Magnetic Properties and Magnetoimpedance Effect in Mumetal Thin Films

  • The dependence of the magnetoimpedance effect (MI) on magnetic properties has been investigated in mumetal thin films prepared by rf magnetron sputtering. Coercivity of thin films prepared at 400 W was about 0.4 Oe, and the magnetic anisotropy field of films deposited under a uniaxial magnetic field decreased with increasing film thickness. The saturation magnetization of mumetal films increased with rising input power and thickness and was smaller than that of permalloy films. Transverse incremental Permeability (TPR) of films of 1$\mu m$ thick increased with increasing effective permeability. The magneto impedance ratio (MIR) was proportional to TPR in films 1$\mu m$ thick but in spite of lower effective permeability at higher thicknesses, MIR increased due to skin effect. The height of the double peaks in the MIR curves decreased with decreasing anisotropy and thickness. The maximum MIR value for a 4$\mu m$ thick 75% at 36.5 MHz.

Degradation Evaluation of Mechanical Property for Modified 9Cr-1Mo Steel by Reversible Permeability

  • The present work studies a nondestructive evaluation of the degradation of modified 9Cr-1Mo steel using a magnetic method based on the existence of the peaks of reversible permeability (RP) in the differential magnetization around the coercive force. The apparatus is based on detection of the voltage induced in a coil using a lock-in amplifier tuned to the frequency of the AC perturbing field. Results obtained for the reversible permeability and Vickers hardness on the aged samples showed the peak interval of reversible permeability (PIRP) and Vickers hardness decrease as aging time increased. The correlation between Vickes hardness and the PIRP could be used to evaluate degradation of modified 9Cr-1Mo steel.

  • 고온, 고압에서 운용되고 있는 설비의 안전성을 평가하기 위해서는 사용시간 동안 열화된 물성을 정기적으로 점검하여 설비의 잔여수명을 평가해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 교류 섭동 자기장을 인가하여 구한 가역투자율 값을 이용하여 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V 강의 잔여수명을 평가하기 위한 자기적 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 이 방법은 자기이력곡선의 미분값인 가역투자율이 보자력에서 첨두 값을 갖는 특성을 이용하였으며, 측정원리는 교류 섭동 자기장의 주파수에 동조된 록-인 증폭기를 사용하여 탐지코일에 유도된 제 1 고조파의 전압을 측정하는 것이다. 가역투자율의 첨두값 간격 (peak interval of reversible magnetic permeability: PIRMP)과 비커스 경도는 열화가 진행됨에 따라 감소하였다 따라서 비커스 경도와 PIRMP상관관계에 의해 연화곡선을 구할 수 있고, 이 연화곡선에 의해 터빈로터 강의 잔여수명을 평가할 수 있다.

Testing of the permeability of concrete box beam with ion transport method in service

  • The permeability is the most direct indicator to reflect the durability of concrete, and the testing methods based on external electric field can be used to evaluate concrete permeability rapidly. This study aims to use an experiment method to accurately predict the permeability of concrete box beam during service. The ion migration experiments and concrete surface resistivity are measured to evaluate permeability of five concrete box beams, and the relations between these results in service concrete and electric flux after 6 hours by ASTM C1202 in the laboratory are analyzed. The chloride diffusion coefficient of concrete, concrete surface resistivity and concrete 6 hours charge have good correlation relationship, which denote that the chloride diffusion coefficient and the surface resistivity of concrete are effective for evaluating the durability of concrete structures. The chloride diffusion coefficient of concrete is directly evaluated permeability of concrete box beam in service and may be used to predict the service life, which is fit to engineering applications and the concrete box beam is non-destructive. The concrete surface resistivity is easier available than the chloride diffusion coefficient, but it is directly not used to calculate the service life. Therefore the mathematical relation of the concrete surface resistivity and the concrete chloride diffusion coefficient need to be found, which the service life of reinforced concrete is obtained by the concrete surface resistivity.

불포화토의 투수계수분석 및 투수계수 방정식의 적용성 평가 (The Analysis of Permeability Coefficient and the Evaluation of Equations of Permeability Coefficient for an Unsaturated Soils)

  • 불포화토의 투수특성을 규명하기 위하여 3가지의 시료를 선정하고 흙수분 특성 시험을 선행한 후, 흡인력을 조절하면서 일련의 투수계수시험을 수행하였다. 공시체는 불교란 시료를 사용하여 자연 상태로 제작하였으며, 정수위 투수시험법을 이용하여 투수계수를 측정하였다. 아울러, 흙수분 특성곡선에서 도출된 계수를 이용하여 Brooks and Corey(1964)와 van Genuchten(1980)의 제안식으로 투수계수를 예측하였고, 이를 시험에 의한 투수계수와 비교 및 검토하여 기존 제안식의 적용성을 검토하였다.

Purification During Crossflow Electromicrofiltration of Fermentation Broth

  • The present study was to investigate the purification of a fermentation broth by an electromicrofiltration membrane. Microfiltration runs with a crude and a centrifuged broth, with solution of particles recovered from centrifugation and with permeates from microfiltration experiments were thus compared. Microfiltration performances were governed by colloids and small particles that induced sharp initial flux declines. For these results, the evolution of the overall membrane resistance was increased by $80\%$ in comparison with the electromicrofiltration membrane. The main focus of this study was set on the enhancement of the filtrate flux by an electric field. This pressure electrofiltration leads to a drastic improvement of the filtration by $100\%$ and the filtration time was thereby reduced. Pressure electrofiltration serves as an inter­esting alternative to the cross-flow filtration and it effectively separates advantageous constitu­ents such as amino acids and biopolymers from a fermentation broth. They were equally main­tained during the microelectrofiltration, although they were significantly reduced by $45\%$ by the microfiltration without the application of an electric field. Accordingly, since the electrofiltration membrane was provided more permeability, this study experimentally demonstrates that the permeability inside a membrane can be controlled using an electric field.

지수조건에 따른 Z형 강널말뚝 연결부의 투수특성 (The Permeability Characteristic of Z-Type Sheet Pile Joints under Water Sealing Conditions)

  • 강널말뚝(sheet pile)은 지하수의 침투저하 및 누수방지를 위하여 토목공사에서 폭넓게 이용되고 있으며, 특히 최근에는 강널말뚝의 지수효과로 인하여 오염된 지역의 지하수 흐름 또는 침출수의 차폐에도 사용되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Z형 강널말뚝을 오염지역의 오염물질 차폐방법으로 적용할 경우에 대하여 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 지수재의 도포조건과 강널말뚝의 시공조건 그리고 지반조건에 따른 Z형 강널말뚝의 연결부에 대한 실내 및 현장실험을 실시하였다. 실험결과, Z형 강널말뚝에 대한 모형실험을 통하여 지반조건에 따른 강널말뚝의 팽창지수재 도포방법, 강널말뚝 설치방법, 지반조건, 압력수두에 따른 투수특성을 파악하였으며, Z형 강널말뚝 연결부분의 효과적인 지수방안을 강구하였다. Z형 강널말뚝의 장기적인 지수효과는 강널말뚝 연결부의 자연적인 막힘 현상에 의하여 얻을 수 있으며 단기적인 지수효과는 지수재 도포에 의하여 효과적으로 얻을 수 있다. 본 실험결과로 인하여 Z형 강널말뚝이 오염지역의 차폐에 효과적으로 적용될 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

차도포장용 투수블록의 재료특성 및 투수성능 평가 (Evaluation of Field Permeability and Material Characteristics of Permeable Block for Roadway Pavement)

  • 급속한 산업화가 진행되면서 건물과 인공 포장된 도로의 급격한 증가하고 있다. 이로 인한 도심 집중강우에 따른 도로침수, 포장체 파손 등이 발생하고 있다. 이에 대한 해결책으로 도심지 내 투수성 포장의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구는 투수블록의 차도포장 적용 가능성 현장 평가를 하기 위하여 공용기간 동안 차도용 투수블록의 투수성능을 평가하였다. 평가결과 줄눈재 및 받침안전층은 품질관리기준을 만족하였으며 휨강도는 1개소만이 5.29 MPa로 기준을 만족하였다. 실내투수지속성시험의 결과는 4개 제품중 1등급 1개, 2등급 1개, 3등급 2개로 평가되었으며 현장투수 및 현장 침투능은 각 제품의 9개월 간의 추적 조사 결과 1개 제품을 제외한 모든 제품에서 0.1 mm/s 이상의 품질기준을 만족하였다.

NFC의 자기 차폐용 Ni-Zn-Co 페라이트 자성체의 고주파 자기특성 (High-frequency Magnetic Properties of Ni-Zn-Co Ferrites Used for Mangetic Shielding in NFC)

  • This study investigated the magnetic properties and frequency dispersion of complex permeability of Ni-Zn-Co ferrites used for magnetic shielding in near field communication (NFC) system. The sintered specimens of $(Ni_{0.7}Zn_{0.3})_{1-x}Co_xFe_2O_4$ composition were prepared by the conventional ceramic processing. The coercive force and saturation magnetization were measured by vibrating sample magnetometer. The complex permeability was measured by RF impedance analyzer in the range of 1 MHz~1.8 GHz. The coercive force increased and saturation magnetization decreased with increasing the Co substitution. The real and imaginary parts of complex permeability decreased and the resonance frequency increased with Co substitution, which was attributed to the increase in crystal anisotropy field and reduction in saturation magnetization. The effect of Co substitution could be found in reducing the magnetic loss to nearly zero at the operating frequency of NFC (13.56 MHz).

Groutability enhancement by oscillatory grout injection: Verification by field tests

  • Grout injection is mainly used for permeability reduction and/or improvement of the ground by injecting grout material into pores, cracks, and joints in the ground. The oscillatory grout injection method was developed to enhance the grout penetration. In order to verify the level of enhancement of the grout, field grout injection tests, both static and oscillatory tests, were performed at three job sites. The enhancement in the permeability reduction and ground improvement effect was verified by performing a core boring, borehole image processing analysis, phenolphthalein test, scanning electron microscopy analysis, variable heat test, Lugeon test, standard penetration test, and an elastic wave test. The oscillatory grout injection increased the joint filling rate by 80% more and decreased the permeability coefficient by 33-68%, more compared to the static grout injection method. The constrained modulus of the jointed rock mass was increased by 50% more with oscillatory grout injection compared to the static grout injection, indicating that the oscillatory injection was more effective in enhancing the stiffness of the rock mass.
