the case study of marketing activities for American market of "L" Hotel, a deluxe hotel in Seoul, this study is to present the ways of improving marketing activities of a tourist hotel. U.S.A market has been emerging as the most important market in deluxe hotels with strong value of U.S. dollar currency. To get more Ameriean staying guests. hotels had better make effortis in American market as follow. First, hotels should select corporate market as main target market in U.S.A market. Second, hotels should make preferred corporate rate contracts with corporate travel departments of corporate accounts as their house agents Third, hotels should recognize Global Distribution System as major eservation network in U.S.A Fourth, hotels should advertise effectively in G.D.S in order that agents may reserve the hotel with its visual information. Fifth, hotels had better make the most use of three branch offices of K.N.T.O and sale offices of their affiliated reservation system to get useful information on corporates and travel agents.el agents.

경엽 및 관주 처리에 따른 딸기 중 침투성 농약 잔류패턴 비교 (Comparison of residue patterns between foliar application and drenching in export strawberry)

  • 딸기는 한국의 주요 농산물 중 하나로 매년 3,000만 달러 이상이 수출된다. 그러나 농산물 안전은 최근 농업 무역에서 중요한 요소로 작용하고 있어, 안전한 농산물을 생산하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 안전한 농산물을 생산하려면 적절하게 농약을 관리하는 것이 필수적이다. 딸기는 고설재배를 이용해 경작하는 곳이 많아지고 있는데 점적관수를 이용해 수분, 양분 및 농약을 관주 처리하여 투여하고 있다. 농약을 살포 할 때 관주 처리는 경엽처리를 사용하는 것보다 잔류농약 수준이 더 낮게 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 딸기 중 농약을 관주처리 및 경엽처리 하였을 때, 농약의 잔류량을 경시적으로 비교 하였다. 농약을 농약안전사용기준량 및 두배량으로 처리 한 후 0, 3, 6, 9, 13, 16 및 21 일에 수집한 후 $-18^{\circ}C$에서 보관 하였다. 샘플을 LLE(액체-액체 추출) 및 QuEChERS의 전처리 후 LC 및 LC-MS/MS로 분석 하였다. 결과적으로 관주 처리 한 딸기는 모든 처리구에서 1 mg/kg 미만으로 검출되었다. 농약을 경엽 처리와 관주 처리 하였을 때 딸기의 잔류량 차이는 carbendazim의 경우 5-27배 정도 경엽처리가 높았고, azoxystrobin은 관주처리 시 불검출 되어 비교할 수 없었다.

관주처리에 따른 양액재배 딸기의 농약잔류 특성 (Pesticide residual characteristics in Strawberry, treated by drenching under hydroponics)

  • 딸기는 한국의 주요 농산물 중 하나로 2017년 4,000만 달러 이상이 수출되었다. 최근에는 양액재배를 이용해 경작하는 농가가 많아지면서 농약 관주 처리가 딸기농가에서 큰 관심을 받고 있다. 그러나 농약 관주처리에 대한 연구가 부족하여, 현장에서는 제대로 이용되지 못하고 있다. 이번 연구에서는 관주 처리 활성화와 안전성 향상을 위해서 딸기 중 농약살포조건을 상이하게 하여 관주 처리 후 농약 잔류량을 경시적으로 분석하였다. 실험은 딸기에 시험농약을 상이한 조건(살포횟수, 살포량, 희석배수)으로 관주처리한 후 azoxystrobin과 prochloraz는 0, 7, 14, 24, 40일에 분석하였고, thiamethoxam은 0, 7, 24일 분석하였다. 실험결과 azoxystrobin 및 prochloraz는 관주 처리하였을 때 최종처리 14일 후에 불검출 되었고, thiamethoxam은 0.02-0.85 mg/kg으로 잔류하였다. 농약 관주처리시 이행량은 농약의 옥탄올-물 분배계수와 물의 대한 용해도가 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 농약을 관주처리 할 때 농산물 내 잔류량은 농약을 실질적으로 살포한 유효함량에 가장 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 사료된다.

개미군집 최적화 알고리즘을 이용한 상수도관망 시스템의 최저비용설계 모델의 현장 적용 (Field Application of Least Cost Design Model on Water Distribution Systems using Ant Colony Optimization Algorithm)

  • In this study, Ant Colony Algorithm(ACO) was used for optimal model. ACO which are metaheuristic algorithm for combinatorial optimization problem are inspired by the fact that ants are able to find the shortest route between their nest and food source. For applying the model to water distribution systems, pipes, tanks(reservoirs), pump construction and pump operation cost were considered as object function and pressure at each node and reservoir level were considered as constraints. Modified model from Ostfeld and Tubaltzev(2008) was verified by applying 2-Looped, Hanoi and Ostfeld's networks. And sensitivity analysis about ant number, number of ants in a best group and pheromone decrease rate was accomplished. After the verification, it was applied to real water network from S water treatment plant. As a result of the analysis, in the Two-looped network, the best design cost was found to $419,000 and in the Hanoi network, the best design cost was calculated to $6,164,384, and in the Ostfeld's network, the best design cost was found to $3,525,096. These are almost equal or better result compared with previous researches. Last, the cost of optimal design for real network, was found for 66 billion dollar that is 8.8 % lower than before. In addition, optimal diameter for aged pipes was found in this study and the 5 of 8 aged pipes were changed the diameter. Through this result, pipe construction cost reduction was found to 11 percent lower than before. And to conclusion, The least cost design model on water distribution system was developed and verified successfully in this study and it will be very useful not only optimal pipe change plan but optimization plan for whole water distribution system.

How to Use Financial Derivatives Wisely - A case study of KIKO -

  • This case study investigates the KIKO currency option that has been a social issue in recent years among developing countries, especially Korea, where the financial derivatives market is in a state of rapid growth. The forward transaction which becomes a basis of derivatives is intended to hedge risks that may be caused by a future change in asset prices. Although it originates from a simple form of agricultural transactions, there currently exists a variety of derivatives in more sophisticated forms. In the Korean agricultural industry, the need to use such derivatives is great, as there is a huge risk of price fluctuation in agricultural products due to frequent adverse weather. In addition, many developing countries with export-led industrial structures similar to Korea's, of necessity must resort to currency hedging as a method of reducing relevant risk. However, in most cases, the lack of understanding about financial derivatives results in an inappropriate application of these derivatives. The KIKO in this study represents such cases. Since 2007, KIKO has been sold in Korea to many small- and medium-sized export companies for the purpose of currency hedging when the exchange rate between the Korean won and the U.S. dollar was in a downward spiral. The main focus of this study is a case which is most representative of KIKO. As inflation rapidly increased during the financial crisis in the U.S. at the end of 2007, derivatives became a hot issue in the courts rather than in the financial markets. This case study investigates what KIKO and the fierce legal debates over it imply, from the perspective of the option of value evaluation in order to suggest not only a direction in which companies can utilize financial derivatives, but also a roadmap for the future derivatives market.

Historical Record of Mushroom Research and Industry in Korea

  • Two kinds of mushrooms, Gumji (金芝; Ganoderma) and Soji, were described in old book of Samguksagi (History of the three kingdoms; B.C 57~A.D 668; written by Bu Sik Kim in 1145) in Korea-dynasty. Many kinds of mushrooms were also described in more than 17 kinds of old books during Chosun-dynasty (1392~1910) in Korea. Nowadays, mushroom cultivation has been increased through out the world last decade years. Production of mushrooms has also been increased 10-20% and many varieties have been cultivated. Similar trends were also observed in Korea. Approximately two hundred commercial strains of 37 species in mushrooms were developed and distributed to cultivators. Somatic hybrid variety of oyster mushroom 'Wonhyeong-neutari' were developed by protoplast fusion, and distributed to grower in 1989. The fruiting body yield index of somatic hybrids of Pleurotus ranged between 27 and 155 compared to parental values of 100 and 138. In addition, more diverse mushroom varieties such as Phellinus baumi, Auricularia spp., Pleurotus ferulae, Hericium erinaceus, Hypsizigus marmoreus, Grifola frondosa, Agrocybe aegerita and Pleurotus cornucopiae have been attempted to cultivate in small scale cultivation. Production of mushrooms as food was 190,111 metric tons valued at 800 billion Korean Won (one trillion won if include mushroom factory products; 1dollar = 1,040 Won) in 2011. Major cultivated species are Pleurotus ostreatus, Pleurotus eryngii, Flammulina velutipes, Lentinula edodes, Agaricus bisporus, and Ganoderma lucidum, which cover 90% of total production. Since mushroom export was initiated from 1960 to 1980, the export and import of mushrooms have been increased in Korea. Technology developed for liquid spawn production and automatic cultivation systems lead to the reduction of the production cost resulting in the increasement of mushroom export. However some species were imported because of high production cost for these mushrooms requiring the effective cultivation methods. Developing of effective post-harvest system will be also directly related to mushroom export. In academic area, RDA scientists have been conducting mushroom genome projects. One of the main results is the whole genome sequencing of Flammulina velutipes for molecular breeding. An electrophoretic karyotype of of F. velutipes was obtained using CHEF with 7 chromosomes, with a total genome size of approximately 26.7 Mb. The mususcript of the genome of F. velutipes was published in PLOS ONE this year. For medicinal mushrooms, we have been conducting the genome research on Cordyceps and its related species for developing functional foods using this mushroom. In 2013, Korea Food and Drug Administraion (KFDA) approved Cordyceps mushroom for its value as an immune booster.

한국 배추 기능유전체 연구의 현황 (Current status of Brassica rapa functional genome research in Korea)

  • 식물생명공학 분야에 있어 기능유전체 연구는 식물체가 지니고 있는 유용한 유전자의 생물학적 기능을 밝히고, 농업적 유용성을 확보하여 가치를 부여하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 배추는 우리나라 대표 음식 중의 하나인 김치의 주원료이며 식품영양학적으로도 우수성이 인정되었고 약 5만 ha에서 연간 약 250만 톤이 생산되어 1조원의 국내 시장 및 1억 달러의 수출액을 기록하는 경제작물이다. 그리고 우리나라가 주요 종자수출국의 위치를 차지하고 있어 재배에 있어서나 경제적, 상업적으로 그 중요성이 매우 높은 작물이다. Multinational Brassica Genome Project (MBGP)가 시작되고 배추와 같은 속에 속하는 애기장대의 전 염기서열 분석이 완료됨으로써 배추의 기능유전체 연구가 더욱 활발해 질 수 있는 환경이 마련되었다. 또한 유전자 기능 분석 연구에 필요한 새로운 기술들이 계속 개발되고 있으며 우리나라를 선두로 하여 국제적으로도 연구가 이루어져 해마다 많은 성과들이 보고되고 있다. 본 총설에서는 기능유전체 연구의 첫 단계인 배추 돌연변이체 유기 방법을 시작으로 다양한 표현형의 돌연변이체를 소개하고 이 돌연변이 배추의 게놈내 flanking DNA 분석 및 유전자 동정, microarray를 이용한 유전자 분석, 대표적인 기능유전체 연구 사례를 제시하고자 하였다.
