Floor finishing materials such as floor coverings and floor mats can reduce floor impact noise easily. When an impact was applied to the floor, its finishing material is deformed and the impact force that was applied to the concrete slab is changed. The softer finishing materials were, the more impact force decreased. An experimental study was performed using 14 PVC floor coverings and 16 floor mats to capture the characteristics of impact force and impact noise in the residential buildings. The test results show that the impact force spectrum and the floor impact noise spectrum have a linear relationship in the case of a bare concrete slab, and the characteristics of impact force reduction are the same as those of floor impact noise reduction.

Floor impact sounds from two different floor systems were measured. One of the two floor systems is a dry floor system (with 150mm concrete slab) and the other is a standard floor system (210mm concrete slab). Real impact sources such as jumping and running of children were used as well as standard impact sources (bang machine, impact ball and tapping machine) to evaluate sound Isolation of the two floor systems. Subjective evaluations of the floor impact sound isolation performance for the two systems were also conducted by the methods of 3 scales & 9 categories, paired comparison and semantic differentials. Measurement results indicate that floor impact sound isolation performance of the dry floor was better than that of standard floor in both cases of real and standard impact sources. The subjects in auditory experiments also evaluated the dry floor as a better sound isolation system.

We constructed ceiling structure and floor structure for elevation of sound insulation performance of concrete slab of apartment house. And, we wished to measure heavy floor impact sound level and light floor impact sound level of these structure. As the result, light floor impact sound level interception performance of concrete slab was measured by thing that construction work of gypsum baud is important. Heavy floor impact sound level interception performance was measured by thing that it is effective that construct to thickness about 30 millimeters on concrete Slav. It was measured effectively that heavy floor impact sound level interception performance constructs rubber chip to thickness about 30 millimeters on concrete Slav.

Floor Impact Noise is a structure-borne noise which is mainly caused by vibration of concrete slabs. The majority of previous studies have focused on investigating performance of absorbing sheets on the reduction of floor impact noise. But absorbing sheets do not efficiently reduce heavy-weight floor impact noise level because it cannot absorb slab vibration, which is the fundamental noise source. In this study, double-floor system was developed in order to reduce floor impact noise level in residual buildings. This floor system reduces heavy-weight impact noise level by reducing vibration response at the center of slab, which has maximum amplitude in the 1st vibration mode. In order to identify the performance of the double-floor system, experiments were planned. Primary test parameters are span of double floor, arrangement and types of absorbing sheets.

In these days the floor vibration is beginning to make its appearance of the environmental dispute in apartment building. Standard floor system are suggested for the settlement of this issue by government. The sound of floor impact sound is needed to secure comfortable quality in housing. Also, it is required an accurate analysis and a proper evaluation for floor vibration. Refine model is necessary for the floor system of housing to analyze accurately the floor vibration. But this refine model is not efficient because it is required so much running time for vibration analysis and it is difficult of modeling of standard floor slab. In this paper, new modeling methods of standard floor slab are proposed for the accurate rigidity evaluation. By using the new modeling method, the accurate vibration response can be obtained and can accurately evaluate the rigidity of standard floor system with resilient materials. Therefore the proposed modeling method is of practical use for vibration analysis of floor system of apartment building.

This paper presents an experimental study on the behavior of composite floor slab comprised by a new steel sheet and concrete slab. The strength of composite slabs depends mainly on the strength of the connection between the steel sheet and concrete, which is denoted by longitudinal shear strength. The composite slabs have three main failures modes, failure by bending, vertical shear failure and longitudinal shear failure. These modes are based on the load versus deflection curves that are obtained in bending tests. The longitudinal shear failure is brittle due to the mechanical connection was not capable of transferring the shear force until the failure by bending occurs. The vertical shear failure is observed in slabs with short span, large heights and high concentrated loads subjected near the supports. In order to analyze the behavior of the composite slab with a new steel sheet, six bending tests were undertaken aiming to provide information on their longitudinal shear strength, and to assess the failure mechanisms of the proposed connections. Two groups of slabs were tested, one with 3000 mm in length and other with 1500 mm in length. The tested composite slabs showed satisfactory composite behavior and longitudinal shear resistance, as good as well, the analysis confirmed that the developed sheet is suitable for use in composite structures without damage to the global behavior.

Noise complaints among neighbors in apartment building are mainly caused by floor impact noise that is structure born noise due to occupant induced floor vibration. To control this noise problems many researchers have investigated floor systems and finishing materials. Light-weight impact noise affects by finishing materials, but heavy-weight impact noise induced by heel impacts during normal walking or jumping of children is concerned with structural system and floor vibration. To figure out the characteristics of floor impact noise and transmission of floor vibration due to human activities, vibration tests were conducted in apartment buildings. Impact hammer, heel drop and walking activities were loaded at center of upstairs living room, and accelerations of slabs for both upstairs and downstairs and sound pressure levels for downstairs were measured. The acceleration ratio of transmitted floor vibration to downstairs and human induced vibration in upstairs was between 0.5 and 1.0 according to slab size, wall, and load type. And floor impact noise occurred in the range of natural frequency of slab.

Most high rise buildings have been constructed with steel structure systems with metal deck floors and concrete topping. Since the mass of the metal deck floor system is relatively thinner than that of the concrete floor system and due to the larger span compared to other floor systems, vibration serviceability problems are frequently occurred. Most of vibration problems are induced by the movement of humans. A walking load function was proposed for the better estimation of composite deck floor vibration based on site measurements in this paper.
The floor response spectrum (FRS) is used to evaluate the seismic demand of equipment installed in nuclear power plants. In the conventional design practice of NPP structure, the FRS is simplified using the lumped-mass stick model (LMSM), assuming the floor slab as a rigid diaphragm. In the present study, to study the variation of seismic response in a floor, the FRSs at different locations were generated by 3-D finite element model, and the response was compared to that of the rigid diaphragm model. The result showed that the FRS significantly varied due to the large opening in a floor, which was not captured by the rigid diaphragm model. Based on the result, seismic fragility analysis was performed for the anchorage of a heat exchanger, to investigate the effect of location-dependent FRS disparity on the high confidence low probability of failure (HCLPF).
