Author has made an experiment on absolute speeds of 18 screenfilm combinations that have been on sale in Korea, with various beam qualities. At this time, the beam qualities were 60kVp with the ANSI extremity phantom, 80kVp with the ANSI chest phantom and 85kVp with 20 mm aluminium filter under scatter free condition. The obtained results were as follows; 1. When three independent measurements were performed, the percent standard deviations of mAs quantities of 1.0 + fog were decreased by the hardening of the beam quality, and the decreasing tendency was somewhat great in the blue systems. 2. Generally, the increasing tendency of absolute speeds was distinct by the hardening of the beam quality in the green systems. Conclusively, the green systems were more strongly dependent upon the beam quality rather than the blue systems. Therefore, the relative speed of green systems to blue systems were great under the same condition. 3. Differences in the green systems were kept almost constant even though the beam qualities were changed. 4. They were shown the mutual relationship of absolute speed and relative speed rather than independent.
Conclusion: The results of this study are encouraging for the development of a set of interpretable diagnostic criteria for a reasonably reliable identification of some species. The present study has been limited in the characteristics studied and was made on relatively poor photography. Further study on high quality photography, over wider areas and including such additional characteristics as crown texture and shadow intensity should prove useful. A preliminary examination has been made of some photo-image characteristics of a number of important tree species on large scale (1:9,000) contact prints of panchromatic mm. The characteristics studied were crown image tone, and shape. Image tone was estimated against a standard grey-scale and shows within-species consistency and a range between species. Crown shapes were subjectively assessed but there appears to be a within-species consistency and interpretable between-species differences. The results of this trial suggest that it should be practicable to make a number of important species distinctions by photo-interpretation with a useful degree of reliability. Other characteristics beside those studied might be usefully examined. Photography: Hand-printed glossy contact prints of vertical 1:9,000 scale panchromatic photography of Kwangnung Experimental Forest flown May 1964. The filter used is unknown (probably minus-blue). The camera is unknown but was probably a military type K-17 or K-22 with 6"(apostfophy) lens. The photography shows notably poor resolution. Species: 143 individual trees ranging through 11 species (7 softwood, 4 hardwood) were included in the study. A range of size classes were included for each species.
An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the viscosity characteristics of multi-grade engine oils in which contain diesel fuels. Unused engine oils of SAE 5W40, 10W40 and 15W40 were blended with a diesel fuel ratio of 5%, 10%, and 15%. The viscosity of a diluted engine oil was measured with temperature variation ranging from $-20^{\circ}C$ to $120^{\circ}C$ using a rotary viscometer. The diluted engine oil in which is blended to a diesel fuel plays an important role for decreasing an engine oil viscosity, which may decrease the oil film thickness and a load-carrying capacity. Test results show that the viscosity tends to fall for the increased temperature when engine oil is mixed with a diesel fuel. Especially, the viscosity at a low temperature zone is radically decreased compared with a high temperature zone. Based on the experimental results, the empirical equation that can predict the viscosity of diluted engine oil is expressed in the exponential function with the variation of the temperature and a fuel ratio of diluted engine oil. This equation may be possible to predict the limitation of the oil-fuel dilution rate at the concept design stage of the CDPF system, which doesn't affect the influence of the tribological components.

Carbon-fiber-supported NiO catalytic filters for oxidation of volatile organic compounds were prepared by electroless Ni-P plating and subsequent annealing processes. Surface structure and crystallinity of NiO film on carbon fiber could be modified by post-annealing at different temperatures (500 and $650^{\circ}C$. Catalytic thermal decompositions of toluene over these catalytic filters were investigated. $500^{\circ}C$ annealed sample showed a higher catalytic reactivity toward toluene decomposition than $650^{\circ}C$ annealed one under same conditions, despite of its lower surface area and toluene adsorption capacity. X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies suggested that amorphous structures of NiO on $500^{\circ}C$ annealed catalyst caused the higher reactivity for oxidation of toluene than that of $650^{\circ}C$ annealed sample with a higher crystallinity.
An electronic nose system is an instrument designed far mimicking human olfactory system. It consists generally of gas (odor) sensor array corresponding to olfactory receptors of human nose and artificial neural network pattern recognition technique based on human biological odor sensing mechanism. Considerable attempts to develop the electronic nose system have been made far applications in the fields of floods, drinks, cosmetics, environment monitoring, etc. A portable electronic nose system has been fabricated by using oxide semiconductor gas sensor array and pattern recognition technique such as principal component analysis (PCA) and back propagation artificial neural network The sensor array consists of six thick film gas sensors whose sensing layers are Pd-doped WO$_3$ Pt-doped SnO$_2$ TiO$_2$-Sb$_2$O$_3$-Pd-doped SnO$_2$ TiO$_2$-Sb$_2$O$_{5}$-Pd-doped SnO$_2$+Pd filter layer, A1$_2$O$_3$-doped ZnO and PdCl$_2$-doped SnO$_2$. As an application the system has been used to identify CO/HC car exhausting gases and the identification has been successfully demonstrated.d.
A simple process of fabricating micropillar structure and its influence upon enhancing electrochemical biosensor response were studied in this work. Conducting polymer PEDOT was used as a base material in formulating a composite with PVA. Micro porous PC membrane filter was used as a template for the micropillar of the composite on ITO electrode. This structure could provide plenty of encapsulating space for enzyme species. After dosing enzyme solution into this space, Nafion film tent was cast over the pillar structure to complete the micropillar cavity structure. In this way, the encapsulation of enzyme could be accomplished without any chemical modification. The amount of enzyme species was easily controllable by varying the concentration of the dosing solution. The more amount of enzyme is stored in the sensor, the higher the electrochemical response is produced. One more reason for the sensitivity improvement comes from the large surface area of the micropillar structure. Application of 0.7 V produced the best current response under the condition of pH 7.4. This biosensor showed linear response to the glucose in 0.1~1 mM range with the average sensitivity of $14.06{\mu}A/mMcm^2$. Detection limit was 0.01 mM based on S/N = 3.
This paper describes the computer-aided design, fabrication and performance of high Q and high gain active filters suitable for microminiaturization in the frequency range of 10-800MHz, based on the negative resistance operation of a transistor. 48 as high as 1000 and a transducer gain as high as 35dB can readily be obtained with a single-transistor amplifier and with an inductance as small as a few nH at higher frequencies and 150 nH at lower frequencies in tile above frequency range. The gain of the proposed active filter can be stoabilized within $\pm$ 1.5 dB over the temperature range -1$0^{\circ}C$ to +5$0^{\circ}C$ and the temperature dependence of the center frequency is tapicalla 50ppm/$^{\circ}C$. An experimental FM receiver utilizing these fitters and operating at a carrier frequency of 92 MH3 was built. The whole circuit was fabricated on eight alumina substrates of by the thick-film hybrid IC technique and the coils are constructed, for miniaturization, in a spiral form of 3 or 4 turns of enamel copper wire with an overall diameter of about 5mm. The test results are also reported in this paper.
An experimental study was conducted to evaluate characteristic variation of diluted engine oils in which contains diesel fuels and its tribological effects on engine components. In this study, diluted engine oils with $10\%,\;15\%,\;and\;20\%$ of initial fuel content rate have been used for measuring the viscosity reduction rate, blow-by gas increment rate, main gallery pressure reduction rate, and fuel content rate in engine oils. These parameters are strongly related to the tribological characteristics of key engine components. The kinematic viscosity of engine oils in which is contained by diesel fuels from $10\%\;to\;20\%$ in oils is decreasing to approximately $54\%$ of initial diluted fuel-oil volume ratios. The experimental results show that the distillated engine oil decrease the viscosity of engine oil and its oil film stiffness, and increase the wear rate of rubbing parts of engine components. Thus we recommend that the containing volume rate of fuels in engine oils should be restricted to $3\~4\%$ for a sophisticated Diesel engine and $5\~7\%$ for a standard one.
Stamper surface temperature is very critical in replicating the high density optical disc substrates using injection molding as the pit or land/groove patterns on the optical disc substrate have decreased due to the rapid increase of areal density. During the filling stage, the polymer melt in the vicinity of the stamper surfaces rapidly solidifies and the solidified layer generated during polymer filling greatly deteriorates transcribability and fluidity of polymer melt. To improve transcribability and fluidity of polymer melt, stamper surface temperature should be controlled such that the growth of the solidified layer is delayed during the filling stage. In this study, the effect of heating on replication process was simulated numerically. Then, an injection mold equipped with instant active heating system was designed and constructed to raise the stamper surface temperature over the glass transition temperature during filling stage of the injection molding. Also, the closed loop controller using the Kalman filter and the linear quadratic Gaussian regulator was designed. As a result, the stamper surface temperature was controlled according to the desired reference stamper surface temperature.
