An free breathing proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) was developed. This paper presents a study of the several effect on the performance of a fuel cell such as air flow rate, opening ratio, and cathode structures. Especially, an air flow rate is critical condition to improve the fuel cell performance. In this paper, we developed a synthetic jet micro air blower to supply high stoichiometric air. The synthetic jet actuation is usually generated by a traditional PZT-driven actuator, which consists of a small cylindrical cavity, orifices and PZT diaphragms. In comparison with free convection fuel cells, the forced-convection fuel cell which equipped synthetic jet micro air blower brings higher performance and stability for long term test. Also, power consumption of the synthetic jet micro air blower is under 0.3W. The results show that the maximum power density was $188mW/cm^2$ at $400mA/cm^2$. The maximum power density was higher 40% than power density of free convection fuel cell.

We present a high-throughput continuous cell separation chip using hydrodynamic dielectrophoresis (DEP) process. The continuous cell separation chip uses three planar electrodes in a separation channel, where the positive DEP cells are moved away from the central streamline while the negative DEP cells remain in the central streamline. In the experimental study, we use the mixture of viable (live) and nonviable (dead) yeast cells in order to obtain the continuous cell separation conditions. For the conditions of the electric fields frequency of 5MHz and the medium conductivity of $5{\mu}S/cm$, the fabricated chip performs a continuous separation of the yeast cell mixture at the varying flow-rate in the range of $0.1{\sim}{\mu{\ell}/min$.; thereby, resulting in the purity ranges of $95.9{\sim}97.3\%\;and\;64.5{\sim}74.3\%$ respectively for the viable and nonviable yeast cells. present chip demonstrates the constant cell separation performance for varying mixture flow-rates.

Three-dimensional cavity flow is analyzed with the code by using unstructured grid. Incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are used as governing equations, and governing equations are discretized by Finite Volume Method. Artificial compressibility method, proposed by Chorin, and developed by Soh, is used for coupling a pressure and a velocity. Cell-centered scheme is adopted in the code, this has the effect of having denser grid than nodal scheme when the same grid is used. Weighted Averaging scheme is used for the value at a nodal point. Cavity flow is analyzed, and this computed results are compared with the results in the research report
An unstructured overset mesh method has been developed for the simulation of unsteady viscous flow fields around multiple bodies in relative motion. For this purpose, a robust and fast search technique is proposed for both triangle and high-aspect quadrilateral cell elements. The interpolation boundary is defined for data communication between grid systems and an interpolation method is suggested for viscous and inviscid cell elements. This method has been applied to calculate the flow fields around 2-D airfoil including relative motion. Validation were made by comparing the predicted results with those of experiments or other researcher's numerical results. It was demonstrated that the present method is efficient and robust for the prediction of unsteady time-accurate flow fields involving multiple bodies in relative motion.

This research was carried out to evaluate feasibility of using an Electrokinetic-Fenton(EK-Fenton) technique to treat hydrophobic organic pollutant(phenanthrene) from soils. Experiment examined the effect by introducing a continuous flow of a 3.5% hydrogen peroxide solution at the anode. An electric gradient of 1V/cm was applied to enhance the saturated flow in the soil cell for a period of 11 days. After 11 days or 1 pore volume, overall concentration of residual phenanthrene in the soil cell was 11% and residual phenanathrene concentration in the soil was found to increase with toward the cathode. This results indicated that Fenton-like reaction catalyzed by mineral surface was effective in oxidizing phenanthrene. This results also showed that hydrogen peroxide was effectively transported into the soil by electroosmotic flow as well as by diffusion.
TCV(Temperature control valve by pressure compensation) controls temperature constantly, when it is sending steam or high temperature water to heating device of heat exchanger. For designing TCV, the ratio of piston and hole diameters is one of the important design parameters. Numerical analysis is carried out to elucidate the flow characteristics in the TCV with different port areas of cold and hot waters, using the k-$\epsilon$ turbulence model and Cartesian cut-cell method. Numerical results show that the exit flow rate is mainly affected by pressure distribution in the piston.
Numerical computations are carried out to analyze the characteristics of flow fields around Air Supported Ships. The computations are performed in a rectangular grid system based on MAC(Marker And Cell) method. The governing equations are represented in finite difference forms by forward differencing in time and centered differencing in space except for its convection terms. For the certification of this numerical analysis method, the computations of flow fields around a Catamaran, an ACV(Air Cushion Vehicle) modeled with pressure distribution on free surface and two SES(Surface Effect Ship)'s are carried out, The results of the present computations are compared with the previously presented computational and experimental results in the same condition.
The distributions of mass flow rate and pressure are major factors to deside the performance of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). These factors are affected by channel configuration of air plate. In this paper. structural analysis is performed to investigate deformation of porous media. Two kind of models are suggest for flow analyses. Deformed porous media and undeformed porous media are considered for air plate model. The Numerical flow analysis results with deformed porous media and undeformed porous media had some discrepancy in pressure distribution. The pressure and velocity in a working condition are numerically calculated to predict the performance of the air plates. Distributions of the parameters in the PEMFC are analyzed numerically under steady-state conditions.
In this paper the numerical method with a zonal embedded grid system for an incompressible flow within a semi-circular container is presented. The algorithm is validated by its application to some typical flow models including the spin-up flow inside a semi-circular geometry. Flow visualization for the spin-up flows was used by PIV. The results show that at high Reynolds numbers the cyclonic cell at the left-hand side region moves along the circular wall and merges with the cell at the right-hand side region.
The paper deals with a inverter control scheme to apply feeder flow control in the hybrid system consisted of a photovoltaic system and a fuel-cell system. The inverter operation modes and a feeder control reference is changed by changing of the loads. Simulation results using the PSCAD/EMTDC are presented to establish a inverter control method for a Feeder flow control mode.
