As Korea has approached the aging society, older Koreans have become an important force in restaurant sales today. To succeed with this silver market, it is important for restaurant managers to know who they are and which factor influence the older Koreans' eating-out decision making process. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the elderly consumers financial independency on restaurant selection process. Data were collected from 178 older consumers above 55 years old and analyzed using the descriptive statistic analysis, MANOVA, and one-way ANOVA. The results showed that the elderly consumers financial independency significantly influenced the decision making process in determining where they eat out Significant differences were found between high income group and low income group in the Problem Recognition Step(Wilks' Lambda=0.776, F=3.796), Information Search Step(Wilks' Lambda=0.779, F=2.959), Alternative Evaluation Step (I :Wilks' Lambda=0.835, F=1.748/ II :Wilks' Lambda=0.764, F=3.212), and Purchase Decision Step(Wilks' Lambda=0.849, F=2.412), except the Post-Purchase Behavior(Wilks' Lambda=0.933, F=1.179). The more financially independent older consumers were, the more directly they were involved in the eating out decision making process. Older consumers with higher income and more personal property were likely to 'propose to eat out by themselves'(F=10.986), to obtain restaurant information from the 'printed materials'(F=9.707), to consider 'convenient location' as most important factor when they eat out(F=5.594), and to go to 'family restaurant'(F=7.067), 'Japanese restaurant'(F=7.391) and 'fine dining restaurants'(F-=6.382). In conclusion, we found that the elderly consumers financial independency did influence the eating-out decision making process. Considering that older Korean will become a financially independent consumer and will be eating away from home more often, food service operations should actively position themselves for this market and develop the market-driven menus and services to meet their needs and expectations.
This study is to grasp its characteristics by typing a subjective perception of directors on a private childcare center(PCC)' financial management. This study is used the selected 25 statements and 27 directors performed the Q sort. As this result, the three types were derived. Financial Independence Type perceived that a finance accounting rules for PCC has to revised, and it is in need of guarantee of PCC' independency. Public Childcare Type is a type that a government support on PCC is aided as much as support of a National/Public childcare center. Project Support Type is the type that a rule enactment and support is correspond to a scale and characteristics of PCC. Based on the result of research, I presented a implications and suggestions on a childcare policy.
The purposes of this study are to investigate the characteristics of recognitions and attitudes of new generation family on the family life, and to help the family members of the new generation family to be able to adapt to the future family and society with the right senses and attitudes on the family life. Three-hundred married men and women who were less than 35 years old, and who continued marriage for less than five years were selected. The results of this study were as follow; 1) Types of family composition was mostly nuclear family, and got help from their parents in managing household work. 2) Most new generation family was more likely to share equal roles and rights in household affairs, decision making and ownership of real properties. 3) Most new generation family considered the personality and the sense of value as the most important conditions which their spouse must have. And they were affirmative to wives' employment. 4) Most new generation family wanted 2 children. And preferred showed that they did not care much about son preference. 5) Most new generation family showed strong sense of responsibility for taking care of their old parents. However, they showed independency of financial planning for later years. 6) In many ways of life, their recognitions and attitudes were progressive but their were conservative in practical life as the older generations did.
Objectives: Rural-urban differences in suicide have been observed in many settings. However, there has been little research addressing what factors can explain these differences. The purpose of this study was to analyze which compositional factors and contextual factors in local areas might be related to local suicide. Methods: The study design was cross-sectional. The data for 251 primary local governments on their age-standardized suicide mortality and their predefined indicators of compositional factors and contextual factors were obtained from Korean Statistical Information Service as of year 2010. Bivariate analysis including one-way ANOVA and chi-square test were used to identify the differences in local features by area type. Seven poisson regression models for each of total, males, and females were used to analyze which compositional and contextual factors were related to suicide. Results: There were differences in suicide between gu and goon in total, male, and female groups. For total, compositional factors including divorce and smoking rate, and contextual factors including financial independency, water and waterwaste coverage, and number of wastewater discharge factories were found to explain the urban-rural differences. Conclusions: This study provided some evidence that contextual factors at the local level as well as compositional factors are useful for predicting local suicide mortality.

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of career experiential learning and parental support on career maturity of high school students. The number of subjects for this study was 290 high school students. The results are as follows. First, the effects of attitude in career maturity were higher for students with communication, field trip and visiting, and field experience in career experiential learning. However, career planning did not have any correlation with field experience types of attitude in career maturity. The effect of competency in career maturity was positively correlated with student experience with theory, communication, and field trip and visiting in career experiential learning. Second, parental support showed a significant positive correlation with all factors of career maturity. Third, results identify career maturity impacts on career experiential learning. The types of communication as well as field trip and visiting significantly affected all components of career maturity. The type of theory was a factor affecting competency. In addition, the results reveal the impact of parental support on the career maturity. Emotional support had a significant influence on all factors for career maturity, except for career exploration. Informative support was found to have a significant influence on career planning, career independency and career exploration. Financial support had a significant influence on occupational attitude, career independency and career exploration.
The collection and storage of a large volumes of data are becoming easier; however, the number of variables is sometimes more than the number of samples(objects). We now face the problem of dependency among variables(such as multicollinearity) due to the increased number of variables. We cannot apply various statistical methods without satisfying independency assumption. In order to overcome such a drawback we consider a categorizing (or discretizing) observations. We have a data set of nancial indices from banks in Korea that contain 78 variables from 16 banks. Genetic sequence data is also a good example of a large data and there have been numerous statistical methods to handle it. We discover lots of useful bank information after we transform bank data into categorical data that resembles genetic sequence data and apply bioinformatic techniques.
The aim of this study was to identify the impact of community factors on the community-level Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) in Korea. This was a cross-sectional study conducted in 2012 using secondary data(n=209) of the Korean Statistical Information Service. The framework was based on community factors provided by the International Council of Science (ICSU) and community factors were categorized based on six aspects. Multiple regression was applied to community factors depending on the community EQ-5D index. Smoking rate, "Good" self-rated health rate, water and wastewater coverage rate, and financial independency rate were significantly and positively associated with the EQ-5D score. Net migration rate(more move out than move in), obesity rate, unmet needed health care rate, and community type(rural than urban) were significantly and negatively associated with the EQ-5D score. This study identifies association for the impact of community factors on the community-level HRQOL and can provide useful evidence for development of community health promotion policies.
Governance systems are basically an autonomous cooperation type among the government, civil society and market, also a new paradigm for efficient and democratic administration of policies. The governance mainly consists of the central operating body, institutions, operating principles and so on. The constituents are the nation(government), civil society(NGO) and market(firm). Institutional conditions are a legitimate base, financial stability and independency. And as a operating principle, governance systems have common goals and issues from a national and social point of view. This governance has been recently emerged due to financial risk of government, diffusion of new liberalism going with the globalization, localization-decentralization, and development of civil society and information-oriented society. We have to grope fur the framework of participatory agri- policy confronting globalization and localization as well as developing our agriculture and rural village. This agri-policy governance should be theoretically focused on policy network or self-organizing network or multi-lateral governance (MLG) based on NPM. Also, it is proper to have connection of nation-central type and civil society-central type. And it is necessary to have a MLG type with local governance corresponding to localization and decentralization. Governance should have the type whose participants have authority and responsibility as well. Basic directions of environmentally friendly agri-policy governance are as follows : first, its purposes are constructing the democratic and efficient framework of participatory environmentally friendly agri-policy based on consensus of all the related groups, embodying environmentally friendly agri-policy adjusted to local field, raising farmer's real interest, and improving their position. Second, its form should have a council or an agreement system, not an advisory or a consultation organ. Thus, public sector(eg. government) and voluntary sector(eg. farmers' organization) jointly execute agricultural policy and are responsible together. Environmentally friendly agri-policy governance is mainly made up of farmers' organization, cooperative and civil society(NGO). And secondary bodies are agribusinesses and academic groups. Government interacts with the main bodies on administrative execution. And environmentally friendly agri-policy governance has MLG type with a central unit, province and county units. Environmentally friendly agri-policy governance has several main functions such as agri-policy partnership, speaking for farmer's rights and interests, investigation and research on domestic and foreign agricultural streams, and etc. Especially, local unit will play roles in activation for regional agriculture, consulting on technique and management, education and training services, services entrusted by government, and so on.
This study aimed to analyze the characteristics and problems of the quasi-market for welfare technology in the long-term care service area in South Korea. The qualitative interviews to the developers of welfare technology were conducted. The main results are as follows. First, the long-term care insurance (LTC) in South Korea has helped to create the limited amount of the effective demands for welfare equipments with low technology. Second, the systemic features of the LTC, however, have constraint the quantitative expansion as well as qualitative growth of the quasi-market for welfare technology. The low level of financial support combined with strict regulations has obstructed qualitative competition in the market. Third, they tend to develop the standardized and minimum welfare equipments for the serious needy for long-term care instead of welfare technology promoting independency of the elderly. Based on the results, this study provided the predictions for the growth of welfare technology and suggested some policy implications.
The purpose of this study was to examine various factors influencing the needs of Seoul's newly implemented outreach community services for older adults, and to suggest the direction of the outreach community health services in Seoul. A multi-level regression was conducted using data collected by face-to-face interviews from 1,000 individuals aged 65 and 70 in 17 districts, where participated in the Seoul's outreach community services. The results demonstrated that socioeconomic status (higher income and living alone), health status (having multiple chronic conditions and depression, lower health literacy), limited experience of the outreach community services, and low government trust at the individual level were associated with higher unmet need for the community outreach services. In addition, shorter participation period of the outreach services and financial independency at the district level were associated with higher unmet need for the services. The findings from this study implies the need for improving the quality of services by focusing on vulnerable groups such as individuals with lower income and worse health status. In addition, the outreach community health services may need to target individuals aged 66 to increasing efficiency of the services through utilizing results of life-cycle health checkup by the National Health Insurance Corporation.
