종합정보통신망 U-접속 선로부호의 성능에 관한 시뮬레이션 (A Simulation on the Performance of Line Codes for ISDN U-Interface)

  • The line code for ISDN subscriber loops is a critical choice in designing U-interface transceiver, since it affects system performance in a crucial way. This paper provides the performance analysis of U-interface transceiver systems employing four different line codes AMI, MMS43, VMDB5, and 2B1Q. The codes are compared using computer simulation studies, and three performance parameters of the four codes such as power spectrum, eye width, and error probability are used for the comparison. The simulation model consists of the encoder, transmit filter (root-raised cosine filter), channel, receive filter, zero-forcing equalizer, sampler, and decoder. The near-end crosstalk and addive white gaussian noise are considered as teh principal impediments.

Linear Suppression of Intercarrier Interference in Time-Varying OFDM Systems: From the Viewpoint of Multiuser Detection

  • Intercarrier interference (ICI) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, which causes substantial performance degradation in time-varying fading channels, is analyzed. An equivalent spreading code formulation is derived based on the analogy of OFDM and code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Techniques as linear multiuser detection in CDMA systems are applied to suppress the ICI in OFDM systems. The performance of linear detection, measured using multiuser efficiency and asymptotic multiuser efficiency, is analyzed given the assumption of perfect channel state information (CSI), which serves as an upper bound for the performance of practical systems. For systems without CSI, time domain and frequency domain channel estimation based linear detectors are proposed. The performance gains and robustness of a linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) filter over a traditional filter (TF) and matched filter (MF) in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime are demonstrated with numerical simulation results.

Improved Active Power Filter Performance Based on an Indirect Current Control Technique

  • This paper presents a method for the performance improvement of a shunt active power filter (SAPF) using the indirect current control (ICC) scheme. Compared to the conventional direct current control (DCC) scheme, the ICC gives better performance with a lower number of sensors. A simplified and efficient control algorithm using a low cost Intel 80C196KC microcontroller is implemented using only two current sensors for the source current and one voltage sensor for the DC-link voltage of the SAPF circuit. The objective is to eliminate harmonics and to compensate the reactive power produced by non-linear loads such as an uncontrolled rectifier feeding an inductive load. The APF is realized using a three phase voltage source inverter (VSI) with a dc bus capacitor. Experimental results are presented to prove the better performance of the ICC method over the DCC one.

Visual Tracking using Weighted Discriminative Correlation Filter

  • In this paper, we propose the novel tracking method which uses the weighted discriminative correlation filter (DCF). We also propose the PSPR instead of conventional PSR as tracker performance evaluation method. The proposed tracking method uses multiple DCF to estimates the target position. In addition, our proposed method reflects more weights on the correlation response of the tracker which is expected to have more performance using PSPR. While existing multi-DCF-based tracker calculates the final correlation response by directly summing correlation responses from each tracker, the proposed method acquires the final correlation response by weighted combining of correlation responses from the selected trackers robust to given environment. Accordingly, the proposed method can provide high performance tracking in various and complex background compared to multi-DCF based tracker. Through a series of tracking experiments for various video data, the presented method showed better performance than a single feature-based tracker and also than a multi-DCF based tracker.

광디스크 드라이브 시스템의 트랙 추종 성능 향상 방법 (Tracking Performance Improvement of Optical Disk Drive System)

  • The tracking performance of optical disk drive(ODD) system can be improved using disturbance observer(DOB). But, DOB was not easily applied in the ODD system because the additional microprocessor was needed. In this paper, we propose an error-based modified disturbance observer(EM-DOB) for ODD system. Due to the simplified structure of EM-DOB, the system is easily implemented to the digital control algorithm or the analog circuit. In these algorithms, disturbances rejection performance of system can be tuned as Q filter parameters are selected. Based on analysis of sensitivity function, three guidelines of Q filter design are suggested. Experimental results of DOB and EM-DOB are evaluated under the forced disturbances.

항행시스템 성능향상을 위한 강인한 필터링 알고리즘 (Robust Filtering Algorithm for Improvement of Air Navigation System)

  • CNS/ATM(communication navigation surveillance / air traffic management)의 감시 분야에서는 ADS-B(automatic dependent surveillance - broadcast) 시스템, MLAT(multilateration) 시스템, WAM(wide area multilateration) 시스템이 구축되고 있다. ADS-B, MLAT, WAM 시스템의 항공기 추적 성능이 기존의 레이더에 비해 매우 우수하지만 여전히 오차를 포함하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 차세대 항행시스템의 오차를 줄이고 항공기 추적 성능을 높일 수 있는 필터링 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 필터링 알고리즘 중에서 가장 유용하다고 알려진 IMM(interacting multiple model) 필터를 개선한 Robust IMM 필터를 사용하였으며, ADS-B, MLAT, WAM 시스템 등의 차세대 항공기 추적 시스템에 적용하였다. Robust IMM 필터는 항공기 추적성능을 향상시킬 뿐만 아니라 항공기 위치 데이터가 손실되더라도 필터에서 계산한 추정값을 이용하여 지속적인 위치 추적을 가능하게 한다. 필터링 알고리즘을 차세대 항행시스템에 적용했을 때 평균 19.21%의 성능향상이 있었다.

난청인의 주파수 선택도와 비대칭적 청각 필터를 고려한 난청 시뮬레이터 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of a Hearing Impairment Simulator considering Frequency Selectivity and Asymmetrical Auditory Filter of the Hearing Impaired)

  • In this paper, we propose a hearing impairment simulator considering reduced frequency selectivity and asymmetrical auditory filter of the hearing impaired, and we verified the reduced frequency selectivity and asymmetrical auditory filter affected in speech perception through experiments. The reduced frequency selectivity has made embodied by spectral smearing using LPC(linear prediction coding). The shapes of auditory filter are asymmetrical different with each center frequency. Hearing impaired person which has hearing loss was differently changed with that of normal hearing people and it has different value for speech of quality through auditory filter. The experiments confirmed subjective test and objective test. The subjective experiments are composed of 4 kinds of tests: pure tone test, SRT(speech reception threshold) test, and WRS(word recognition score) test without spectral smearing, and WRS test with spectral smearing. The experiment of the hearing impairment simulator was performed from 9 subjects who have normal ears. The amount of spectral smearing was controlled by LPC order. The asymmetrical auditory filter of proposed hearing impairment simulator was simulated and then some tests to estimate the filter's performance objectively were performed. The objective experiment as simulated auditory filter's performance evaluation method used PESQ(perceptual evaluation of speech quality) and LLR(log likelihood ratio) for speech through auditory filter. The processed speech was evaluated objective speech quality and distortion using PESQ and LLR value. When hearing loss processed, PESQ and LLR value have big difference according to asymmetrical auditory filter in hearing impairment simulator.

High-Order Stable Notch Filter 기법을 적용한 전력선 통신 시스템 구현 (Implementation of Power Line Communication System Appling High-Order Stable Notch filter Scheme)

  • 최근 인터넷이 주정보원으로 작용하고 인터넷의 보급이 확산되는 정보화시대에 인터넷망이 닿지 않는 지역의 Last Mile Solution에 적합한 대안으로서 전력선 통신에 관한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 현재 200Mbps PLC 장비가 상용화 되는 등 전력선 통신기술의 발달로 통신 인프라가 구축되지 않은 나라에서는 접근만 뿐만 아니라 백본망까지 구축하려는 연구가 진행 중이다. 하지만, 전력선 통신은 전력을 전송하도록 설계되었기 때문에 높은 고주파 신호를 보내게 되면 부근의 무선통신 서비스에 영향을 주게 된다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 High-Order Stable Notch Filter를 제안하였다. High-Order Stable Notch Filter는 기존의 필터들이 2차로 구현되었다는 점에 착안하여 4차, 6차, 8차, 10차 등 고차로 구현하였다. 또한, 제안한 High-Order Stable Notch Filter를 적용하여 Notch Filter Emulator를 구현하였다.

  • 고해상도 비디오에 대한 압축 성능 향상을 위해 ITU-T VCEG에서는 H.264/AVC 표준을 근간으로 다양한 압축 성능 개선 기법들을 추가해 왔는데, 그중 ALF 기법은 양자화에 의해 발생한 오류를 제거할 수 있는 필터링 방법을 제공함으로써, 고해상도 영상에서 평균 9%의 매우 높은 성능 개선 능력을 보이는 핵심 기술이다. 하지만 기존의 ALF는 한 프레임 내에서 하나의 Wiener 필터만을 사용하므로, 다수의 서로 다른 통계적 특성을 가진 영역이 존재하는 경우에는 능률적인 오류 복원 성능을 제공하기 어려운 한계를 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 한 복호 프레임에 존재하는 다양한 영역 별 통계적 특성을 반영하여 보다 유연한 율-왜곡 관점에서의 ALF 선택이 가능할 수 있도록, 적응적 율-왜곡 최적 다중 루프 필터 기법을 제안한다. 제안 알고리즘을 통해 다양한 영상에 대하여 기존 알고리즘의 성능을 안정적으로 개선할 수 있었으며, 영상에 뚜렷한 특성 차이를 지닌 복수의 오브젝트가 존재할 경우에는 더욱 높은 비트율 감소 이득을 얻을 수 있었다.

차량용 에어필터 Sealing 및 상.하 Cap의 신기술 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on New Technology Development of Air Filter Sealing for Vehicles and Upper-under Cap)

  • An air filter is a device to remove dust from the air supplied to the automotive engine. A requirement for the optimum air filter is to improve the capability to remove particles from the air it takes in, that is the efficiency and amount of dust collection. By removing dust from the air, the air filter prevents the engine cylinder from wear, reduces ventilation resistance, and thus improves engine output and guarantees intake performance. In order to guarantee such air filter performance, it is very important to properly seal the air filter. For passenger cars made in Korea, the air filters are fabricated with steel caps as their frames are large and their engine capacity is big. Recently however, European countries and Japan started using urethane for manufacturing the air filter, so that all foreign-made cars now have urethane filters. The urethanes used for air filters are applied in two ways: One is to use soft urethane for both top and bottom of the air filter and the other is to use soft urethane for the top and hard urethane for the bottom. Each of these method has unique problems. In this study, hard urethane is used for both top and bottom of the filter in order to improve those problems and increase the sealing efficiency. Especially for the top, NBR (rubber mold) is pre-settled in tough urethane and then the urethane is solidified through foaming, which makes it possible to develop a solid and double-sealed filter.
