Fluorescence quenching of l,4-bis [2-(2-methylphenyl) ethenyl]-benzene (Bis-MSB) by carbon tetrachloride in five different solvents namely hexane, cyclohexane, toluene, benzene and dioxane has been carried out at room temperature with a view to understand the quenching mechanisms. The Stern-Volmer plot has been found to be non-linear with a positive deviation for all the solvents studied. In order to interpret these results we have invoked the Ground state complex and Sphere of action static quenching models. Using these models various rate parameters have been determined. The magnitudes of these parameters imply that sphere of action static quenching model agrees well with the experimental results. Hence the positive deviation in the Stem-Volmer plots is attributed to the static and dynamic quenching. Further, with the use of Finite Sink approximation model, it was possible to check whether these bimolecular reactions as diffusion limited and to estimate independently distance parameter R' and mutual diffusion coefficient D. Finally an effort has been made to correlate the values of R'and D with the values of the encounter distance R and the mutual diffusion coefficient D determined using the Edwardis empirical relation and Stokes-Einstein relation.

The distribution of light in a randomly scattering medium can represent problems found in many area. Particularly, in the clinical application of lasers for Photodynamic therapy(PDT) or in the fluorescence spectroscopy for biological tissue, turbidity plays a very important role. The influences of fluorophor, scatterer, and absorber in turbid material by light scattering were interpreted for the scattered fluorescence intensity and wavelength. The molecular properties have been studied by laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy in scattering medium as tissue. It has been found that the effects of optical properties in scattering media could be investigated by the optical $parameters({\mu}_s$, ${\mu}_a$ ,${\mu}t)$. Experimental and Monte Carlo simulation method for modelling light transport in tissue was applied. The experimental results using a randomly distributed scattering medium were discussed and compared with those obtained through Monte Carlo simulation. It'll be also important in designing the best model for oil chemistry, medicine and application of medical engineering.
Exposure of algae or plants to irradiance from above the light saturation point of photosynthesis is known as high light stress. This high light stress induces various responses including photoinhibition of the photosynthetic apparatus. The degree of photoinhibition could be clearly determined by measuring the parameters such as absorption and fluorescence of chromoproteins. In cyanobacteria and red algae, most of the photosystem (PS) II associated light harvesting is performed by a membrane attached complex called the phycobilisome (PBS). The effects of high intensity light (1000-4000 ${\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$) on excitation energy transfer from PBSs to PS II in a cyanobacterium Spirulina platensis were studied by measuring room temperature PC fluorescence emission spectra. High light (3000 ${\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$) stress had a significant effect on PC fluorescence emission spectra. On the other hand, light stress induced an increase in the ratio of PC fluorescence intensity of PBS indicating that light stress inhibits excitation energy transfer from PBS to PS II. The high light treatment to 3000 ${\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ caused disappearance of 31.5 kDa linker polypeptide which is known to link PC discs together. In addition we observed the similar decrease in the other polypeptide contents. Our data concludes that the Spirulina cells upon light treatment causes alterations in the phycobiliproteins (PBPs) and affects the energy transfer process within the PBSs.

In this study, specimens with nano-sized porous thin films were manufactured by injecting fluorescence solution into the pores. We intended to find out the difference of the fluorescence intensity in each region of the specimen through an experimental apparatus that makes a temperature field. Before conducting experiments, the optimized manufacturing conditions were determined by analysis of all parameters that influence the emission intensity, and the experiments were carried out with the specimens produced in the optimized conditions. Then, the calibration curves of the fluorescence intensity versus temperature were performed by taking the intensity distributions from the specimen in various temperature fields. The surfaces of specimens were coated with Rhodamine-B (Rh-B) fluorescent dye and measured based on the fluorescence intensity. Silica (SiO2) nanoporous structure with 1-um thickness was constructed on a cover glass, and fluorescence dye was absorbed into these porous thin films.

The influences of fluorophor, scatterer, absorber in turbid material by light scattering were interpreted for the scattered fluorescence intensity and wavelength, it has been studied the molecular properties by laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy. It has been found that the effects of optical properties in scattering media by the optical parameters(${\mu}_{s}$, ${\mu}_{a}$, ${\mu}_{t}$). The value of scattering coefficient ${\mu}_{s}$ is large by means of the increasing particles of scatterer, it has been found that the slope decays exponentially as a function of distance from laser source to detector. It may also aid in designing the best model for oil chemistry, laser medicine and application of medical engineering.

Hence this positive deviation is attributed to the static and dynamic quenching. Further, with the use of Finite Sink approximation model, it was possible to check these bimolecular reactions as diffusion-limited and to estimate independently distance parameter R$^1$ and mutual diffusion coefficient D. The potential of the chlorophyll fluorescence technique in screening eleven rice varieties for chill-sensitivity was assessed by measuring the change in the rate of rise of variable fluorescence (FR) and the maximum yield of variable fluorescence, F$\_$VAR/ (F$\_$MAX/-F$\_$0/) after 8 days chilling at 10$^{\circ}C$. The changes in both fluorescence parameters with chilling agreed well with visual assessments of injury carried out at the end of the chilling period. Furthermore, it was found that in the majority of the rice cultivars tested their chilling sensitivity agreed well with the rate of rise of chlorophyll fluorescence (F$\_$R/) measured at 25$^{\circ}C$. The method of chlorophyll fluorescence was rapid, reproducible, sensitive and non-destructive and it should be a valuable new tool in screening large numbers of closely related rice varieties for chilling sensitivity.

Silk is a unique natural biopolymer with outstanding biocompatibility, high mechanical strength, and superior optical transparency. Due to its excellent properties, silk has been widely reported as an ideal biomaterial for several biomedical applications. Recently, fluorescent silk protein, a variant of native silk, has been reported as a biophotonic material with the potential for bioimaging and biosensing. Despite the realization of fluorescent silk, the traditional degumming process of fluorescence silk is crude and often results in fluorescence loss. The loss of fluorescent properties is attributed to the sensitivity of silk fibroin to temperature and solvent concentration during degumming. However, there is no comprehensive information on the influence of these processing parameters on fluorescence evolution and decay during fluorescent silk processing. Therefore, we conducted a spectroscopic study on fluorescence decay as a function of temperature, concentration, and duration for fluorescent silk cocoon degumming. Sodium carbonate solution was tested for degumming the fluorescent silk cocoons with different concentrations and temperatures; also, sodium carbonate solution is combined with Alcalase enzyme and triton x-100 to find optimal degumming conditions. Additionally, we conducted a molecular dynamics study to investigate the fundamental effect of temperature on the stability of the fluorescent protein. We observed degumming temperature as the prime source of fluorescent intensity reduction. From the MD study, fluorescence degradation originated from the thermal agitation of fluorescent protein Cα atoms and fluctuations of amino acid residues located in the chromophore region. Overall, degumming fluorescent silk with sodium carbonate and Alcalase enzyme solution at 25 ℃ preserved fluorescence.

The influences of fluorescence, scattering, and flocculation in turbid material by light scattering of N-propyl-N,N-dimethylethanolamine, fluorescence agent and absorption agent were interpreted for the scattered fluorescence intensity and wavelength. They have been studied the molecular properties by the spectroscopy of laser induced fluorescence (LIF) and flocculation. The effects of optical properties in scattering media have been found by the optical parameters(${\mu}_s$, ${\mu}_a$, ${\mu}_t$). Flocculation is an important step in many solid-liquid separation processes and is widely used. When two particles approach each other, interactions of several colloid particles can come into play which may have major effect on the flocculation and LIF process. The values of scattering coefficient ${\mu}_s$ are large by means of the increasing scattering of scatterer, The values have been found that the slope decays exponentially as a function of concentration from laser source to detector by our experimental result. It may also aid in designing the best model for oil chemistry, bio-pharmaceutical, laser medicine and application of medical engineering on LIF and coagulation in particle transport mode.

This study investigated the growth of native ferns under indoor light intensities to identify the introduction possibility as in-door ornamental plants. Three evergreen perennial fern species used in this experiment were Coniogramme japonica (Thunb.) Diels, Woodwardia japonica (L. f.) Sm., and Cyclosorus acuminatus (Houtt.) Nakai ex H. Itô. The light intensities were adjusted to 10, 50, 100 and 200 PPFD (µmol·m-2·s-1) based on the measurement of the various indoor light quantities. The experiment was conducted for a total of 8 weeks, and the light period (12/12h), temperature (25±1℃), and humidity (55±3%) were maintained during the experiment. The control plant group was grown in glass greenhouse for the same period. As the result of the study, in door C. japonica showed better growth under light intensities of 100, 200 PPFD. However, withering of the plants were observed under all light intensities except the control, which causes an ornamental value decrease. This seems to be related to the increase of DIo/RC value in chlorophyll fluorescence parameters. In the W. japonica growth data, the plant height was not significantly different from the control but, the leaf number decreased more than a two-fold. Also, the formed leaves turned brown and showed a poor growth and SPAD value at 200 PPFD had decreased significantly. Growth data of C. acuminatus was not significantly different with the control at all light intensities however, withering was observed at 100 and 200 PPFD. In chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, significant decrease in Pi_Abs and increase in DIo/RC value at 200 PPFD impose that stress caused by the intense light might be the reason of the withering of the plants.
