만화의 영화화 흐름에 관한 연구 (A Study on Comics Content into the Film Trend)

  • 만화가 가지는 원작산업으로서의 특징과 영화산업의 발전에 따라 만화원작의 영화화가 최근 늘고 있다. 이와 같은 현상은 역사적으로 소설과 연극에서 차용되었던 영화원작 소스가 만화적 감성시대로 접어들면서 만화로 상당부분 이동했음을 보여주는 것이다. 또한 2차원의 만화를 영상작업으로 전환한다는 의미 이외에도 장르 간, 매체 간 호환성에 주목할 필요가 있다. 앞으로 만화가 가지는 풍부한 소재와 매력적인 캐릭터, 그리고 배경과 인물 이미지들은 영화자체의 외연확장 추세와 더불어 앞으로도 두 매체 간 상호작용을 가속화 시킬 것이다.

영화 <아바타>에 나타난 육체성 연구 (A study on the corporality in the film Avatar)

  • This paper aims to look into various symbolic meanings of the body shown in the film, Avatar (2009, James Cameron), and to ponder over a variety of media strategies carried by the pursuit of the corporality shown in this film. In a nutshell, the body in Avatar is a symbol of primitiveness rather than civilization, and the body language is a fundamental and effective means of communication much better than verbal language. A variety of physical contacts that appeared in many scenes of the movie emphasizes the role of the body as a means of real communication. Also, in the composition of the film dominated by the confrontation of civilization, numerous creatures in the planet Pandora with a variety of colors as well as a number of agencies and large body sizes express primitive richness. The narrative of the film telling the story of a 'moving' body ultimately emphasizes the superiority of the body with respect to consciousness, unlike the narrative of conventional movies dealing with the problems of the body. In addition, the corporality pursued by this film implies several important media strategies. It may reveal a self-reflection of the material civilization and the imperialism, or, on the contrary, an attempt to conceal or dilute them. It may also represent a self-reflection of the overdeveloped media technology, or simply the dilution of it. Finally, it may be an attempt to recover the feeling of "presence", not fully supported by the 3D technology, by the identification of the spectator's body and the character's body.

Borate 완충용액에서 아연의 부동화 피막의 생성 과정과 전기적 특성 (Growth Kinetics and Electronic Properties of Passive Film of Zinc in Borate Buffer Solution)

  • Borate 완충용액에서 Zn의 부동화 피막이 생성되는 과정과 부동화 피막의 전기적 특성을 조사하였다. 이 때 생성되는 산화피막은 Mott-Schottky 식이 적용되는 n-형 반도체 성질을 보였으며, ZnO와 $Zn(OH)_2$로 구성되어 두 종류의 주개(깊은 주개와 얕은 주개)가 존재함을 알 수 있었다.

Magnetic Properties of SrRuO3 Thin Films Having Different Crystal Symmetries

  • This study examined the effect of various types of epitaxial strain on the magnetic properties of $SrRuO_3$ thin films. Epitaxial $SrTiO_3$ (001), $SrTiO_3$ (110), and $SrTiO_3$ (111) substrates were used to apply different crystal symmetries to the grown films. The films were grown using pulsed laser deposition. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the films grown under optimum conditions showed very clear peaks for the $SrRuO_3$ film and $SrTiO_3$ substrates. The saturated magnetic moment at 5 K after 7 Tesla field cooling was $1.2-1.4\;{\mu}_B$/Ru. The magnetic easy axis for all three types of films was along the surface normal. The magnetic transition temperature for the $SrRuO_3$ film with lower symmetry was slightly larger than the $SrRuO_3$ film with higher symmetry.

  • Borate 완충용액에서 Fe의 산화 반응 경로와 생성된 산화피막의 전기적 특성을 조사하였다. Fe는 pH에 의존하는 두 가지의 반응 경로에 의하여 산화되었으며 산화된 피막은 Mott-Schottky 식이 적용되는 n-형 반도체 성질을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Electrochemical corrosion behavior of atmospheric-plasma-sprayed copper as a coating material for deep geological disposal canisters

  • Cu, which exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in underground environments, has been investigated as a canister material for use in the deep geological disposal of spent nuclear fuels. In this study, the technical viability of atmospheric plasma spraying for producing Cu-coated canisters was investigated. A high-purity Cu film (millimeter scale) was deposited onto a stainless-steel substrate using a plasma gun with a shroud structure. Potentiodynamic polarization studies revealed that the Cu film exhibited a sufficiently low corrosion rate in the groundwater electrolyte. In addition, no pitting corrosion was observed on the Cu film surface after accelerated corrosion studies. A prototype cylindrical Cu film was fabricated on a 1/20 scale on a stainless-steel tube to demonstrate the scalability of atmospheric plasma spraying in producing Cu-coated canisters.

영화 속 의상기호에 관한 연구 -개리 마샬의 "귀여운 여인"(1990)을 중심으로- (A Study on Semiotics of Costumes in Film -"Pretty Woman" Garry Marshall (1990)-)

  • The costumes as an expression system in film are inserted intentionally for a particular purpose. Costumes in film, namely the cinematic dress code, and that in reality are dissimilar in meaning structure. The costumes in film perform a role of a complicated eye-catcher in correlation with the other filmic factors. But the previous studies on the costumes in film are focused on the keywords 'fashion style', 'fashion trend', or 'PPL (product placement)'. In film studies, however, the costumes should be observed from the point of view as semiosis, not as fashion, in other words, from the angle of symbol, icon and index. And the meaning and the process of the communication, which that produce, should be pointed out. It could expose, that costumes play one of the key roles for the developing of narratives and the creating of characters in film. Therefore, this study's aim is to examine the semiosis of costumes in film and to analyse the dress code, dress plot, and dress message in (1990) by Garry Marshall. But this work does not try to indicate the problems of the film-semiotics or to intensify the concept of the semiotic terminology. Thus, this study attempts to approach the theme of costumes in film from the perspective of the semiosis and its meaning process. With this, it has been proved, that semiotic systems are in hiding beyond the conventional forms of cinematic costumes and its natural harmony with characters.

Development and Application of a New Spray Impingement Model Considering Film Formation in a Diesel Engine

  • The present article presents an extension to the computational model for spray/wall interaction and liquid film processes that has been dealt with in the earlier studies (Lee and Ryou, 2000a). The extensions incorporate film spread due to impingement forces and dynamic motion induced by film inertia to predict the dynamic characteristics of wall films effectively. The film model includes the impingement pressure of droplets, tangential momentum transfer due to the impinging droplets on the film surface and the gas shear force at the film surface. Validation of the spray/wall interaction model and the film model was carried out for non-evaporative diesel sprays against several sources of experimental data. The computational model for spray/wall interactions was in good agreement with experimental data for both spray radius and height. The film model in the present work was better than the previous static film model, indicating that the dynamic effects of film motion should be considered for wall films. On the overall the present film model was acceptable for predication of the film radius and thickness.

  • 초기 충전 과정에서 흑연 음극에 생성되는 표면피막은 리튬 이차전지의 중요한 구성 요소로 전지 반응은 표면피막의 본질에 크게 영향을 받는다. 따라서 표면피막의 물리화학적 성질을 이해하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 한편, 표면피막의 형성 반응은 흑연/전해질 계면에서 진행하는 매우 복잡한 계면 현상이며, 표면피막은 반응성이 높고 공기 중에서 불안정하기 때문에 리튬 이차전지의 전극 표면을 연구하는데 있어서 in-situ 실험 기술은 매우 중요하다. 이와 같은 점에서 전위가 제어된 상태에서 다양한 전기화학 반응이 진행하는 전극/용액 계면을 직접 관찰할 수 있는 전기화학적 원자간력 현미경(Electrochemical Atomic Force Microscopy, ECAFM)은 매우 유용한 도구이다. 본 총설에서는 흑연 음극에 생성되는 표면피막의 본질적 이해에 중점을 두어 표면피막의 생성기구 및 전해질과의 상관성에 관하여 in-situ ECAFM 분석 결과를 중심으로 하여 정리하였다.
