A novel TEM resonator coil was developed for the imaging of small animals. The functional elements of the TEM resonator were 8 inner conductors, distributed in a cylindrical pattern and connected at the ends with capacitors to the cylindrical outer shield. The TEM resonator coil with cavity elements was robust to the surrounding influences due to the self-shielding structure. The TEM resonator coil with high Q factor could provide high quality MR images at 3.0T MRI system. Also, the TEM resonator coil has an advantage for a fine tune with length adjustment of each cavity elements. Thus, The TEM resonator coil at 3.0T, even higher field could be used in the research studies.
Membrane proteins in highly oriented lipid bilayer samples are useful for membrane protein structure determination. We used in the past planar lipid bilayers which were aligned and supported on the glass slide. These samples were mechanically aligned in a magnetic field. However, these stacks of glass slides with planar lipid bilayers are not well suited for use with a commercial solid-state NMR probe with a round coil. Therefore, a homebuilt solid-state NMR probe was built and used with a stack of thin glass plates wherein the RF coil was wrapped directly around the flat square sample. Recently, we began to use magnetically aligned bicelles that are suitable for the structure determination of membrane proteins by solid-state NMR spectroscopy without any effort to build a flat square coil probe. These bicelle samples are well suited for use with a commercial solidstate NMR probe with a round coil, are very easy to prepare and are very stable, so that they can be kept for more than a year. In this paper, we present the solid-state NMR spectra of optimized and magnetically oriented bicelle samples of membrane proteins.

Considering the application of high temperature superconductor to MRI, the loss at conductor joint would be very important. Therefore, we have carried out a measurement of joint resistance of Bi-2223/Ag tapes at 77 K. A pancake coil was wound by Bi-2223/Ag tape. Both ends the tape were overlapped and soldered to each other. The DC current is induced in the pancake coil by energizing the excitation coil wound by copper wire closely located to the pancake coil. The decay behaviour of the current in coils was clearly separated in two regimes, and initial fast decay of the order of minutes followed by a slow logarithmic-like decay, From this data, the resistance of the joint was evaluated as 2.74 n$\Omega$.

Ceil embolisation technique has been used to treat the intracranial aneurysms. Microcoils inserted into the aneurysm sac induce the blood flow stagnation inside the aneurysm sac, which causes the thrombus formation and embolisation of aneurysm. Since the intraaneurysmal flow patterns affect the embolisation process, we want to measure the flow field for different locations of coil inside the aneurysm sac . Lateral aneurysm models are manufactured using rapid prototyping, and the velocity fields are measured using particle image velocitimeter. Distally blocked models showed less flow into the aneurysm sac comparing to proximally blocked models. Also blocking the neck of aneurysm showed better inflow blocking comparing to blocking the dome of aneurysm. These results suggest that distal neck should be the preferred locations of coil for aneurysm embolisation.
The voice coil actuator uses the Lorentz force between the magnetic field of the permanent magnets and the electromagnets to the motions and positioning. The small size, light weight and fast dynamic response of the these type actuators lead to admit them in the micro-positioning apparatus of the micro-machining systems. In this paper, the linear motion voice coil actuator is developed for the driving and positioning the rotating electrode of the electric discharge machine (EDM). The analyzed and measured results for the actuator are compared and discussed.

We designed a model composed of a ring type magnet, a yoke, and a sensing coil embedded in a projectile for simulating the muzzle velocity. The muzzle velocity was obtained from the master curve for the induced voltage at sensing coil and the velocity as the projectile pass through the magnetic field. The induced voltage and the projectile's velocity are fitted by the $2^{nd}$ order polynomial. The skin effect difference between projectiles which consist of aluminum-aluminum and aluminum-steel was small. The projectile will surely be burst at the pre-determined target area using the flight time and the projectile muzzle velocity calculated from the voltage induced at the sensing coil on the projectile.
In order to prevent the belt from being damaged by metal pieces, we developed multicoil-type metal detection system. This detects the presence of belt clips and position of metal pieces in ores being transported on conveyor belt. In this research, our coil sensor of multicoil-type metal detection system is divided into two parts, exciting part (transmitter coil) and sensing part composed of two receiver coils. Each receiver coil has several coils in the direction of belt width. Multicoil-type metal detection system is operated by supplying a transmitter coil with electric power resources to generate magnetic field, and then the change of magnetic flux resulted from a metal piece on the conveyor be a is induced into sensing coils. We can prevent detector from failing to catch metal pieces due to high threshold level produced by steel belt clips and male the sensitivity of belt-width direction uniform by using multicoil-type metal detection system. Besides, this developed system can recognize precise position and size of metal piece. The experiments shows that our multicoil-type metal detection system has better performances than the conventional metal piece detector.
Rogowski coil which detects magnetic flux on current changes. It is used for digital integration with watt-hour meter's current sensor, because, Rogowski coil has non-cored or non-magnetic core structure, so that, it cannot be saturated magnetically. This is a study for inventing accurate electric current sensors that have been applied on multi-layer ceramic substrate. We have confirmed its properties from each different layer's materials and pattern sizes by MWS 3D Electromagnetic field analysis program. And, after sensor manufacturing on multi-layer ceramic substrate, we confirmed its sensing quality is reliable as accurate electric current sensor for watt-hour meter.

This paper describes design and construction results of the measurement system developed on the purpose of measuring properties of AC magnetic field sensors used in the weapon system. The system for measuring the properties of AC magnetic field sensors consist of 3-axis helmholtz coil, signal generator, signal amplifier, sensor data acquisition unit and AC magnetic field sensor property measurement & analysis equipment including the operating software. By using this system, we can measure various properties of AC magnetic field sensor such as sensitivity, linearity and dynamic response in the frequency from 1 Hz to 10 kHz. Finally we also verified its performance by measuring the property of a MAG 639, standard magnetic field sensor of bartington instruments, with the developed measurement system.
