Development of the Global-Korean Aviation Turbulence Guidance (Global-KTG) System Using the Global Data Assimilation and Prediction System (GDAPS) of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) (기상청 전지구 수치예보모델을 이용한 전지구 한국형 항공난류 예측시스템(G-KTG) 개발)

  • The Global-Korean aviation Turbulence Guidance (G-KTG) system is developed using the operational Global Data Assimilation and Prediction System of Korea Meteorological Administration with 17-km horizontal grid spacing. The G-KTG system provides an integrated solution of various clear-air turbulence (CAT) diagnostics and mountain-wave induced turbulence (MWT) diagnostics for low [below 10 kft (3.05 km)], middle [10 kft (3.05 km) - 20 kft (6.10 km)], and upper [20 kft (6.10 km) - 50 kft (15.24 km)] levels. Individual CAT and MWT diagnostics in the G-KTG are converted to a 1/3 power of energy dissipation rate (EDR). 12-h forecast of the G-KTG is evaluated using 6-month period (2016.06~2016.11) of in-situ EDR observation data. The forecast skill is calculated by area under curve (AUC) where the curve is drawn by pairs of probabilities of detection of "yes" for moderate-or-greater-level turbulence events and "no" for null-level turbulence events. The AUCs of G-KTG for the upper, middle, and lower levels are 0.79, 0.69, and 0.63, respectively. Comparison of the upper-level G-KTG with the regional-KTG in East Asia reveals that the forecast skill of the G-KTG (AUC = 0.77) is similar to that of the regional-KTG (AUC = 0.79) using the Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System with 12-km horizontal grid spacing.

  • Modem version of supersonic jet fighter aircraft must have been guaranteed appropriate controllability and stability in HAoA(High Angle of Attack). Limit value of aircraft entering into the departure in HAoA is related to aircraft configuration design. But, the control law such as AoA and yaw-rate limiter is implemented in digital Fly-By-Wire flight control system of supersonic jet fighter to guarantee the aircraft's safety in HAoA. The HAoA flight control law have two parts, one is control law of departure prevention and the other is control law of departure recovery support. The control laws of departure prevention for advanced jet trainer consist AoA limiter, roll command limiter and rudder fader. The control laws of departure recovery support are consist yaw-rate limiter and MPO(Manual Pitch Override) mode. The guideline of pitch rocking using MPO mode is simple, but operating skill of pitch rocking is very difficult by the pilot with inexperience of departure situation. This paper addresses the design and validation of APR(Automatic Pitch Rocker) control law instead of MPO in order to automatic recovery without manual pitch rocking by the pilot. And, recovery characteristic with APR verifies by the nonlinear analysis and pilot evaluation.

This paper addresses the design and validation for APRS to recovery of an deep stall without manual pitch rocking by the pilot. Also, this system is designed to recovery of speed, attitude and altitude after deep stall recovery using ATCS (Automatic Thrust Control System) and autopilot. Finally, this system is verified by real-time pilot evaluation using HQS (Handling Quality Simulator).

  • Civil aircraft must have captain and first officer. In general, the captain fulfills his role and responsibility for preventing danger during aircraft operation, and the first officer is in charge of assisting the captain. Historicclay, as 70% to 80% of aircraft accidents have been caused by pilot human factors, crew resource management (CRM)has been introduced and operated worldwide. On the other hand, safety behavior is a human behavior to protect from danger using knowledge and skills, and the captain and the first officer who perform operations in the aircraft's cockpit are expected to have different levels of safety behavior according to differences in competence, responsibility, and experience. Preceding studies have shown that pilots' safety behavior is influenced by non-technical factors such as CRM Skills rather than technical ability, and this study was conducted to identify differences in CRM competencies between captain and first officer and to verify whether the differences are correlated with safety behavior.

  • This researched is an investigation about the youths runaways street life experienced, the crimes committed through the influenced living in the street by looking into the effectiveness of the youth welfare and make an observation of their direction. The survey was conducted on young people who met in the youth shelter and outreach program, and finally analyzed 259 copies. The results of the study are as follows. First, When comparing the ages of the runaway youths if not properly given a support, services and prevention after running away from home, these youth will live their life in the street until their adolescents. Second, Runaway youth shelter has been providing the needs of those runaway youth who came in the shelter. However, it needs necessary new policy and services that will augment the support in solving problems of the youths when they visit youth shelter to ask for help and support. Third, It can be seen that the flight behavior after the street life is increased. They are in a situation where they have no choice but to join the juveniles for street life. Finally, Street life Youth self-reliance, support for living expenses, housing facilities, job opportunities, technical and job skill training were highly desired by the youths. Eventually, the intervention of youth living in street life requires a multifaceted support such as housing, labor, education, and welfare.
