Species diversity, some biological aspects of fishes and water quality of Terie River, Beshilo Basin, Ethiopia

  • The study was conducted in the Terie River between January and April 2022. The objectives of the study were to assess the fish species composition, determine the length-weight relationship and condition factor and assess the water quality of the river using international water quality guideline for aquatic life. Gillnets with different mesh sizes, 4, 6, 8 and 10 cm were used to collect fish specimens in both dry and wet seasons. Immediately after capture, the total length (TL) and total weight (TW) of each individual were measured in centimeters and grams, respectively, and their relationship was determined using the power function. The physicochemical water quality parameters were analyzed using standard procedures and wagtech portable water quality Kits and Secchi Disk apparatus. A total of 667 fish specimens were collected from the Terie River, 410 and 257 in dry and wet seasons respectively. A total of six fish species, Oreochromis niloticus, Labeobarbus intermedius, Labeobarbus nedgia, Labeobarbus beso, Clarias gariepinus, and Ramius loti were recorded. For length-weight relationship and condition factor analysis, more abundant fish species (O. niloticus and L. intermedius) which were found in both seasons were selected. The length and weight relationship of L. intermedius were TW = 0.0073TL3.04 in dry and TW = 0.0337TL2.59 in we season indicated isometric and negative allometric growth respectively. While O. niloticus showed negative allometric growth, TW = 0.096TL2.44 and TW = 0.0335 TL2.76 in dry and wet seasons, respectively. The mean Fulton condition factor (FCF) of L. intermidus were 0.85 ± 0.03 and 0.94 ± 0.25 in dry and wet seasons, respectively. The FCF of O. niloticus was 1.70 ± 0.13 and 1.73 ± 0.12 in dry and wet seasons respectively. Except for ammonia, the physicochemical water quality parameters were with the permissible limit for aquatic life and are suitable for fishes Terie River. The river has commercially important fish specimens that could be used for food security and livelihood improvement. However, there is very limited fishing activity in the river due to less awareness on the value of fishes. Therefore, sustainable fishery development should be done in the river.

  • 한국산 6쪽마늘의 장기 저장에서 수확후(收穫後) 예건방법과, 저장고내온습도(貯藏庫內溫濕度) 조건이 품질(品質)에 미치는 영향에 대하여 1980년(年) 7월(月)부터 1981년(年) 4월까지 조사시험 하였던바, 수확후 열풍예건한 마늘은 자연 예건된 것에 비하여 상온저장 조건에서 중량감소와 부패발생에서 각각 25.4%와 13.5% 정도 억제 효과가 있었으며, 저온저장 조건에서는 14.2%와 7.5% 정도 경감되었다. 그리고, 저온저장 $(0^{\circ}C)$ 하므로 상온저장한 것에 비하여 얼풍예건 처리한 마늘의 경우 중량감소와 부피발생이 각각 14.0%와 9.9% 정도 줄었으며, 자연예건한 마늘에서는 각각 20.0%와 22.4% 경감되는 효과를 보였다. 또한, 열풍예건처리와 저온저장조건은 저장중 마늘의 발아 및 호흡억제와 allin성분의 보존에도 좋은 효과가 있었다.

서해 곰소만에 출현하는 동물플랑크톤 군집의 시·공간적 변동 특성 (Characteristics of temporal-spatial variations of zooplankton community in Gomso Bay in the Yellow Sea, South Korea)

  • 국내 바지락 주요 산지인 곰소만에서 동물플랑크톤의 시간적 변동과 동물플랑크톤 개체수에 미치는 환경요인 을 파악하기 위하여, 2022년 10월, 2023년 1월, 3월, 5월, 총 4번에 걸쳐 10개의 정점에서 동물플랑크톤 채집을 수행하였다. 곰소만의 환경요인들 중 수온, Chl-a, DO, pH는 조사 시기 간에 다른 양상을 보였으며, 염분과 SPM은 조사 시기 간의 통계적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 곰소만의 동물플랑크톤은 각 조사 시기별로 33개, 29개, 27개, 29개의 분류군이 출현하였으며, 2022년 10월과 2023년 5월에는 절지동물이, 2023년 1월과 3월에는 원생동물이 주로 우점하였다. 절지 동물 중 가장 많은 비율을 차지하는 요각류(Copepods) 중 우점종은 Acartia hongi, Paracalanus parvus s. l., Corycaeus spp., Oithona spp.로, 국내 전 연안과 황해 연안에 주로 분포하는 종들이었다. 동물플랑크톤 개체수를 기반으로 수행한 집괴 분석 결과는 계절 내에서 정점 간 유사도가 낮아 군집이 구분되지 않는 안정된 상태(stable condition)였으며, 계절 간에서는 3개의 군집(가을, 겨울~초봄, 봄)으로 뚜렷하게 구분되어 이 해역은 계절성이 매우 강한 환경을 시사하고 있다.

The catchs of C.P.U.E by fishery was catched 2.2~3.3 times in reefs sector than the natural fishing ground. but the individuals was much catched in traps. The jumbo type reefs gill netter were much catched in square artificial reefs. The weight of fishery was much captured in jumbo type reefs.

  • The purpose of this study is not only to provide students in the fishery high schools with source materials and opportunity, but also to contribute to a comprehensive development in educational program of the fishery high schools. It investigated various factors of aquarium related 6 new occupations : job contents, educational-level for job performance, training period, worker's capacity, the degree of physical activity, working place, and working environment. First, the work intensity is a normal work. The physical activities such as crawling, bending, accurately seeing a nearby thing and using hands are frequently used. Population parameters and sustainable status of lompa fish Thryssa baelama (Forsskal, 1775) manage through sasi approach at Haruku Village

  • The harvesting season of lompa fish, Thryssa baelama, through sasi, indigenous knowledge in resources management, in Haruku Village has become a socio-cultural event that attracts many people. The sasi of lompa fish has been conducted for hundreds of years. Information on the bioecology aspect of lompa fish is limited, while this information is crucial for lompa fish sustainability through the sasi approach. This study aimed to investigate some population parameters of lompa fish, its sustainability status, and proposed a sustainable management strategy for the lompa fishery of Haruku Village. Fish population parameter covers length-weight relationship, growth pattern, size distribution, sex ratio, and the body condition index. The sustainability status was assessed following the Rapfish approach. Fisheries management strategy was performed using a conceptual model framework based on Driver Pressure State Impact Response. The research shows that the total length varies between 9.2-14.3 cm. A high relationship was found between total length and weight, and the growth pattern was an allometric negative. There was a difference in sex ratio between males and females, with females dominant. The body condition index varies over time, probably due to reproductive status. The overall sustainability status was at fair condition (61.60%), with the ecological domain having the highest sustainable status (71.07%) and considered sustain. In comparison, the technological domain had the lowest sustainability status (52.58%) and was considered fair sustain. There were seven management strategies proposed for sustainable management for the lompa fishery.

오미자의 물 추출조건에 따른 shizandrin, gomisin A, gomisin N의 함량 비교 (Comparison of the Content of Shizandrin, Gomisin A and Gomisin N in Schisandra Fruit by Water Extraction Condition)

  • 본 연구는 식약공용 오미자를 메탄올 추출해 schizandrin, gomisin A, gomisin N 함량을 확인한 후 schizandrin, gomisin A, gomisin N 함량이 높게 나온 시료 중 하나를 선정해 오미자를 차로 음용 시 물 추출방법에 따른 생리활성 물질의 함량을 확인하였다. 추출방법은 열수 추출과 상온 침출로 추출상태, 추출온도, 추출시간을 달리하여 schizandrin, gomisin A, gomisin N 함량을 비교하여 적절한 음용법을 제시하고자 하였다. 오미자를 원산지별 메탄올 추출물 시 schizandrin, gomisin A, gomisin N 총 합 평균 함량은 10.57 mg/g이었다. 국산 오미자 11.42 mg/g, 수입산 오미자 10.12 mg/g으로 국산 오미자의 메탄올 추출물의 schizandrin, gomisin A, gomisin N 총 합 함량이 더 높았다(p < 0.05). 메탄올 추출에서 높게 나온 오미자를 이용해 물 추출 방법에 따라 추출방법, 추출형태, 추출온도, 추출시간을 달리해 생리활성 schizandrin, gomisin A, gomisin N의 함량을 확인한 결과 오미자 물 추출방법에서 생리활성 물질의 함량에 가장 큰 영향을 준 조건은 추출형태였다. 원형보다 분말형태로 오미자를 물 추출 시 생리활성 물질의 함량이 높게 나왔다(p < 0.05). schizandrin, gomisin A, gomisin N의 총 합 함량이 높게 나온 추출방법은 오미자를 분말형태로 $26^{\circ}C$에서 24시간 침출하거나 $100^{\circ}C$에서 5분 이상 열수 추출했을 때 유의적 차이가 없이 높게 나왔으나(p > 0.05) 오미자를 고온 열수 추출 시 떫은맛과 신맛이 강해지므로 따라서 오미자의 물 추출의 경우 분말상태로 24시간 이상 침출하는 것이 오미자의 생리활성 물질인 schizandrin, gomisin A, gomisin N을 좀 더 효율적으로 추출하고 기호적인 면도 고려할 수 있는 음용법 이었다. 차를 마시는 기능성을 고려하여 향후 오미자 뿐 아니라 가정에서 차로 많이 사용하고 있는 다양한 약용식물의 생리활성 물질에 특성에 따른 물 추출물에 대한 효율적인 추출법등의 연구가 이루어져 할 것이다.

  • This research is to survey the possibility of developing Yoryang coral cave as the local tour site uitable for local self-government era of Kangwon province, with relation to the tour development of Odaesan and Tebagsesan. This cave is only coral one founded in Asia and has very high speleological, and academic values. The people in the mining village can live a safe and rich life by getting two more jobs through developing the tour site in Yoryang coral cave round. The tour train running between Kangnung and Wonju makes coral cave as the local tour site, the beneficial condition of developing Yoryang.

중매인에 관한 연구 (On The Licensed Dealer in Landing Markets)

  • Korea is a peninsular country surrounded by seas on three sides, and the fishing industry has carried out the service of suppling to the people with important anima protein. The distribution of fishery products has very complicated structures, because the production is in charge of small producers scattering along the coast all over the country, while consumpstion is made by separate homes in areas away from producing district. The relation between these two factors the structures make very complicated. The most typical and special structures of fishery distridution are distinguished in two, that is, one is landing market, the other is inland market. Landing markets have been monopolized by fishermen's cooperatives, providing with landing facilities and building sites. Fish markets played not only an important role in the landing, but distribution and price determination of catches by auction or tender. Inland markets are two types of wholesale market in consuming center, one is the terminal market for urban consumers, the other type is the local market for rural consumers. Fundamental functions of landing markets are gathering, assessment, and distribution functions. Gathering function is in charge of wholesaler in fishery cooperative. Gathering amounts are equal to gathering capacity of wholesaler and transact ability of licensed dealers as shown below model. Gathering amount=f.gathering capacity(=pre price.landing facility.account of wholesaler.distance of fishing ground.conveniency purchasing.home port)=fㆍ transact ability of licensed dealers≒f.population or port, and table 1 indicates these relationship. Assessment and distribution functions are in charge of licensed dealers in consumption side. Assessment function should bring the value in production activity through the auction between the cooperative seller and the licensed dealer as buyer. For fair trade transaction in auction, the free competition is supposed to be a prerequisite among the licensed dealers. The ideal condition for free competition is sameness in the scale of buying amount by licensed delaers, but it is almost impossible to attain its goal in actual marketing.

연근해 침적폐기물 수거사업에 대한 효과분석 연구 (A study on Effectiveness Analysis for the Coastal and Inshore Submerged Marine Litters)

  • According to the result of the recent survey on the current condition of loss of the fishing gears in the East, West and South seas, it is estimated that 50% of the fishing gears used for coastal trap and gill net fisheries are lost every year and 20~30% of those used for inshore trap and gill net fisheries are lost. It is reported that such loss of fishing gears leads to the loss of about 10% of 1.7M tons of the total annual catch from the gill nets and traps along the country's coasts and shores, which amounts to 15~170K tons. Submerged marine litters that have recently been accumulated because of the washed out or lost fishing gears significantly affect the development of fisheries resources as well as the natural environment. The purpose of this study is to identify the damages that the ever-increasing submerged marine litters of washed out fishing gears would have on the fishery and to analyze the effects of the coastal and inshore submerged marine litter collection business on the fishery management. For this, the economic analysis was carried out for the coastal and inshore submerged marine litter collection business based on the fishermen's expenses and earnings and their catch. The result of the analysis shows that the submerged marine litter collection business is quite effective in certain areas but rarely effective in other areas. However, taking into consideration that the litter collection would contribute to protecting the marine environment as well as the fisheries resources, it is expected to have a significant impact on the protection of the marine environment even in those areas where it is not effective for the protection of the fisheries resources.
