The fishing industry of Korea is now i a critical transitional stage. That is, broadly speaking, there are two dominant factors that constrain the further development of Korea fishey and effective competition in the international fishing industry. First of all, the global fishing industry has experienced many significant changes due to the execution of U.N, maritime law, the establishment of EEZ(the Exclusive Economic Zones), the increased roles of WTO(the World Trade Organization) as well as Korea being a member of OECD(the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development). Second, the fishing industry of Korea is faced with the following domestic troubles, such as the icreasing fishing expenses, insufficient labor supply, and the collapse of traditional local co-operative organizations of fishing villages, etc. However, the demand for aquatic products of home consumers not only continues to increase but also is shifting to select more valuable species, completely ignoring the above-mentioned serious pressures incurred by the Korean fishery. To solve these problems and keep developing steadily, it is necessary for the fishing industry of Korea to adopt a more active and flexible development pattern in order to reset up the regional economic base in fishing villages nation-wide and make the exploitation of fishing resources balance. The paper gives an reconsideration to the primary alternatives facing the Korean fishery and its prospective roles in a realistic and far-sighted attitude. It may serve as an endeavour in seeking an outlet for the fishing industry of korea to advance forwardly and lastingly.
Due to rapid decrease in population of farming and fishing villages and drain of young rural manpower to the cities, aging is being intensified, and the conditions of housing and welfare of elderly households are inadequate. Currently, group home is being discussed as part of specialized housing and welfare support policy for the people in the vulnerable class with poor self-supporting abilities such as the aged living alone in farming and fishing villages, and aged farming and fishing households. So the purpose of this research is to present the basic data for proposing the policy of supplying group home through examining the realities of housing and welfare of the people in the vulnerable class in farming and fishing villages. Survey was conducted on the 4 regions -Cheonan-si, Gongju-si, Yesan-gun, and Seosan-si - whose apartments were all occupied by the residents among the group homes for the elderly living alone in Chungcheongnam-do and the following results were derived from the analysis on the data collected from the survey. First, great effects can be attained at small costs by reorganizing and utilizing the public facilities that are unused or little used and the existing houses that are exposed to risks due to improper maintenance. Second, it can be pointed out that the residential environment of the vulnerable members of society was improved without impairing the existing village landscape. Third, housing welfare was enhanced without investing a large sum of money and the system to promptly cope with negligent accidents and emergency can be built and operated. Fourth, the cases promoted to solve the problems of the poor, unhygienic, and unsafe housing of the elderly and the vulnerable members of society were very positive and well worthy of being presented as planning direction of future group homes in farming and fishing villages. Finally, if they are operated entirely for free, it will cause the lack of the sense of ownership and the problems in securing the budget, so the ways of paying minimum individual housing expenses should be examined. The alternatives of housing welfare for the vulnerable members of farming and fishing villages are needed and the ways of constructive planning and researches should be continuously made. Also, the government's support policy should be actively promoted.
Purpose: Compared to cities, rural areas are in a medical blind spot and face difficulties in accessing medical services due to inconvenient transportation facilities, lack of medical facilities, and the heavy burden of medical expenses. This study was carried out to identify the problems relating to the musculoskeletal system of the elderly in rural and fishing villages, which are medically vulnerable areas, and sought to present a regionally differentiated healthcare model. Methods: The study was conducted in 80 elderly people in two rural villages and two fishing villages after seeking inputs regarding medically vulnerable groups in the Gyeongnam Province. Postural balance and muscle flexibility were assessed and postural evaluation was conducted to identify musculoskeletal problems and gait stability. Strength and range of motion for each body segment were assessed for evaluating functional motion. Results: The elderly in both rural areas showed forward head posture characteristics. The strength level of the elderly in both rural areas was higher than the average, but their flexibility and balance ability were lower than the average. Conclusion: The musculoskeletal problems of the elderly in rural and fishing villages in this study did not show regional characteristics according to the area of residence. However, overall flexibility and balance ability appeared to be reduced. Therefore, a new management model connecting the region and the university is necessary in preparation for the coming era of community care.

This study is aimed at finding policy directions for Korean fisheries and fishing villages by using Delphi method for fisheries experts. Fisheries experts have highly evaluated the achievements of fostering aquaculture industry, seafood export support measures, and natural disasters relief and recovery arrangements among the policies promoted as so far. And it was recognized that policies such as fishery resources management, creation and recovery of fishery resources, improvement hygiene and seafood safety, and provision young fishermen with training and capacity building will be important. Future megatrends, for example changes in food consumption pattern, climate change, and demographic structure changes are expected to have a significant impact on fisheries and fishing villages. In other words, fisheries policy in the future should be aimed at suppling sustainable seafood for popular consumption. Finding strategies and action plans that can achieve this goal will be an important policy issue. In conclusion, it is necessary that a number of fundamental researches carry out in Korea, which can lead to finding out a multifunctionality of fisheries and fishing village. In addition, it is important to expand the scope of fisheries policy, which can consider not only the fisheries producers but also seafood consumer's and young fishermen perspectives. Furthermore, it recommends that fishery policy needs to include fishery related industry as well as application of 4th industrial revolution technology to fishery.

In case when this K-FARM framework is applied to rural areas adjacent to cities, especially farming & fishing villages around innovative cities, there would be great effects such as expansion of exchanges between public institutions and local residents of innovative cities. Especially, the theme model classified into four types could be applied suitable for the characteristics of farming & fishing village development project district that is currently operated. While the life in the fishing villages in old days was characterized by accepting the sea as destiny by birth, it became an industrial one nowadays with industry - scale fisheries as the mainstream. It is expected, however, that nature - friendly life will be prevailing in the fishing villages in the future In these days, the status of fishing village is on a very terrible situation due to the decrease in population, low income, environment destruction, and so on. However, the fishing village should be revitalized because of its public benefits at least. Recently, a kind of affirmative appearance in fishing village is that people who are willing to visit fishing village are increasing. The fishermen are supposed to use this opportunity for its economic and social interests. This paper suggests a kind of way, enjoyable fishery after catching and farming fishery, to use it. Enjoyable fishery consists of watching (learning by observation) fishery and doing (experience) fishery. The example of watching fishery is inspecting the fixed net fishery, doing fishery is experience of small dragnet fishery. The activation devices of the enjoyable fishery are suggested as follows; 1) fixing the identification of regional tourism 2) the development of regional enjoyable 3) opening of one day's fisherman school. 4) networking with fishing village amenity improvement 5) driving sisterhood system with urban area.
This study is basically to investigate the possibility of revitalizing the fishing village economy by targeting on trip type, propensity, and awareness of visitors who visited Gogunsan in JeonBuk by applying Blue Amenity. As the result of survey, it showed that visitors in Gosunsan islands generally were satisfied with trip, and they had considerably higher intention of revisit. However, it showed that the improvement and publicity of various travel services including resources and facilities were demanded. In particular, it should pay attention to requirements depending on age and selection of main visitors with reference to revisit, and as the result, the factors having the most important influence on are traffic, and natural scenery, so it is considered that these factors must be maintained to increase the rate of revisit with full of concentration. Besides, it is confirmed that Visitors are unfamiliar with Blue Amenity applying fishing village's own historical cultural resources with reference to preferring islands trip, and they were much concerned about the establishment of tentatively named "regional(urban - fishing village) center" to revitalize the fishing village economy. Moreover it could grasp the tourist industry operated jointly by fishing villages, the pride of town to characterize, advantage in promoting the tourist industry as compared with other regions, and difficulties or recommendations in promoting the tourist industry. And comprehensive investigation of Blue Amenity resources in this region and the measures of improving life environment must be performed in future.
