Several strains capable of degrading PEGs(Polyethylene Glycols) were isolated and investigated for their biodegradation ability of PEGs. Microorganisms screened for the biodegrada- tion studies were those grown on the PEG used as a sole carbon and energy source. It was known that the number of microorganisms decreased when grown on the high molecular weight of PEG. A biodegradation of PEG was investigated with such microorganisms in the reactor and resulted in the decrease in PEG concentration meaning that PEG was degraded in the reactor. This microorganism was identified as Flavobacterium sp. The biodegradability was found to be about 18.8% for PEG-8000 and 25.4% for PEG-10,000, respectively. For the manufacture of biodeg- radable PEG film, EMAA/PEG and EAA/PEG blending ability was investigated with IR spectrum and showed that it was possible to produce blending film.

A carbon nanotube (CNT) of diameter ~20 nm has been synthesized by spray pyrolysis of turpentine oil using Ni/Fe catalyst. Pellet of CNTs has been used as a target to produce semiconducting carbon thin film of band gap 1.4 eV. Presence of oxygen pressure in the pulse laser deposition (PLD) chamber helped to control the $sp^3/sp^2$ ratio to achieve the desired band gap. Results are discussed with the help of Raman spectra, SEM TEM micrographs and optical measurements suggest that semiconducting carbon thin film deposited by PLD technique has retained its nanotubes structure except that its diameter has increased from 20 nm to 150 nm.

David Harris argues that mass media suppress counter-hegemonic factors in order to reach audience. According to Harris's theory, the success of the film "Tess" depends on its effective adaptation from Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles (1891). Tess (1979), directed by Roman Polansky, casting Nastassia Kinski for Tess, was acclaimed as a professional and commercial success, awarded with various prizes. Hardy's aim at criticizing Victorian English social and moral standard through Tess appears obscure in Polansky's film which focuses on the aesthetics of human body and capital. Polanski's Tess with urban white beauty does not emerge victimized by poverty, which the late twentieth century audience under the capitalist umbrella may abhor. To examine his use of music, sound effect, visual images by means of camera operation—angles, distances, close-ups and frequent movements—light and color, and mythic elements in the film, show Polansky's sharp perception of his contemporary audience's desire and conscientious work upon it.

This paper is about some aspects of the late-modern representation of antiquity in Western countries. The timeframe is mostly the decades since the 1980s, but some works are also mentioned from previous phases. Some information is given on the late-modern historical novel, characterized by mixture of genres and intertextual references to historical events and contemporary varieties of discourse. Eclecticism would seem to be a characteristic feature, and it mainly consists of a mixture of real events and imagination, cohabitation of ancient settings and modernized characters, and interaction between high and low culture. Commercialization often accompanies novels on antiquity in the $21^{st}$ century. And ideologies such as romanness, germanism and barbarianism are employed by some authors to refer to contemporary realities. A number of films and novels are mentioned. More specific analysis focuses on Valerio Manfredi's The Last Legion and the film based on the book; Simon Scarrow's Gladiator: The Fight for Freedom; and Robert Harris's Pompeii.

Effects of the film deposition process parameters on the properties such as deposition rate, etch rate, refractive index, stress and step coverage of plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposited (PECVD) tetraethylorthosilicate glass (TEOS) SiO2 film were investigated and analysed using SEM, FTIR and SIMS techniques. Increasing TEOS flow or decreasing O2 flow increased the deposition rate and the compressive stress of the oxide film but produced a less denser film. The deposition rate decreased owing to the decrease in the sticking coefficient of the TEOS and the O2 molecules onto the substrate Si with increasing the substrate temperature. Increasing the substrate temperature produced a denser film with a lower etch rate and the higher refractive index by lowering SiOH and moisture contents. Increasing the rf power increases the ion bombardment energy. This increase in energy, in turn, increases the deposition rate and tends to make the film denser. No appreciable changes were found in the deposition rate but the refractive index and the stress of the film decreased with increasing the deposition pressure. The carbon content in the plasma TEOS CVD oxide film prepared under our standard deposition conditions were very low according to the SIMS analysis results.

The orientation of bezene ring in latex film was investigated with raman spectroscopy. The benzene ring of anionic latex ran parallel with the film surface of latex, whereas that of amphoteric latex did not. Consequently, it showed the possibility of interactions or interrelations between the orientation of benzene ring and ink, contact angle, printability and so on.

지금까지 액막두께나 air core 직경 변화 등과 같은 수력학적 과정에 대한 이론 실험적 연구가 많이 이루어져왔다. 스월 노즐에서 수치적 해석 등을 통해 이에 대한 몇 가지 이론식들이 확립되었지만, 아직까지 내부유동에 대한 실험적 연구 결과 등은 명백히 정립되어 있지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 스월 챔버 내의 air core를 가시화하고 액막두께를 측정하여 내부유동의 변화 및 안정성 등을 살펴보았다.
