The purpose of this study is to explain the importance of Vibration Monitoring Device by introducing an example of Predictive Maintenance System using Condition Monitoring System of Hydro-turbine generator. Confirming vibration of generation equipment is commissioning procedure during equipment completion for checking guaranteed items. Data from Generator output range are used to determine output band to continue the performance of equipment. The Vibration Monitoring System is not absolute method of maintenance, but if it is used well with expert, it will be visible, data-analyzed, scientific maintenance more than others. And also, Condition Monitoring System is very important for remote controlled small hydro-power plant although most of it is installed in Large hydro-power plant.
A fuzzy control scheme has been proposed for a supercritical extraction process which has attracted much attention recently as a new separation technology. Based on the manual operation experience, three control pairs between manipulated and output variables are selected first and then seven membership functions are defined for control error and time rate of the error, respectively for each control pair, resulting in forty nine Fuzzy control rules. In addition to these, the membership functions are defined in two steps (coarse and fine) to enhance control performance. Fuzzy inference is performed using MAX-MTN composition rule and defuzzified control output is calculated based on center of gravity method. The prosed Fuzzy control scheme has been assessed through numerical simulation. As a result, the proposed scheme shows good control performance comparable with that by INA(inverse nyquist array) which usually requires complicated design procedure.
thermodynamic cycle analysis has been performed for the power generation systems to utilize the cold energy of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The power cycle used the air or water at room temperature as a heat source and the LNG at cryogenic temperature as a heat sink. Among manypossible configurations of the cycle. the open Rankine cycle. and the closed Brayton cycle, and the closed Rankine cycle are selected for the basic analysis because of their practical importance. The power output per unit mass of LNG has been analytically calculated for various design parameters such as the pressure ratio. the mass flow rate. the adiabatic efficiency. the heat exchanger effectiveness. or the working fluid. The optimal conditions for the parameters are presented to maximize the power output and the design considerations are discussed. It is concluded that the open Rankine cycle is the most recormmendable both in thermodynamic efficency and in practice.
In this study, an extended-state-observer (ESO) based non-linear servo control is introduced for an electro-hydrostatic actuator (EHA). Almost hydraulic systems not only are highly non-linear system that has mismatched uncertainties and external disturbances, but also can not measure some states. ESO that only use an output signal can be used to compensate these uncertainties and estimate unmeasurable states. To improve the position tracking performance, the barrier Lyapunov function (BLF) that can guarantee an output tolerance is introduced for the position tracking error signal of back stepping control procedures. Finally, the proposed servo control is compared with the proportional-integral (PI) control.

A new hardware temperature compensation method for hot-wire anemometer is investigated and an analog compensating circuit is proposed in this article. A photoconductive cell is introduced here as a variable resistor in the anemometer bridge and the linearized output of a thermistor is used to monitor the input of the photoconductive cell. In contrast with the conventional method, any type of temperature sensor can be used for compensation if once the output of thermometer varies linearly with temperature. So the present technique can diversify the compensating means from a conventional passive compensating resistance to currently available thermometers. Because the resistance of a photoconductive cell can be set precisely by adopting a stabilizing circuit whose operation is based on the integration function of the operational amplifier, the accuracy of compensation can be enhanced. As an example of linearized thermometer, thermistor sensor whose output is linearized by a series resistor was used to monitor the fluid temperature variation. Validation experiment is conducted in the temperature ranged from 30 deg. C to 60 deg. C and the velocity up to 40 m/s. It is found that the present technique can be adopted as a compensating circuit for anemometer and hot-wire type airflow meter.

Transmission of a tracked vehicle designed for multiple functions such as steering, gear-shifting, and braking is a core component of heavy vehicle to which the power is transferred based on combined technology of various gears, bearing, and fluid machineries. Robustness and durability of transmission, however, have been issued due to a large number of driving units and sub-components inside its body. Particularly, transmission housing is important structure which supports the transmission, and is made of aluminum alloy. Thus, structural robustness against such mechanical loading or vibration must be attained. Structural reliability evaluation through FEM analysis can save time and cost of the actual tests. In this study, structural evaluation is conducted on output housing of transmission, which is core component of tracked vehicle, using the simulation program. In addition, transmission dynamo test is performed to evaluate structural robustness of the output housing against the vibration which can be produced during the transmission operation.

Nanopiezotronics is an emerging area of nanotechnology with a variety of applications that include piezoelectric field-effect transistors and diodes, self-powered nanogenerators and biosystems, and wireless nano/biosensors. By exploiting coupled piezoelectric and semiconducting characteristics, it is possible for nanowires, nanobelts, or nanorods to generate rectifying current and potential under external mechanical energies such as body movement (handling, winding, pushing, and bending) and muscle stretching, vibrations (acoustic and ultrasonic waves), and hydraulic forces (body fluid and blood flow). Fully transparent, flexible (TF) nanogenerators that are operated by external mechanical forces will be presented. By controlling the density of the seed layer for ZnO nanorod growth, transparent ZnO nanorod arrays were grown on ITO/PES films, and a TF conductive electrode was stacked on the ZnO nanorods. The resulting integrated TF nanodevice (having transparency exceeding 70 %) generated a noticeable current when it was pushed by application of an external load. The output current density was clearly dependent on the force applied. Furthermore, the output current density depended strongly on the morphology and the work function of the top electrode. ZnO nanorod-based nanogenerators with a PdAu, ITO, CNT, and graphene top electrodes gave output current densities of approximately $1-10\;uA/cm^2$ at a load of 0.9 kgf. Our results suggest that our TF nanogenerators are suitable for self-powered TF device applications such as flexible self-powered touch sensors, wearable artificial skins, fully rollable display mobile devices, and battery supplements for wearable cellular phones.
A detailed computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation analysis model was developed using ANSYS CFX 16.1 and analyzed to simulate the basic design and internal flow characteristics of a 180 MW small modular reactor (SMR) with a natural circulation flow system. To analyze the natural circulation phenomena without a pump for the initial flow generation inside the reactor, the flow characteristics were evaluated for each output assuming various initial powers relative to the critical condition. The eddy phenomenon and the flow imbalance phenomenon at each output were confirmed, and a flow leveling structure under the core was proposed for an optimization of the internal natural circulation flow. In the steady-state analysis, the temperature distribution and heat transfer speed at each position considering an increase in the output power of the core were calculated, and the conceptual design of the SMR had a sufficient thermal margin (31.4 K). A transient model with the output ranging from 0% to 100% was analyzed, and the obtained values were close to the Thot and Tcold temperature difference value estimated in the conceptual design of the SMR. The K-factor was calculated from the flow analysis data of the CFX model and applied to an analysis model in RELAP5/MOD3.3, the optimal analysis system code for nuclear power plants. The CFX analysis results and RELAP analysis results were evaluated in terms of the internal flow characteristics per core output. The two codes, which model the same nuclear power plant, have different flow analysis schemes but can be used complementarily. In particular, it will be useful to carry out detailed studies of the timing of the steam generator intervention when an SMR is activated. The thermal and hydraulic characteristics of the models that applied porous media to the core & steam generators and the models that embodied the entire detail shape were compared and analyzed. Although there were differences in the ability to analyze detailed flow characteristics at some low powers, it was confirmed that there was no significant difference in the thermal hydraulic characteristics' analysis of the SMR system's conceptual design.
In this paper, a constant frequency phase shifting PWM-controlled voltage source full bridge-type series load resonant high-frequency inverter using the $4^{th}$ generation IGBT power modules is presented for innovative consumer electromagnetic induction heating applications, such as a hot water producer, steamer and super heated steamer. The bridge arm side link passive capacitive snubbers in parallel with each power semiconductor device and AC load side linked active edge inductive snubber-assisted series load resonant tank soft switching inverter with a constant frequency phase shifted PWM control scheme is evaluated and discussed on the basis of the simulation and experimental results. It is proved from a practical point of view that the series load resonant and edge resonant hybrid high-frequency inverter topology, what is called, DE class type, including the variable-power variable-frequency regulation function can expand zero voltage soft switching commutation area even under low output power setting ranges, which is more suitable and acceptable for newly developed induction heated dual pack fluid heaters. Furthermore, even the lower output power regulation mode of this high-frequency load resonant tank inverter circuit is verified so that this inverter can achieve ZVS with the aid of the single auxiliary inductor snubber.
A constant solid state flow velocity/mass sensor has been fabricated and its characteristics were measured according to flow velocity and fluid temperature. Parameters of the sensor circuit were obtained by simulation using finite difference method. Sensitivity was 10mW/(cm/sec) in the range of flow velocity 0-45cm/sec and response time was within two seconds. For the experiment of fluid temperature variation, the sensor output was compensated at the rate of temperature variation $0.1^{\circ}C/min$, however, with the rate of $0.2^{\circ}C/min$ it took two minutes to be compensated. Since it is not quite often to have such a rate of temperature variation of $0.2^{\circ}C/min$ or more, the developed sensor output can be used for most applications to detect small amount of flow-rate.
