유니버설디자인 관점에서 이동약자를 위한 안경원 출입구 편의시설 실태조사 - 서울특별시를 중심으로 (The Field Investigation of Optical Shop Entrance Facilities for the Mobility Impairment from the Universal Design - Focused on Seoul Metropolitan City)

  • Purpose: Mobility impairment persons are all people who experience mobility difficulties in their daily lives, which makes up about 30% of the population in Seoul Metropolitan City; this number is expected to increase with population aging. As the number of mobility impairment persons in need of vision correction increases, it is necessary to create the Universal Design guidelines and to provide the foundation to access convenience facilities at the entrance of optical shops, a health and medical institution. Methods: Of the 2,282 optical shops located in Seoul, 252 optical shops were chosen for data collection of actual photos, from April 10, 2022 to September 4, 2022. Based on the photographs, the height difference between the entrance and the sidewalk, safety handles, and opening and closing methods of entrances were investigated, as these factors correspond to the accessibility and the mobility of the mobility impairment persons. Results: Of the 252 optical shops surveyed, 114 (45.2%) have resolved the problems of height difference through improving horizontal accessibility (61) or using ramps (53). 36 (14.3%) optical shops chose automatic doors for opening and closing methods of the entrance. Implications: The rate of installation of access convenience facilities for the entrance of optical shops is slightly lower than the rate of installation of ramps, surveyed by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It is necessary to apply the Universal Design to access convenience facilities for the entrance of optical shops for not only the mobility impairment persons but all people, regardless of age or ability, to conveniently access healthcare services.

Assessment of seismic stability of finite slope in c-ϕ soils - a plasticity approach

  • A forecast of slope behavior during catastrophic events, such as earthquakes is crucial to recognize the risk of slope failure. This paper endeavors to eliminate the significant supposition of predefined slip surfaces in the slope stability analysis, which questions the relevance of simple conventional methods under seismic conditions. To overcome such limitations, a methodology dependent on the slip line hypothesis, which permits an automatic generation of slip surfaces, is embraced to trace the extreme slope face under static and seismic conditions. The effect of earthquakes is considered using the pseudo-static approach. The current outcomes developed from a parametric study endorse a non-linear slope surface as the extreme profile, which is in accordance with the geomorphological aspect of slopes. The proposed methodology is compared with the finite element limit analysis to ensure credibility. Through the design charts obtained from the current investigation, the stability of slopes can be assessed under seismic conditions. It can be observed that the extreme slope profile demands a flat configuration to endure the condition of the limiting equilibrium at a higher level of seismicity. However, a concurrent enhancement in the shear strength of the slope medium suppresses this tendency by offering greater resistance to the seismic inertial forces induced in the medium. Unlike the traditional linear slopes, the extreme slope profiles mostly exhibit a steeper layout over a significant part of the slope height, thus ensuring a more optimized solution to the slope stability problem. Further, the susceptibility of the Longnan slope failure in the Huining-Wudu seismic belt is predicted using the current plasticity approach, which is found to be in close agreement with a case study reported in the literature. Finally, the concept of equivalent single or multi-tiered planar slopes is explored through an example problem, which exhibits the appropriateness of the proposed non-linear slope geometry under actual field conditions.

Effects of inclined bedrock on dissimilar pile composite foundation under vertical loading

  • Pile composite foundation (PCF) has been commonly applied in practice. Existing research has focused primarily on semi-infinite media having equal pile lengths with little attention given to the effects of inclined bedrock and dissimilar pile lengths. This investigation considers the effects of inclined bedrock on vertical loaded PCF with dissimilar pile lengths. The pile-soil system is decomposed into fictitious piles and extended soil. The Fredholm integral equation about the axial force along fictitious piles is then established based on the compatibility of axial strain between fictitious piles and extended soil. Then, an iterative procedure is induced to calculate the PCF characteristics with a rigid cap. The results agree well with two field load tests of a single pile and numerical simulation case. The settlement and load transfer behaviors of dissimilar 3-pile PCFs and the effects of inclined bedrock are analyzed, which shows that the embedded depth of the inclined bedrock significantly affects the pile-soil load sharing ratios, non-dimensional vertical stiffness N0/wdEs, and differential settlement for different length-diameter ratios of the pile l/d and pile-soil stiffness ratio k conditions. The differential settlement and pile-soil load sharing ratios are also influenced by the inclined angle of the bedrock for different k and l/d. The developed model helps better understand the PCF characteristics over inclined bedrock under vertical loading.

  • The alarming global prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) has catalyzed an urgent need for robust, early diagnostic methodologies. This study unveils a pioneering approach to predicting T2DM, employing the Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm, renowned for its predictive accuracy and computational efficiency. The investigation harnesses a meticulously curated dataset of 4303 samples, extracted from a comprehensive Chinese research study, scrupulously aligned with the World Health Organization's indicators and standards. The dataset encapsulates a multifaceted spectrum of clinical, demographic, and lifestyle attributes. Through an intricate process of hyperparameter optimization, the XGBoost model exhibited an unparalleled best score, elucidating a distinctive combination of parameters such as a learning rate of 0.1, max depth of 3, 150 estimators, and specific colsample strategies. The model's validation accuracy of 0.957, coupled with a sensitivity of 0.9898 and specificity of 0.8897, underlines its robustness in classifying T2DM. A detailed analysis of the confusion matrix further substantiated the model's diagnostic prowess, with an F1-score of 0.9308, illustrating its balanced performance in true positive and negative classifications. The precision and recall metrics provided nuanced insights into the model's ability to minimize false predictions, thereby enhancing its clinical applicability. The research findings not only underline the remarkable efficacy of XGBoost in T2DM prediction but also contribute to the burgeoning field of machine learning applications in personalized healthcare. By elucidating a novel paradigm that accentuates the synergistic integration of multifaceted clinical parameters, this study fosters a promising avenue for precise early detection, risk stratification, and patient-centric intervention in diabetes care. The research serves as a beacon, inspiring further exploration and innovation in leveraging advanced analytical techniques for transformative impacts on predictive diagnostics and chronic disease management.

  • This study aims to validate the user experience associated with the personalized recommendation systems of fashion vertical platforms. The investigation focused on women aged 18 to 30 with prior experience using personalized fashion recommendation systems. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0, and the outcomes can be summarized as follows. Firstly, the diversity and usefulness of information quality exerted a positive effect on use satisfaction. Secondly, the affirmative impact of the reliability of system quality on user satisfaction was established, although stability was not confirmed. Thirdly, the study identified a favorable connection between ease-of-use of service quality and user satisfaction, while the influence of tangibles was unsubstantiated. Fourthly, the degree of self-reference was found to have a positive effect on user satisfaction. Fifthly, a constructive relationship emerged between user satisfaction and both continuous-use intention and recommendation intention. Lastly, there was a significant difference in the magnitude of the effect of ease-of-use on satisfaction according to self-regulatory focus. The findings of this study hold the potential to enhance the explanatory and predictive power of the field of consumer behavior within the novel shopping landscape of fashion vertical platforms.

Investigation of three-dimensional deformation mechanisms of box culvert due to adjacent deep basement excavation in clays

  • In this study, a series of three-dimensional numerical parametric study was conducted to investigate deformation mechanisms of an existing box culvert due to an adjacent multi-propped basement excavation in clays. Field measurements from an excavation case history are first used to calibrate a baseline Hardening Soil Small Strain (HS-small) model, which is subsequently adopted for parametric study. Results indicate that the basement-box culvert interaction along the basement centerline can be considered as a plane strain condition when the length of excavation (L) reaches 14 He (i.e., final excavation depth). If a plane strain condition (i.e., L/He=12.0) is assumed for analyzing the basement-box culvert interaction of a short excavation (i.e., L/He=2.0), the maximum settlement and horizontal movement of the box culvert are overestimated significantly by up to 15.7 and 5.1 times, respectively. It is also found that the deformation of box culvert can be greatly affected by the basement excavation if the distance between the box culvert and retaining wall is less than 1.5 He. The induced deformation in the box culvert can be dramatically reduced by improving the ground inside the excavation or implementing other precautionary measures. For example, by adding jet grouting columns within the basement and installing an isolation wall behind the retaining structures, the maximum settlements of box culvert are shown to reduce by 37.2% and 13.4%, respectively.

장수마을계획을 위한 S마을 풍수특성 기초조사 (Analysis on the Feng-Shui Characteristics of S village for the Longevity Village Plan)

  • The present study analyzed the spatial characteristics of S village according to the Feng-Shui theory(風水理論). People's life span is affected by several factors including hereditary constitution, dietary life and life habits but recently there is an opinion that longevity village in Korea are commonly located in areas at a proper altitude. The objective of the present study was to basic investigate the characteristics of S village from the viewpoint of Feng-Shui(風水). As for this study, it will be given help to a longevity village plan. For this purpose, we conducted field survey and map investigation of the natural geographic situation of S village focused on Ryong(龍, contiguous line of terrestrial stratum), Hull(穴, village location), Sa(砂, geographical feature of surrounding mountains), Su(水, water flow) and Hyang(向), which are Feng-Shui(風水) objects to be observed. According to the result of this research, S Village, which has mountains in the rear and a river in the front, was found to be in fine geographic situation equipped with Sashinsa(四神砂). According to the Feng-Shui theory(風水理論), the village was hang-ju-hyoung(行舟形), which means that people and properties flourish together. A shortcoming of the village was the absence of Ahnsan(案山) to block harmful winds blowing to the fore of the village. In addition, another shortcoming of the village in terms of Feng-Shui(風水) was the large variation of temperature because of its location surrounded by high mountains as if the village was situated inside a bowl. The Hyang(向) of village houses were arranged by the geographical feature and not by Feng-Shui(風水).

한국농업전문학교 농촌관광교육에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Rural Tourism Education in the Korea National Agricultural College)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the necessity of rural tourism education in the Korea National Agricultural College and suggest the educational plan. Recently, the Korean government proposes the rural tourism as an alternative plan for solving the problems of agriculture and rural community that experience difficulty by the opening of agricultural market and the falling price, etc. As result of investigation of cases of OECD nations and the growth rate of tourism market in Korea, it has been determined that the demand of rural tourism was sufficient. The Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry makes a goal of attracting the yearly 150million tourists by 2013 to the rural communities. Rural tourism can be new income source in the rural communities in Korea. It is important to develop the resources in the rural amenity and promote the tourism leader group with it that will be applicable in the field in order that this rural tourism may take its place as main source of income. As a result of research, on the characteristics of the Korea National Agricultural College that the demand of manpower about the rural tourism and the most of students settled down on the rural community after their graduation, it has been determined that the education for rural tourism leaders in the Korea National Agricultural College would authenticate the validity. Also, it suggested the educational plan by the curriculum for the education for the rural tourism leaders, and suggested the necessity of the establishment of the department of rural tourism. The establishment of the department of rural tourism in the Korea National Agricultural College should be investigated and determined carefully through the relations with the other departments and the process of collecting the public opinions within and outside schools, etc.

  • 현대 산업에서 위성항법시스템(Global Navigation Satellite System : GNSS)은 PNT 정보(측위(P : Positioning), 항법(N : Navigation), 시각동기(T : Timing))가 항상 제공되어야 하고, 그 정보를 기반으로 정밀한 위치추정이 요구되는 다양한 분야에 활용되고 있다. 특히, 2019년부터 시작된 COVID-19 펜데믹 상황에 대한 감염 예방 및 확산 방지를 위해 정밀한 위성항법시스템 기술과 이를 보조하는 다양한 기술들이 사용되어 왔고, 전 세계의 적극적인 방역과 감염 확산 억제 노력으로 엔데믹 상황으로의 전환을 앞두고 있다. 질병, E-health 분야는 감염병의 추적 및 감시와 더불어 원격 의료 서비스 제공을 위해 이용자의 위치정보가 반드시 필요한데, 위성항법시스템이 정확한 위치정보 제공에 주도적인 역할을 하고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 위성항법시스템 기술이 질병 및 E-health 분야에 활용된 최신 연구 동향에 대해 조사한 결과를 제시하고 그 결과를 분석한다.

부유형 PS(SPS) 속도검층을 통한 전단파 특성 고찰 (Investigation of S-wave Velocity Based on SPS Field Tests)

  • 국내 점성토 지반 및 풍화토 지반의 전단파속도 특성을 파악하기 위하여 표준관입시험(SPT), 부유형 PS 속도검층(SPS) 및 다운홀 등의 시험을 수행하였으며, SPT와 SPS 속도검층 결과로부터 지층별 전단파 속도를 분석하였다. 본 연구대상 지역에서 측정된 전단파 속도를 점성토와 풍화토로 나누어 분석하여 지반강도와 전단파속도와의 상관관계로부터 경험식을 제안할 수 있었는데, 점성토에서는 여러 학자들에 의하여 기존에 제안된 경험식과 유사한 결과를 나타내었으나 풍화토에서는 기존 경험식에 의한 값과 연구대상 지역에서 측정한 실측값과는 다소 차이가 있음을 확인하였다. 아울러 연구 대상지역에 대한 전단파 속도의 깊이에 따른 영향을 제시하였고 이 결과를 Ohta 등(1978)의 경험식과 비교, 검토하였다.
