비보호 좌회전 포화유률 추정 (Estimation of Unprotected Left-Turn Saturation Flows)

  • When the capacity and traffic operation at signalized intersections are analyzed in Korea, the unprotected left-turn saturation flow rate, which is an important parameter for the analysis, is estimated form the USHCM model. thus, exact analysis of the left-turn is not possible because of the difference of traffic environments between two contries. In order to improve this problem, it is undertaken in this study to develop techniques for the estimation of unprotected left-turn saturation flows based on Korean drivers' data. As study intersections, signalized or unsignalized intersections on the 6, 4 and 2 lane streets are selected. the data for the saturation flow measurement and gap-acceptance behavior analysis are inputed in a notebook computer on the sites. The critical acceptance gaps of the 6, 4, and 2 lane streets are analyzed to be 6.0 secs, 4.6 secs, and 4.3 secs respectively. the average minimum headway of the left-turn vehicle was observed to be 2.6 secs. As the model to estimate unportected left-turn saturation flows, the drew model is recommended for 6 and 4 lane streets, and a graph is suggested for the 2-lane street. As the values of the parameters of the Drew model, the 2.6 secs of this study is recommended for the average minimum headway of the left-turn. But, the critical acceptance gap varies according to the approach speed of opposing traffic and driver population, it requires field survey to measure the gap of an intersection; however, the values of the gaps studied in this study may be used for the general intersections in urban area in Korean.

Numerical wind load estimation of offshore floating structures through sustainable maritime atmospheric boundary layer

  • Wind load is one of the major design loads for the hull and mooring of offshore floating structures, especially due to much larger windage area above water than under water. By virtue of extreme design philosophy, fully turbulent flow assumption can be justified and the hydrodynamic characteristics of the flow remain almost constant which implies the wind load is less sensitive to the Reynolds number around the design wind speed than wind profile. In the perspective of meteorology, wind profile used for wind load estimation is a part of Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL), especially maritime ABL (MBL) and have been studied how to implement the profile without losing turbulence properties numerically by several researchers. In this study, the MBL is implemented using an open source CFD toolkit, OpenFOAM and extended to unstable ABL as well as neutral ABL referred to as NPD profile. The homogeneity of the wind profile along wind direction is examined, especially with NPD profile. The NPD profile was applied to a semi-submersible rig and estimated wind load was compared with the results from wind tunnel test.

신호교차로에서 U-Turn허용구간의 위치 및 적정길이 산정에 관한 연구 (A Study on U-Turn Location and Length Estimation at Signalized Intersection)

  • U-Turn은 운전자에게 편의를 제공하며 차량의 소통효율을 향상시키는 측면도 있지만 U-Turn에 대한 설치기준 및 법제규정과 안전시설 설치기준들이 명확치 않아 교통소통과 교통안전에 문제를 야기시키고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 첫째, 교통량과 주행속도를 주요 변수로 하여 차량의 정지시거와 좌회전차량들의 대기행렬길이를 고려한 U-Turn 허용구간과 전방교차로와의 적정 이격거리를 산정한다. 둘째, 현장조사를 통해 실제 U-Turn 차량의 행태를 분석하여 상충형태를 분류하고 상충과 U-Turn 허용구간의 길이와의 관계분석을 통해 차로변경각도와 주행속도를 변수로 하여 U-Turn 허용구간의 길이를 산정한다. 마지막으로 U-Turn허용구간과 후방교차로의 거리는 교통량과 주행속도, 차로변경각도를 주요변수로 하여 간격수락이론을 통해 적정이격거리를 산정한다. 그리고 몇 가지 교통조건들의 환경을 설정하여 모의실험을 실시한다. 이를 통해 본 연구에서는 소통과 안전을 고려한 U-Turn허용구간의 적정길이 및 위치를 제시한다.

수중 노즐에서 발생하는 기포의 형상 및 음향 특성 연구 (Investigation on Shapes and Acoustic Characteristics of Air Bubbles Generated by an Underwater Nozzle)

  • It is well known that the acoustic characteristics of the sea are significantly affected by bubbles which have their own inherent characteristics at the undersea. In this study, the shape and acoustic characteristics of air bubbles generated by an underwater nozzle are calculated numerically, and are measured with a high speed camera and a hydrophone at various air flow rates in the experimental apparatus. As a result of analysis, the shape calculated numerically well matched with measured values at low flow rates, but in case of relatively higher flow rates. the use of correction coefficient is needed for more accurate estimation of the bubble shape. And also the rising velocity of a single bubble is constant regardless of both the bubble size and the flow rate. and the acoustic signal generated when the bubble is produced by an underwater nozzle has the same characteristic of natural frequency of the bubble pulsation, and is agreed with Minnaert's equation if the correction coefficient is considered in accordance with the flow rate.

다 해상도 프레임 구조에 기반한 고속 움직임 추정 기법 (A FAST MOTION ESTIMATION ALGORITHM BASED ON MULTI-RESOLUTION FRAME STRUCTURE)

  • We present a novel multi-resolution block matching algorithm (BMA) for fast motion estimation. At the coarsest level, a full search BMA (FSBMA) is performed for searching complex or random motion. Concurrently, spatial correlation of motion vector (MV) field is used for searching continuous motion. Here we present an efficient method for searching full resolution MVs without MV decimation even at the coarsest leve. After the coarsest level search, two or three initial MV candidates are chosen for the next level. At the further levels, the MV candidates are refined within much smaller search areas. Simulation results show that in comparison with FSBMA, the proposed BMA achieves a speed-up factor over 710 with minor PSNR degradation of 0.2dB at most, under a normal MPEG2 coding environment. Furthermore, our scheme is also suitable for hardware implementation due to regular data-flow.

  • This paper concerns the active aeroelastic control of flapped wing systems exposed to blast and/or the sonic boom in an incompressible flow field. This is achieved via implementation of a robust estimation capability (sliding mode observer: SMO), and of the use of the deflected flap as to suppress the flutter instability or enhance the subcritical aeroelastic response to blast loads. To this end, a control methodology using LQG(Linear Quadratic Gaussian) in conjunction with SMO is implemented, and its performance toward suppressing flutter and reducing the vibrational level in the subcritical flight speed range is demonstrated. Moreover, its performances are compared to the ones provided via implementation of conventional LQG with Kalman filter.

수직형 풍동을 응용한 고공강하 시뮬레이터의 설계에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Design of Free-Fall Simulator using concept of Vertical Wind Tunnel)

  • In this study, the design of Free-Fall Simulator was carried out using concept of vertical wind tunnel. Free-Fall Simulator is not an experimental equipment but a training equipment. Therefore Free-Fall Simulator needs a large training section compared with test section of wind tunnel and has critical limit of height. These limits bring about the difficulty of design for a return passage. Due to small area ratio, the downstream flow of training section with high speed is not decelerated adequately to the fan section. High-speed flow leads to great losses in the small area ratio diffuser and corner. So design of diffusers and corners located between training section and fan section has a great effect on the Free-Fall Simulator performance. This study used an estimation method of subsonic wind tunnel performance. It considered each section of Free-Fall Simulator as an independent section. Therefore loss of one section didn't affect loss of other sections. Because losses of corner with vane and $1^{st}$ diffuser are most parts of overall Free-Fall Simulator, this study focused on the design of these sections.

도로공사로 인한 부(-)의 편익 반영 및 경제성 분석 (Estimation of Road User Costs Caused by Work Zones and Economic Analysis in the Feasibility Study)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 예비타당성조사에서 수행한 도시부 간선도로 확장공사로 인한 부(-)의 편익을 산정하고 이것이 경제성 평가에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 북부간선도로 태릉-구리 간 확장사업의 실제 예비타당성조사 단계에서 통상적인 편익 산출 방법론을 적용하였으며, 공사로 인한 차량운행비용, 통행시간, 교통사고, 환경비용의 부(-)의 편익을 산출하였다. 분석 결과, 부(-)의 편익의 적용여부는 사업의 경제적 타당성 평가에 많은 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 공사기간, 공사의 종류, 공사구간 및 교통량 등에 따라 부(-)의 편익에 많은 영향을 주는 감소되는 용량 및 자유속도가 현저하게 다를 수 있으며, 향후에는 이러한 요소와 용량 및 자유속도에 대한 상세한 연구가 필요할 것이다.

Resistance Reduction of a High Speed Small Boat by Air Lubrication

  • The resistance reduction by an air lubrication effect of a large air cavity covering the hull bottom surface and the similarity relations involved have been investigated with a series of towing tank tests of three geometrically similar models. The test results of geometrically similar models have indicated that a large air cavity was formed beneath the bottom having a backward-facing step by artificially supplying air is effective for resistance reduction. The areas of air cavity and the required flow rates of air are directly related to the effective wetted surface area. The traditional extrapolation methods seem to be applicable to the estimation of the resistance in the tested range if corrections are made to account the changes in the frictional resistance caused by the changes in the effective wetted surface area. To investigate the effectiveness of air lubrication in improving the resistance performance of a practical ship, a small test boat having a backward-facing step under its bottom has been manufactured and speed trials in a river have been performed. Air has been supplied artificially into the downstream region of the bottom step to form a large air cavity covering the bottom surface. The results have confirmed the practical applicability of air lubrication for the resistance reduction of a small high-speed boat.

고속 무선 전송에서 상관관계를 이용한 채널 추정방식 (Channel Estimation Method Using the Correlation in the High-Speed Wireless Transmissions)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속전송을 위해 넓은 대역폭을 사용하는 OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiflex)시스템에서 심각한 주파수 선택적 페이딩 환경에서도 강한 특성을 갖는 FE(Frequency Estimation) 채널 추정 기법을 제안하였다. 시간적으로 천천히 변화하는 채널에서 주로 사용하는 채널추정기법은 상관도가 높은 심볼간 데이터를 이용하는 DDCE(Decision Directed Channel Estimation)기법이 있다. DDCE는 주파수 비선택적인 환경에서는 높은 이득을 보이지만 시스템 대역폭이 증가함에 따라 심각한 주파수 선택적 페이딩 환경이 되어 데이터의 신뢰도가 떨어지면 에러 플로우 현상이 일어나게 된다. 제안한 방법인 FE 기법은 주파수 선택적 페이딩 채널에서 OFDM의 부반송파간의 상관관계를 이용하여 목표 주파수에서의 채널 추정감을 인접 부반송파의 채널 추정값들의 평균으로 적응시켜주어 이득을 얻는다. FE 기법은 DDCE처럼 데이터를 이용하지 않고 프리엠블만을 이용하기 때문에 데이터의 신뢰도와 관계된 전송율과 다중 경로 수에 독립적이다 본 논문에서 제안한 FE 기법은 DDCE의 에러 플로우가 발생한 넓은 대역폭을 가진 시스템에서도 이득을 얻을 수 있어 심각한 주파수 선택적 페이딩 환경에서 유용하다.
