The purpose of this study was to estimate that the relations of weathering speed and shear strength of granite soil by tracing the weathering depth of granite soil from the very moment of its cutting. The results obtained this follows ; 1) The relationships among Nc, Li and CEC, Li>6%, CEC>14 corresponds to Nc=2~30, and 4%${\phi}$)increases at a standard pressure. 3) And Nc=0~50 corresponds to $27{\sim}50^{\circ}$ of internal fiction angle and to 12~49kPa of cohesion. That is to say, internal friction angle(${\phi}$)corresponds better than cohesion(c). In conclusion, this study suggests that in simplified dynamic cone penetration test a penetration boundary line of 5 centimeters is decided at around Li=4%, CEC=3(meq/100g) which is classified as a completely weathering soil. It also appears that CEC increases as Li increases while Nc decreases.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the friction coefficients between abutment materials and clasp materials, and to an estimation formula for retention force. The coefficients of friction between three clasp materials and four abutment materials were measured under various conditions, polished and sandblasted and wet and dry. The measurement was repeated for each combination up to a total measurement of 1200 times. Estimation formula for retention force is measured as sum of two terms, which the one time is proportional to the product of friction coefficient ${\mu}$ and undercut u and the other term is proportional to u-squared. Two proportional coefficient were obtained by least square method. The results are as follows: 1. Friction coefficients were ranged from 0.08 to 0.53 under various conditions. 2. Friction coefficients of non-metal abutment materials are greater in wet conditions than dry conditions. 3. Friction coefficients of sandblasted clasp against abutment are greater than that of polished clasp. 4. Clasp retention force can be estimated with the model as F=$F_d(3.0{\mu}u+1.5u^2/h)$ with minor error.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the symbolic meaning in body image and fashion style portrayed in Korea and American movies in aspects of sex, race, nature, and technology. The researcher analyzed movies in Korea and USA, and the results were as follows. In aspects of sex, movies portrayed new masculinity and femininity escaped from previous gender stereotypes, and the clothing styles characterized sex identity and sex roles. In aspects of race, more various races appeared in America movies than Korea＇s, and the appearance and stereotypes related with race were blurred by the globalization and the change of film market environments. In aspects of nature, Korea movie portrayed the human being as lyrical appearance in nature, and America movie expressed the human as a strong men conquering the nature in adventure movie or super human image combined with nature thing which endowed nature＇s superior characteristics to human body in fantasy and science fiction movies. In aspects of technology, the human bodies were described as cyborg, alien, or super human, which symbolized the do-identification in digital world, de-boundarization between human and machines, and the human＇s uncertainty.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the reading habits, reading patterns and reading motivation of 362 college students from the capital area majoring in child development or early childhood education. The main findings of this study were as follows. Firstly, 70 percent of students spent less than three hours a week on reading academic or school-related material, and 75 percent spent less than three hours a week on independent or recreational reading. Students most preferred reading the "cultural" genre and least preferred reading the "human life(spiritual)" genre. The "cultural" and the "human life(spiritual)" genres also represented the most and least frequently read genres, respectively. Secondly, students presented high-level reading patterns, in that they previewed the reading material before reading, understood the meaning of it during reading, and shared their reading experience with others after reading. Thirdly, the average reading motivation levels scored near the midpoint on a five-point scale. Fourthly, students with higher reading motivation levels displayed higher reading frequencies and preference levels for each genre, with the exception of the "fiction and humor" genre. Moreover, students with higher levels of reading motivation received higher ratings for their reading patterns.

This Study analyzes gameness in SNS. SNS is not only communication tool for real life but also game like media for the experimental fiction. As the media like games, SNS meets 6 classic game features. After the Tatradic analysis, Expressive and manipulation rules move SNS paidia direction, player's effort and negotiable outcome are obsolesced. Player's attachment is enhanced and in SNS, the tradition of MUD retrieves abstract ground with representative expression. As following result, SNS is able to extend its own area to the player's creative world for the possible. SNS is the media like games.

The Ubiquitous life is not a life style that exists in a science fiction or in a far distance future anymore. The Combination of electronic and physical space, this new type of space was created by the ubiquitous network system, and this system will offer us new life style. Also the pattern of our living will be changed by the information that has obtained from this ubiquitous network system. By offering a new way of communication from the ubiquitous surrounding, our life style such as shopping, medical treatment, banking, and working conditions and a notion such as the preference in a job title would have shifted. This study have arrived at the development of the high technology, in other words Ubiquitous age , I have considered the notion of home-network that have observed by the preceding investigators as well as the theoretical consideration of residential space in ubiquitous surrounding. After I look into the usages and examples of residential space in ubiquitous surrounding of today's society, I hope that this would be helpful for the design that strives for the comfortable living in this ubiquitous age.

Tribological behavior of novolac resin-based friction materials with three different relative amounts of graphite and zirconium silicate was investigated by using a pad-on-disk type friction tester. The goal of this paper is to examine the effects of the relative amount of a lubricant and an abrasive in the automotive friction material on friction and wear characteristics at elevated temperature. Friction and wear of friction materials were affected by the existence of transfer film(3$\^$rd/ body layer) at friction interface and the composition of friction material, especially lubricant amount. The friction material with higher content of graphite indicated homogenized and durable transfer film, and resulted in stable friction coefficient regardless of the increase in friction heat. The experimental result also showed that the higher concentration of ZrSiO$_4$ in friction material aggravated friction stability and wear resistance due to the higher friction heat generated at fiction interface during high temperature friction test.

This paper examines the relationship and ideas of Hannah Arendt and Philip Roth including how they met, their correspondence and intellectual parallels, particularly in their shared criticism of Jewish ideals and culture in Europe and North America. It analyzes similarities in their careers and texts, especially between Eichmann in Jerusalem and Operation Shylock, as well as The Ghost Writer, while measuring their reception as social commentators and writers. Kafka was an important figure for both writers, Arendt's earliest writing engaged with the significance of Kafka in understanding and criticizing twentieth century political and cultural values in Europe. For Roth, Kafka offered a similar critique of moral principles he found corroded in North American Jewish life. Arendt connected with other writers, notably Isak Dinesen, W. H. Auden, Randall Jarrell and William Styron who further linked the two: he knew both Arendt and Roth and cited, incorrectly, a work by Arendt as the source for the key incident in his 1979 novel Sophie's Choice. He claimed it was Eichmann in Jerusalem; it was Arendt's The Origins of Totalitarianism. Arendt's reaction to Roth's fiction, however, remains a mystery: she died in 1975, before Roth began to seriously and consistently engage with Holocaust issues in works like The Ghost Writer (1979) and Operation Shylock (1993). Yet even in death they are joined. Their graves are only steps apart at the Bard College Cemetery in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.

Referring to John Irving's 2001 published fiction The Fourth Hand, the publisher commented, "It seems, at first, to be a comedy, perhaps a satire, almost certainly a sexual farce. Yet, in the end, it is as realistic and emotionally moving as any of Mr. Irving's previous novels." In his early six novels, John Irving shows the world suffused with grief and deception. But his novels finally turn out also as a comic and robust novel. The writer's success in achieving this thick description of the contradictory modern world is largely due to his development of the idea of the flawed hero. Despite loss, sadness and abandonment, Irving's heroes maintain classical heroic traits such as intelligence, tenderness, protectiveness, strength, bravery, sense of humor, independence, attractiveness. In this article, I tried to emphasize these graces potent in Irving's heroes as the most attractive and influential device for the writer's consistent popularity among the general public. The cinematization of his four fictions attest to audience's sympathy toward rewarding vulnerability and truthful exaggeration in the depiction of Irving's heroes. By taking full responsibility for their own fate despite having the flaws, Irving's protagonists still appeal to many readers as heroes resilient in a modern chaotic world without losing their graces.

Diaspora studies has become one of the fastest growing field in the humanities over the past several decades, and the use of term diaspora has been widening to include almost any population on the move. Diaspora literature not only mirrors but actively incorporates this new notion of diaspora with characters "at the threshold" navigating new territories and identities. Querying how diaspora studies intersects with theatre and performance, this paper attempts to probe how recent Korean American drama parallels and promotes diaspora studies' radical departure from traditional notions of identities and territories. For this purpose, this essay 1) examines theoretical affinities between diaspora studies and performance studies 2) investigates how Sung Rno's plays, Cleveland Raining and wAve, explore and embody multiple and evolving meanings of Korean diaspora on the stage 3) examines how theatre can create the third space that transcends both Korean and American nationalism and 4) speculates possibilities of reframing Asian American Studies as Asian diaspora studies. Korean American characters in Rno's play redirect diasporic identities, as their concern gradually moves from "where I come from" to "where I go to." Instead of remaining in the dark as a mere spectator, both Rno and his characters choose to be 'on' the stage where they can imagine, perform, and realize (however temporarily) "unimaginable community" by confronting their own social, political, and cultural ambivalence. Stage, the threshold between reality and fiction, Korea and America, and past and future, becomes their true 'home' where they incubate and precipitate "nation in transformation" that Yan Haiping argues for as "another transnational."
