  • Satirical cartoon features figure characters that liken to particular figures or social phenomenon to satirize particular figures or social phenomenon. Through the words and actions of figure characters in satirical carton, fraudulentact of man in power or irrational social phenomenon is revealed. The National Intelligence Service (NIS) female agent that is the figure character of this study has been appearing in satirical cartoon for a long time and it likens to social phenomenon instead of a actual figure. The reason why the NIS female agent has been appearing as a figure character in satirical cartoon for a long time is because related social phenomenon has not ended and is still in progress. In addition, the reason why it likens to social phenomenon instead of an actual figure is based on the fact that it is not easy to identify her face that has been hidden, which makes it difficult to exaggerate the characteristic of the figure. Her hidden face is also an expression of the desire to hide that is symbolized by baseball cap and muffler. Her hidden face and the desire to hide make it easy to substitute to other related figure or social phenomenon instead of actual figure. Namely, outward appearance of the NIS female agent has a good condition for combining 'added significance' in satirical cartoon. Irrelevant to actual NIS female agent, a satirical cartoon figure of NIS female agent is being combined with various meanings when needed and it is substituted as another figure, group or social phenomenon as the actual figure disappears. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to reveal the role of figure character in satirical cartoon by symbolically analyzing the figure character that appears in satirical cartoon as 'NIS female agent'. The followings were revealed through the symbolic analysis of figure character in satirical cartoon in this study. First, satirical cartoon satirizes social phenomenon. Figure character in satirical cartoon satirizes social phenomenon in place of actual figure. Second, satirical cartoon satirizes core or embarrassing area of irrational social phenomenon created by politics. Figure character in satirical cartoon satirizes core or embarrassing area of social phenomenon by revealing it in place of actual figure. Third, satirical cartoon sends a message of warning to a responsible person of irrational social phenomenon created by politics. Figure character in satirical cartoon sends a message of warning to responsible person of irrational social phenomenon created by politics in place of actual figure. Fourth, satirical cartoon provides catharsis for enduring wound or stress received by individual due to irrational social phenomenon created by politics. Figure character in satirical cartoon provides catharsis for enduring wound or stress received by individual due to irrational social phenomenon through satirizing and ridiculing actual figure.

  • We present a method for creating realistic 2D stick figure animations easily and rapidly using captured motion data. Stick figure animations are typically created by drawing a single pose for each frame manually for the entire time interval. In contrast, our method allows the user to summarize an action (e.g. kick, jump) for an extended period of time into a single image in which one or more action lines are drawn over a stick figure to represent the moving directions of body parts. In order to synthesize a series of time-varying poses automatically from the given image, our system first builds a deformable character model that can make arbitrary deformations of the user's stick figure drawing in 2D plane. Then, the system searches for an optimal motion segment that best fits the given pose and action lines from pre-recorded motion database. Deforming the character model to imitate the retrieved motion segment produces the final stick figure animation. We demonstrate the usefulness of our method in creating interesting stick figure animations with little effort through experiments using a variety of stick figure styles and captured motion data.

  • Specially, the character in the kids animation is the fundamental visual element, and also has the high value which is to connect to various related businesses. The main purpose of this study is the analysis for character's appearance by the basic plane figure, and it has studied on the authority of recognition capability which is to catch the simple shape rapidly and clearly rather than complex shape. For this study, I established the standard of analysis and then applied that to the characters which were selected in broadcasting domestic kids animation on EBS. Through this procedure, I analyzed character's appearance with the distribution chart. As the result, the circular and oval shapes are the most frequently used shapes for character's appearance. Finally, I expect the result of this study could be one of the design index for the character creation in practical environment.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the state of the character fashion which is worn everyday by people regardless of their sex, class, and age after the 1960's, and to look at its significance. Under the influence of mass media, TV, film, comic and popular music exercised its power over the modern living after the 1960's. Such culture has its character in youth, aspiration of wide spread and overflow of the visual image. While active life style and increase of time spent on sports and leisure created the casual trend in fashion. In addition to Pop Art leads to the usage of sign and symbol on clothes, and this created a trend called 'character fashion'. Character fashion can be divided into 'motive' and 'expression'. Motive then is segmented by the 'person' that includes an impersonated figure and 'symbol' of picture or figure with a special meaning. However, expression can be classified by 'one's belonging' which can be a sports team, school or a group. Also, by the 'message' of the phrase or letter. The meaning contained in character fashion by the various motive and expression can be classified as unisex, ego screaming, and escapism.

  • I started this study to solve the doubt about actual condition of Oksosun stories. which was recorded in Cheonyerok(天倪錄) is the first form of Oksosun stories. But this story seems a very outstanding work. had a structure of romance. The hero's character was a romantic figure but Oksosun's character was a figure of Yadam. Afterward recorded in Gyeseoyadam(溪西野譚) and recorded in Cheongguyadam(靑邱野談) took place changes in the structure of the story. A lot of narrative paragraphs were removed in these stories. So and achieved the typical structure of Yadam. In recorded in Dongyahwijip(東野彙輯), the change of style was caused once more. So we can see the transmitting and changing flow of Yadam by this study; Romantic Yadam ${\rightarrow}$Typical Yadam , ${\rightarrow}$Noverized Yadam .

  • In this paper, a method to segment each character and extract figure from Korean documents is proposed. At first, each character string is extracted by means of iterative horizontal propagation, shrink algorithm and run-length algorithm. Individual character region is extracted by iterative horizontal and vertical manipulation. Next, characters of right pitch are searched. Each character is segmented by the position information. Overlapped character is segmented on the ground of the width of already extracted character. The rest are extracted as special characters of half pitch. Using 9 data input in the form of 840 X 600 from Korean monthly magazine, experiment was simulated. Extraction rate of character is 100%, and that of individual character is 98%. Judging from these results, efficiency on extracting character region and segmenting individual character is proved.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the specific mimesis types of common character costumes in MMORPGs, which have stories that are very similar in structure to ancient myths and fantasy novels. As the subject of the research I have selected "Diablo 3" created by the American video game developer, Blizzard Entertainment Images of 5 characters, for both genders - Barbarian, Witch Doctor, Monk, Demon hunter, Wizard - were compiled for a total of 10 images, and these images were compared to popular archetypes in mythology, religion and literature. analyzed them separately according to the mimesis type. For this study, Articles and books containing the Aesthetics, Mimesis and Digital culture were researched in order to study the costume features and the Mimesis types and compare them to the costumes in the MMORPG. Firstly, the character Barbarian is a successor of the barbarian character of the previous product. The outfit worn by the game figure is based on the common images expressed in the movie . The makers created an analogous-imitation mimesis by replicating the image in an exaggerated and grand form. Second, the character Witch Doctor derived its motif from the Voodoo cult, and was expressed in analogous-imitation mimesis, using the very shades and patterns used in real life. Third, the character Monk, blending the image of a priest in Eastern Europe and images of its oriental counterparts, was expressed in transposition-diversion mimesis. Fourth, the Demon Hunter took the source of its inspiration from the image of a Witch hunter in the medieval times. The game character has a sharper sleeker figure than its model, and uses more acute shapes and darker gloomier colors expressed in an analogous-imitation mimesis. Finally, the character Magician took a formless character and expressed it in transposition-diversion mimesis taking as its basis some fantasy novels.

  • This study has attempted to investigate the effect of cubism on fashion and figure out how its formative characteristics have been expressed in contemporary fashion in the 21st century, focusing on the period since 2010. The propose of the study is to broaden research scope in fashion design through analysis and inspection on formative aspects among the cases which have proposed brand - new fashion designs by adapting cubism in fashion. To find out the characteristics of cubism in painting and formative characteristics of contemporary fashion in which the characteristics of cubism are reflected, a literature review has been conducted by referring to domestic and foreign books, previous papers, academic journals and Internet resources on cubism. For an empirical study, in addition, photos of cubism-applied modern fashion have been collected and analyzed through http://www. samsungdesign.net. The following results have been obtained: First, the formative characteristics of cubism were obtained in following categories; character of figure, simultaneity, reiteration and facticity. Second, according to analysis on cases after applying the formative characteristics on contemporary fashion design, the character of figure by the geometric shape of cubism was observed in fashion as well. After dismantling and reconfiguring garments, simultaneity has been expressed in an exaggerated and distorted manner through regular and repetitive overlapping or overlapping of irregular shapes. In terms of facticity, novelty has been delivered with the use of heterogeneous materials, using collage and patchwork techniques. Third, simplicity and functionality in cubism - style garments in the early 20th century have disappeared in contemporary design in the 21st century. Now, a dynamic aspect is only found. Fourth, unlike common paintings, 2D textiles are added to a 3D body in fashion design. In addition, it can be observed from multiple angles depending on the movement so that it can display more diverse shapes. Therefore, it could be the origin of inspiration to many designers.
