  • Flora and distribution of vascular plants included introduced species of Mt. Nam park in Seoul were investigated from 1997 to 1998. The flora was composed of 112 families, 338 genera, 487 species, 1 subspecies, 60 varieties, 11 forma or 559 taca. Whole taxa of Mt. Nam calculated with the other reports were recorded 125 families, 461 genera, 832 species, 2 subspecies, 115 varieties, 14 forma or 963 taxa. Mt. nam area has lost its properties because of road and promenade construction, several park reclaimation, introduction of foreign species and exotic plants, and so on. The urbanized index (UI) was comparatively high at 18.3%. Eupatorium rugosum which shown high shade tolerance comparatively was occupied dominantly in road sides. The natural ecosystem and biodiversity of Mt. Nam were under threatened by introduced species. DBH mode of Pinus densiflora community was shown bell shape but that of Quercus mongolica was shown reverse J shape, therefore, it will be occupied in the future this area dominantly by Q. mongolica community. However the vegetation of Mt. nam park area are repressing by superior position in their growth of introduced species included R. pseudo-acacia, Ailanthus altissima and E. rugosum, etc.

  • This study was surveyed to identify changes of flora during three years after restoration in Cheonggyecheon stream. There are four sections in Cheonggyecheon. One and two sections are upper streams and three and four sections are down streams. It was surveyed 328 species in 2006. In 2007 and 2008, 446 and 444 species were found, respectively. This result shows that Cheonggyecheon is unstable initial condition in restored stream ecosystem. Naturalized species were 58 species in 2006 and it was respectively 61 and 63 species in 2007 and 2008. Hazard species of ecosystem were three common species during survey period. In appearance of flora per section, three and four sections constituted by natural sites such as point bars, wide flood plains, riffles and ponds, marshes, etc. were surveyed more species than one and two constructed by concrete materials and narrow flow channel. Recently, as time goes by, introduced species are being increased. And succession has mainly been progressed by one year or binary herbs and perennial herbs. Compared with other restored streams, Cheonggyecheon showed more flora than Yangjaecheon and Anyangcheon. It is judged owing to length of surveyed site, various planted species and area of inhabitation space. To manage restored stream ecosystem, monitoring is essential. Further, because change of vegetation after restoration in Cheonggyecheon is very important, continuous monitoring about Flora and Naturalized species and Hazard species of ecosystem is also very important.

  • It was found that a total of 94 species of marine algae, 13 green algae, 24 brown algae, and 57 red algae, are living at the seashore of Oho-ri in this study. 739 voucher specimens for 94 species were made based on plants from March to September 2010 at the 3 islets, including Heukdo, Goraebawi, and Juckdo. Voucher specimens were catalogued and deposited in the herbarium of the National Institute of Biological Resources (KB) of Korea.

  • Since 1984, the author has been studying the Daedong flora and has collected a large number of fossil plants from the Amisan Formation of Nampo Group distributed in Chungnam Coal-Field. One of the fossil plants was bennettitalean male flower, which was collected in 1986. The author described it as Weltrichia sp. The occurrence of Weltrichia sp. is the first record in the Early Mesozoic Daedong flora of Korea.

  • The sea hare Aplysia kurodai is an economic species located along the Korean coast. This study aimed to investigate the stomach contents of A. kurodai and its relationship with marine algal flora surrounding their habitat. A. kurodai and marine algae were sampled in seven and five areas in the East and the South seas, respectively. The marine algae found in the stomach and surrounding marine habitat were identified. In the East Sea of Korea, 134 species of seaweed were recorded. Thirty-nine species of marine algae were identified in the stomach contents of A. korudai collected from the East Sea of Korea. Seventy-five species of seaweed were collected in the South Sea of Korea. In addition, 26 species of marine algae were identified in the stomach contents of A. kurodai from the South Sea of Korea. Among the stomach contents of A. kurodai, ten sheet,12 filamentous, 27 coarsely branched, and one jointed calcareous form species were identified.

  • I have done several papers of flowering periods in selected floras of the world since 1969. In this paper, the patterns of flowering periods of floras, Tierra del Fuego, Isl. Barro Colorado and Karuizawa are compared. The total sums of monthly percentages of flowering taxa are 335.6 in Tierra del Fuego, 723.9 in Barro Colorado Isl. and 192.8 in Karuizawa, Japan. The patterns of Barro Colorado Isl. showed as a tropical area's patterns of flowering periods, therefore abundant flowers in there all the year round, but it is very different to tropical Java's flowering periods of the flora. The patterns of Tierra del Fuego is closely related to the patterns of flowering periods of the Falkland Isl. flora. The patterns of flowering periods of Karuiza flora is represented as patterns of northern temperate region's.

  • There are 474 species of native vascular plant distributed in offshore islands in Shandong Province, which belong to 262 genera and 82 families. The distribution types of genera of seed plant were classified into 15 types. Temperate characteristic is dominant in the flora of offshore islands and tropical characteristic ranks secondary. Therefore, some islands play the role of stepping islands. Furthermore, 98.85% of the total genera are monotypic or bitypic which shows the offshore habitat heterogeneity in Shandong Province.

  • A great portion of the marginal zone in Lake Gocheonam was covered with reed plants. Algae attached to the reed stems were exclusively composed of diatoms. Sixty-six species of diatoms were encountered in a floral survey. The important species were Nitzschia liebetruthii Rabh., Nitzschia acicularis (Ku¨tz.) W. Sm., Navicula gregaria Donk., Cocconeis placentula var. lineata (Ehr.) V.H. etc. Among the diatom flora, six species - Navicula nivalis Ehr., Navicula recens Lange-B., Nitzschia angustatula Lange-B., Nitzschia compressa (Bail.) Boyer, Nitzschia lanceola var. minutula Grin. and Surirella crumena Bre´b. - were recorded in Korea for the first times. Life forms of the reed-attached diatoms were simply prostrate. The biomass of epiphytic algae ranged from 0.05㎍ chl-$\alpha$ cm$^{-2}$ to 2.32$\mu$g chl-$\alpha$ cm$^{-2}$. The algal biomass of dead stems was higher than that of the living stems, and their flora were rich. The algal biomass reached a maximum in the spring after the death of the reed plants. The reed plants exhibited rich diatom flora and significantly high algal biomass on their stems to have taxonomical and ecological importance in the freshwater.
