Various fluorine-containing materials are used in electronic devices like LCD display panels and Li-ion batteries. The structural conformation of fluorine in fluorinated materials is an important contributing factor that influences the chemical and physical properties. The conformation can be changed by heat and stress during manufacture or use. Understanding the conformational changes is critical for understanding the performance and durability of electronic devices. Solid-state NMR spectroscopy could be widely used for the analysis of various fluorine-containing materials for electronic devices. However, conventional CPMAS probes cannot be used for in-situ analysis of fluorine-containing electronic devices like LCD panels and Li-ion batteries. In this paper, we show the design, construction, and optimization of a $^{19}F-^{13}C$ double-resonance solid-state NMR probe for a 400MHz wide-bore magnet with a flat square coil for in-situ analysis of fluorine-containing electronic devices without observing fluorine background signals. This custom-built probe does not show any fluorine background signals, and can have higher efficiency for lossy samples.
In recent years the progress of nuclear medicine advanced dramatically in imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy is able to open op exciting perspectives as standard diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, complementing conventional modalities. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) technology with FDG has been developed clinically in less than 10 years as a routine standard in oncological imaging, including a number of other fluorinated radiopharmaceuticals being evaluated for their ability to complement FDG. However, the limitation of FDG-PET such as non-specific uptake and its short half-life is not compatible with the time necessary for optimal tumour targeting. Therefore, a development of innovative positron-emitting radionuclides with half-lives longer than 10 h is needed. For therapeutic applications, the injection of higher activities is required to reach efficient adsorbed doses in radioresistant solid tumours, while limiting the irradiation of vital organs. In this application, the longer half-life of radiolsotopes are more fit well for radionuclide therapy. To achieve this, researches have to be carried in a largor spectrum of radionuclides for diagnosis and therapy. In the context of rapidly growing nuclear medicine and strong demanding innovative radionuclides, a high-energy (100 MeV), high-intensity (-mA) accelerator with proton (PEFF at KAFRI). will be operating in 2011. The priorities of PEFP will include supporting the nuclear medicine research community by providing those radionuclides with current limited availability by means of a high-energy, high-intensity accelerator.
The purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for estimating greenhouse gas emission reduction through HFCs used in the foam industry. This study investigated characteristics of HFCs and greenhouse gas emissions from production processes in the foam industry, which uses HFCs as a blowing agent. Also, we investigated fluorinated gas removal technology to determine a proper technology for the foam industry. And we confirmed the criteria and characteristics of External Project for methodology development. According to criteria of External Project and foam industrial process emission, a methodology for calculating the amount of greenhouse gas emission reduction in foam industry was developed. Lastly, we analyzed the amount of greenhouse gas emission reduction and KOC (Korea Of Offset) in the foam industry based on the domestic government's plan to reduce HCFCs and imported amount of HFCs used as a blowing agent. The results of this study demonstrate that linking greenhouse gas reduction in the foam industry and the domestic greenhouse gas reduction system can contribute to achieve the domestic greenhouse gas reduction goal.
In recent years, research on the development of eco-friendly synthetic suede based on water-dispersed polyurethane resin and non-fluorine water repellent has been conducted. Synthetic suede has a problem that the fastness to dyeing is greatly lowered after the water-repellent processing at a high temperature of $160^{\circ}C$ because the polyester is dyed with a disperse dye. Therefore, in this study, silica was added to water-dispersed polyurethane resin to improve dye fastness. To distribute the $PUD-SiO_2$ mixture evenly in the water-dispersed polyurethane resin, sufficient stirring was done for a period of time. When the $PUD-SiO_2$ mixture(PUD 1-5%) is applied to the substrate, it is confirmed through SEM that the mixture is uniformly applied without particle condensation. The results showed that silica with a diameter of 4~12nm and BET of $200{\sim}380g/m^2$ had the ability to improve dispersibility and fastness.
Hydrodynamic properties have been investigated for promising extraction systems: $0.05mol\;L^{-1}$ solutions of di(N-ethyl-4-ethylanilide) of 2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-dicarboxylic acid, di(N-ethyl-4-fluoroanilide) of 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid and di(N-ethyl-4-hexylanilide) of 2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-dicarboxylic acid in meta-nitrobenzotrifluoride (F-3) or trifluoromethylphenyl sulfone (FS-13) diluents. To evaluate the perspectives for their use as extraction mixtures at the final stage of the nuclear fuel cycle, the change in density, viscosity, surface tension, and phase separation rate under irradiation with accelerated electrons was studied. The concentrations of extractants in the irradiated mixtures have been determined and the radiation-chemical yields have been calculated. Irradiation significantly decreases the phase separation rate at the stages of extraction and back extraction for all the studied systems. The viscosity of the DYP-7 solution in FS-13 increase above the values suitable for its use in extraction processes.

In this study, we investigated the effects of BiAlSiO glass composition on its glass forming range, thermal properties, and plasma resistance. The results showed that increasing the Al2O3 content suppressed the tendency for crystallization and hindered glass formation beyond a certain threshold. Bi2O3 was found to increase the content of non-bridging oxygen, resulting in a decrease in glass transition temperature and an increase in thermal expansion coefficient. Furthermore, the etching rate was found to improve with increasing Al2O3 content but decrease with increasing SiO2 content. It was concluded that the boiling point of fluorinated compounds should be considered to 900℃. Therefore, this study is expected to contribute to the understanding of the properties of BiAlSiO glass and its application to low temperature melting PRG compositions.

This work aims at estimating global warming potentials (GWP) of $CF_3Br$ and HFC-134a among green house gases. It has been reported that they have much higher GWP than $CO_2$ in the atmosphere. $CF_3Br$, halon 1301 which is well known to be a fire extinguisher, as one of the bromine-containing halons has been banned since 2003 due to destruction of ozone. HFCs, a kind of chiller which replaced chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are one of greenhouse gases regulated by the Kyoto Protocol. In this study, we produced GWPs of $CF_3Br$ and HFC-134a by calculating a life time and measuring an absorption cross section to obtain a radiative forcing (RF). Their absorption cross sections were measured by using Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTS) with a gas cell filled with their certified reference materials at room temperature. As a result, the RFs of $CF_3Br$ and HFC-134a were 0.32 and $0.168Wm^{-2}ppb^{-1}$, respectively and the GWPs were calculated as 7989, 6076, 3903 for $CF_3Br$ and 3855, 1300, 656 for HFC-134a for the time horizon of 20, 100, 500 years, respectively. Overall, uncertainty of the estimated GWPs can be estimated to be about 2.6%. Our results were compared with those proposed by the previous studies (IPCC, 2007; WMO, 1999).

Polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs) have received a lot of attention as a power source for both stationary and mobile applications due to their attractive feature. In general, the performance of PEFCs is highly affected by the property of the electrodes. A PEFC electrode essentially consists of a gas diffusion layer and a catalyst layer. The gas difusion layer is highly porous and hydrophobicized with PTFE polymer. The catalyst layer usually contains electrocatalyst, proton conducting polymer, even PTFE as additive. Particularly, the proton conducting ionomer helps to increase the catalytic activity at three-phase boundary and catalyst utilization. Futhermore, it helps to retain moisture, resulting in preventing the electrodes from membrane dehydration. The most widely used proton conducting ionomer is perfluorinated sulfonic acid polymer, namely, Nafion from DuPont due to its high proton conductivity and good mechanical property. However, there are great demands for alternative ionomers based on non-fluorinated materials in terms of high temperature availability, environmental adaptability and production cost. In this study, the electrodes with the various content of the sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) ionomer in the catalyst layer were prepared. In addition, we evaluated electrochemical properties of the prepared electrodes containing the various amount of the ionomers by using the cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy to find an optimal ionomer composition in the catalyst layer.

A new conjugated copolymer, poly{4,8-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene-alt-4,7- bis(5-thiophen-2-yl)-5,6-difluoro-2-(heptadecan-9-yl)-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazole} (PTIPSBDT-DFDTBTz), is synthesized by Stille coupling polycondensation. The synthesized polymer has a band gap energy of 1.9 eV, and it absorbs light in the range 300-610 nm. The hole mobility of a solution-processed organic thin-film transistor fabricated using PTIPSBDT-DFDTBTz is $3.8{\times}10^{-3}cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$. Bulk heterojunction photovoltaic cells are fabricated, with a conventional device structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer:$PC_{71}BM$/Ca/Al ($PC_{71}BM$ = [6,6]-phenyl-$C_{71}$-butyric acid methyl ester); the device shows a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 2.86% with an open-circuit voltage ($V_{oc}$) of 0.85 V, a short-circuit current density ($J_{sc}$) of 7.60 mA $cm^{-2}$, and a fill factor (FF) of 0.44. Inverted photovoltaic cells with the structure ITO/ethoxylated polyethlyenimine/ polymer:$PC_{71}BM/MoO_3$/Ag are also fabricated; the device exhibits a maximum PCE of 2.92%, with a $V_{oc}$ of 0.89 V, a $J_{sc}$ of 6.81 mA $cm^{-2}$, and an FF of 0.48.
To increase flash point which is related to flammability, seven unprecedented new cleaning agents containing fluoride atoms have been invented. These newly synthesized cleaning agents's physical properties which were conducted by Korea Institute of Petroleum Management by using a standard method showed excellent values. Particularly, flash point of newly synthetic cleaning agents is more higher than that of fluoride free compound. A specimen for cleaning ability was prepared by cutting in $60mm{\times}40mm$ size of stainless steel plate. The surface of the above specimens was applied with four kinds of contaminants, such as paraffin based drawing oil, flux abietic acid, water-insoluble cutting oil, and lubricating oil. Contaminated specimens were immersed in new compounds (1-7) for 1 to 5 minutes to dissolve oil in the cleaning agent. Although the data indicate that all compounds (1-7) exhibit lower cleaning ability toward cutting oil, it is observed that in the case of the present study more than 80% of pollutants on the surface were almost removed within 5 minutes.
