CRT 디스플레이의 패널곡률이 시각작업 수행도와 안피로도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Panel Convexity on Visual Performance and Fatigue in Using Cathode-Ray Tube (CRT) Displays)

  • An experiment was carried out to compare the suitability in visual tasks between flat and conventional (convex) cathode-ray tube (CRT) displays. The subjects performed visual search tasks during 2-h for detecting target words among distracters presented on the screen. The subjects' visual performance was evaluated with average time and number of errors made to complete the tasks. Visual fatigue after the search tasks was also evaluated in terms of degradations in accommodative power and subjective ratings. Difference was not found in task time between the two displays, but flat CRT showed a lower number of errors than conventional CRT. The difference in number of errors was statistically significant at 0=0.05. Although there was no difference between the displays in degradations of accommodative power, results from the subjective ratings showed that flat CRT yields less fatigue than conventional CRT. The results partially support the hypothesis that panel convexity of CRT displays has a significant effect on the performance and fatigue during visual tasks and thus flat CRT is the better display than conventional one.

ON LIGHTLIKE HYPERSURFACES OF COSYMPLECTIC SPACE FORM

  • The main purpose of this paper is to study the lightlike hypersurface (M, $\overline{g}$) of cosymplectic space form $\overline{M}$(c). In this paper, we computed the Gauss and Codazzi formulae of (M, $\overline{g}$) of cosymplectic manifold ($\overline{M}$, g). We showed that we can't obtain screen semi-invariant lightlike hypersurface (SCI-LH) of $\overline{M}$(c) with parallel second fundamental form h, parallel screen distribution and c ≠ 0. We showed that if second fundamental form h and local second fundamental form B are parallel, then (M, $\overline{g}$) is totally geodesic. Finally we showed that if (M, $\overline{g}$) is umbilical, then cosymplectic manifold ($\overline{M}$, g) is flat.

  • A reactor protection system (RPS) plays the roles of generating the reactor trip signal and the engineered safety features (ESF) actuation signal when the monitored plant processes reach predefined limits. A Korean project group is developing a new digitalized RPS and the Cabinet Operator Module (COM) of the RPS which is used for the RPS integrity testing and monitoring by an equipment operator. A flat panel display (FPD) with a touch screen capability is provided as a main user interface for the RPS operation. To support the RPS COM user interface design, actually the FPD screen design, we developed a user interface style guide because the system designer could not properly deal with the many general human factors design guidelines. To develop the user interface style guide, various design guideline gatherings, a walk-though with a video recorder, guideline selection with respect to user interface design elements, determination of the properties of the design elements, discussion with the system designers, and a conversion of the properties into a screen design were carried out. This paper describes the process in detail and the findings in the course of the style guide development.

유한요소법에 의한 평면 TV 새도우마스크의 마이크로포닉 현상 해석 (Analysis of Microphonic Phenomenon for Shadow Mask in Flat TV by FEM)

  • A shadow mask inside the Braun tube of a TV is sustained by springs attached to the glass panel, its vibration cause the picture image to discolor, which is called the microphonic phenomenon. It is found that it results from resonance when the natural frequency of the shadow mask coincides with that of built-in speaker sound. This paper describes experimental and analytical investigations by using FEM on the vibration problem of the shadow mask assembly. The simulation scheme may be efficiently used to develop a new design for a large-screen flat TV.

  • Spatial independence and temporal stability of flat-panel LCD monitor, LG StudioWorks 500LC, were evaluated. The luminance and chromaticity of stimulus color were measured according to the variation of the size, background color, and location on the screen. The spatial independence at center location is very good and not a limiting factor in its colorimetric characterization, however the spatial non-uniformity is a little severe. The warmup time to stabilize after initial power is about 100 minutes and short-term variance of white stimulus is within 0.1 ${\Delta}E^*\;_{ab}$.

  • Due to recent technology advances, needs for flat panel displays, plasma display panels(PDPs) whose advantages are simple structure, high resolution, wide viewing angle is increasingly expected to be the first flat panel of large screen, walt hanging TVs. But the luminance and luminous efficiency of color PDP is net up to the level of a CRT. So, New electrode shape which is different from the conventional electrode has to propose to improve the luminance and luminous efficiency. In this paper, we suggested new shaped electrodes. In new shaped electrode, the discharge current was reduced compared with conventional type by reducing the unnecessary diffusion loss near the barrier rib. However, the luminance was nearly the same as conventional type. So, the luminous efficiency improved about 35%.

FTM 튜브의 판넬과 마스크의 일치방법 개발 (Development of Registration Method of Panel and Mask for FTM Tube)

  • This paper presents a useful method of registration in manufacturing of shadow color mask for cathode ray tubes of the FTM (Flat Tension Mask) type, wherein the shadow mask and front panel are interchangeable when mask-panels are assembled, which is called ICM system. Theoretical analysis and alignment process are presented. The pattern of mask aperture is registered with a screen pattern of corresponding geometry of the panel in flat tension mask tube. Registration accuracy of panel and mask affects the purity of color cathode ray tube concerned with mislanding. It tries to minimize the misregistration caused by variances, which are mechanical error, mask stretching position error, restrictive number of fiducial point, etc.

  • In this study, we used screen printing on the rear glass with silver electrodes, phosphor and a dielectric which is on the silver electrodes, and carried out firing in the temperature of $550^{\circ}C$, $570^{\circ}C$, $450^{\circ}C$ each. To seal the rear and top glass together, we used crystalline frit paste as a sealing material with dispenser and carried out firing up to $450^{\circ}C$. As using this panel, we focused on optimizing the condition which influences characteristics of discharging by the distance between electrodes, electrode structure, type and pressure of gases for FFL.

탄소섬유 면상발열체의 발열 상태 분석을 위한 영상처리 기술 (Image Processing Technology for Analyzing the Heating State of Carbon Fiber Surface Heating Element)

  • 본 논문에서는 탄소섬유를 이용한 면상발열체의 발열 상태를 영상처리 기술을 이용한 분석을 제안하였다. 면상발열체의 제작 방법은 탄소섬유를 작게 잘라 촙 상태로 만든 다음 분산제를 통하여 다시 결합시켜 준다. 그 다음 부직포 위에 분산제를 통해 결합된 탄소섬유 용액을 필터링 한다. 마지막 단계는 필터링된 탄소섬유를 건조 하면 부직포 형태의 면상 탄소 섬유를 얻을 수 있다. 면상발열체는 이렇게 제작된 면상 탄소 섬유에 전기를 인가하면 된다. 본 논문에서는 면상발열체를 4가지 방법으로 분석하였다. 분석 방법 중 면상 발열체의 발열특성 분석과 면상발열체의 발열속도 분석은 제작된 면상발열체가 정상군에 해당하는지를 확인한다. 절연 코팅 및 면상 발열체 모듈 분석은 실제 제품의 제작에 사용될 수 있는 면상발열체에 대해 영상처리 기술을 이용하여 2차원 이미지 분석이다. 면상발열체의 열화상 이미지 분석은 2차원 및 3차원으로 발열 상태를 분석할 뿐만 아니라, 발열의 상위온도 15~20%와 하위온도 15~20%를 이미지에 표시하는 프로그램 기법이다. 마지막 분석은 제작된 면상발열체의 상태를 화면에 직접 보여줌으로써 제작 과정 중 잘못된 부분을 쉽게 찾을 수 있다. 이와 같은 면상발열체의 이미지 분석 방법은 기존의 방법과 결합하여 발열상태를 더욱 정밀하게 분석할 수 있었다.

Phosphors development for LED and PDP Applications

  • The recent development of InGaN-based white light emitting diodes (LEDs) has expanded their potential applications in areas such as white electric home appliances, backlight for mobile phone or notebook PC, and indoor lightings. In this lecture, recent researches related to the phosphors for LEDs applications and their luminescent properties were reviewed. PDPs are considered as the most potential flat panel displays with a large-screen size. Phosphors in PDPs directly affect the brightness and lifetime. So, many researchers have tried to improve the luminescence characteristics of the phosphors especially under vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation. We overviewed recent research trends and conclusive achievements for the PDP phosphors.
