  • Soil chemical properties, relief of field surface, SPAD values and grain yield were investigated in a 0.5ha paddy field in 1999 to obtain basic field information for precision agriculture. Descriptive statistics of field information showed that the coefficient of variation ranged from 1.63% to 38.7%. Field information showed a high spatial dependence for within paddy field. The ranges of spatial dependence were from 15m to 60m, respectively. Kriged maps enable the visualization and comparison the spatial variability of field information. The causes of spatial variability of the field information could be explained rationally by a field management map. Grain yield was negatively correlated with pH, relief values, whereas, was positively correlated with total C, total N, C/N ratio, mineralizable N, available P and exchangeable K, Ca at the significant level of 1 %.

  • Recently, research on digital twins to generate digital information and manage construction in real-time using advanced technology is being conducted actively. However, in the construction industry, it is difficult to optimize and apply digital technology in real-time due to the nature of the construction industry in which information is constantly fluctuating. In addition, inaccurate information on the topography of construction projects is a major challenge for earthmoving processes. In order to ultimately improve the cost-effectiveness of construction projects, both construction quality and productivity should be addressed through efficient construction information management in large-scale earthworks projects. Therefore, in this study, a 3D digital map-based AR site management work support system for higher efficiency and accuracy of site management was proposed by using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in wide earthworks construction sites to generate point cloud data, building a 3D digital map through acquisition and analysis of on-site sensor-based information, and performing the visualization with AR at the site By utilizing the 3D digital map-based AR site management work support system proposed in this study, information is able to be provided quickly to field managers to enable an intuitive understanding of field conditions and immediate work processing, thereby reducing field management sluggishness and limitations of traditional information exchange systems. It is expected to contribute to the improvement of productivity by overcoming factors that decrease productivity in the construction industry and the improvement of work efficiency at construction sites.

  • Taipei Watershed Management Bureau (WRATB) is a government agency entitled for water resources protection at two major watersheds in order to provide drinking water for about four millions population in Taipei on a sustainable basis. At WRATB, there are two major public sewage treatment facilities which can convert sewage in each watershed into an acceptable state before they were discharged into rivers. More than 82% of household wastewater have been collected and treated by the two public sewage systems. However, households at remote area still need more effective sewage management prescriptions. The objective of this paper is to implement geographic information systems in order to provide more effective approaches that sewage management can be easier and cost effective. ArcIMS was implemented for Internet browsing and map server of those sewage facilities on personal computers, laptop computers. In the open field, ArcPAD was implemented with personal digital assistant (PDA) such that compact flash type's global positioning systems (GPS) and digital camera can be utilized with PDA. All sewage facilities digital files were convert into ArcMap format files. MapObjects and visual BASIC were used to create sewage application modules to meet every single technician personal flavor. ASP.NET was implemented for Internet database manipulations of all sewage databases. Mobile GIS was the key component of GIS applications in the open field for sewage management on a basis of house by house. Houses at remote area, which can not cover by the two public sewage systems, were managed by PDA and laptop computers with GPS and digital camera. Sewage management at Taipei Watershed Management Bureau is easier both in the open field and in the office. Integration of GPS, GIS, and PDA makes sewage management in the open field much easier. ArcIMS, MapObjects, ASP.NET and visual BASIC make sewage management can be done in the office and over Internet.

  • It is not an easy task for forest managers to make sound decisions on forest management and operations planning because of huge sets of spatial and temporal data and complex decision-making processes involved. However, as an efficient tool, GIS techniques enable them to enhance broad understandings on forest inventory and management conditions. In this study, we developed a GIS model for field use in forest management. In building the model, we have chosen MapInfo version 4.0 as the basic engine of the model. The model also includes an interface module to help forest managers use MapInfo functions easily. It handles MapInfo functions required to manage inventory data and analyze spatial distributions of forest stands. For testing field applicability of the model, we have build field data sets for a district of Chunchun National Forest. Then, we tested functions through quarrying stand attributes and constructing thematic maps. In this paper, the structures and functions of the model as well as the results of field applications are discussed.

  • Site-specific N application for corn is one of the precision crop management. To implement the site-specific N application, various nitrogen stress sensing methods, including aerial image, tissue analysis, soil sampling analysis, and SPAD meter readings, have been used. Use of side-dressing, an efficient nitrogen application method than a uniform application in either late fall or early spring, relies mainly on the capability of nitrogen deficiency detection. This paper presents map-based variable rate nitrogen application based using a multi-spectral corn nitrogen deficiency(CND) sensor. This sensor assess the nitrogen stress by means of the estimated SPAD reading calculated from the corn leave reflectance. The estimated SPAD value from the CND sensor system and location information form DGPS of each field block was combined into the field map using a ArcView program. Then this map was converted into a raster file for a map-based variable rate application software. The relative SPAD (RSPAD = SPAD over reference SPAD) was investigated 2 weeks after the treatments. The results showed that the map-based variable rate application system was feasible.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the accuracy of cultivated crop database in agricultural farm business using UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and field survey over Daesso-myeon, Umsung-gun, Chungbuk. When comparing with agricultural farm business and cadastral maps, Daeso-myeon crop field shows 29.8%(2,030 parcels out of 6,822 parcels) is either mismatched or missing. It covers almost 19.3%($3.4km^2$ of $17.6km^2$) of total farmland. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to prepare a multifaceted plan including cadastral map. Comparative analysis of the cultivated crop registered in the agricultural farm business and the field survey agreed only in 3,622 parcels in total 6,822 parcels whereas 3200 parcels disagree. Among these disagreed parcels 2,030(29.8%) have been confirmed as unregistered farm business entity. Accuracy of cultivated crop registered in agricultural farm business agreed in 75.6% cases. Especially the paddy field registration is more accurate that other crops. These discrepancies can lead to false payment in agricultural farm business. For exploration and analysis of regional resources, UAV images can be used together with farm business management database and cadastral map to get a clearer grasp over on-site resources and conditions.

  • This study examined the method of making high-quality serial cadastral map with field surveying, the renewal and applications of serial cadastral map which is made for the application of notification of various topographical maps, and related legal and institutional contents. The results of the study are as follows. First, we suggested the way of modification that enables preexisting methods to connect with field surveying in order to improve utilizability of serial cadastral map that is not utilized properly. In addition, we came up with legal grounds from a current law, 'act on surveying watercourses survey and cadastre' for the modification. We also examined legal and institutional factors, the renewal and application of various notifications of topographical maps for efficient application, and the application of modified serial cadastral map for field surveying. Once the current cadastral map is modified based on the results of our study, it is possible that notification of topographical maps gets more accurate, and serial cadastral map can be used for field surveying. In addition, the modification can be utilized for a step-by-step strategy that reduces the existing cadastral map managed as 3 types into the cadastral map managed as 1 type.
