  • The poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) fiber is recognized as the best candidate because of its good machanical properties together with excellent resistance to alkalis[1-5]. PVA cannot be prepared by the direct polymerization due to tautomerism of vinyl alcohol monomer. Thus PVA is obtained by the saponification of poly(vinyl ester) like poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc).   • A method is proposed which can be used to obtain the fibesr content distribution of compression molded long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic sheet for nonisothermal state. The fiber is modelled to be a sphere. Once the one-dimensional unsteady state heat conduction equation in solved, the mean temperature in defined across the thickness direction. The viscosity of matrix is determined with the mean temperature. Using the obtained viscosity, two-dimensional sheet0like part compression molding is simulated with the finite element method. Comparison with experiments shows that the method accurately predicts the distribution.

스펙클 패턴을 이용한 반사형 광섬유 센서에 대한 연구 (A Study of the Reflection Type Optical Fiber Sensor Based on Speckle Detection)

  • A reflection type optical fiber line sensor based on the speckle detection has been developed using the optical fiber mirror with the reflectance of 72 %. Some experiments were carried on with the automobile and the 500 m length multimod fiber. When the automobile passed on the fiber sensor, two abrupt changes of the output waveform occured like the transmission type sensor based on the speckle variations. The signal to noise ratio of this sensor was about 40 dB.

  • A series of consolidated undrained triaxial tests for compacted short fiber reinforced clay were performed to increase the field applications, e.g. retaining wall, waste landfill, soft ground etc. of soil admixtures mixed with short fiber. Kaolin clay and three types of fiber were selected. To acquire reliable length of fibers, an auto cutter was used and a helical mixer was also used to avoid floating of fibers during mixing soil and fibers. It is found that reinforcing effect by aspect ratio and mixing ratio of short fiber decreases as confining pressure is increased. Reinforcing effect has a maximum value at the aspect ratio of 120 and the fiber content of 0.6%∼1.2% and low confining pressure like 50kPa.

  • In this paper, the status of the recent applications of carbon fiber was investigated through the published papers, informations or data of the internet etc. The production cost of the carbon fiber will be lowered and in the other hand the quality would be upgraded. Therefore in the automobile area, the use of the carbon fiber will be increased, specially for the high quality cars and the sports cars. Also the structures, wings and many secondary parts of the commercial airplanes will be made of carbon fibers more and more. The carbon fiber applications are extended to many fields including ship buildings like as boats, canoes and retrofitting in civil engineering, sporting goods, instruments etc.

  • The transmission characteristics of multi-channel long period fiber gratings (LPFGs) in terms of the physical parameters like the separation distance, grating length and number of gratings will be discussed. Their transmission characteristics such as channel spacing, number of channels, loss peak depth, and channel bandwidth can be easily controlled by physical parameters. Based on the experimental results, their applications to optical multiwavelength Raman lasers and optical sensors will be investigated. A multiwavelength Raman fiber ring laser with 9 WDM channels with 100 ㎓ spacing and 19 channels with 50 ㎓ spacing using tunable multi-channel LPFGs will be experimentally demonstrated. The fiber-optic sensing applications with high resolution and sensitivity based on multi-channel LPFGs will be also presented.

광섬유센서를 이용한 경부고속철도 터널의 시공중 계측 (Monitoring of Tunnel Structure using Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors)

  • 지금까지 광섬유센서를 활용한 구조물의 모니터링에 대하여 다양하게 연구되어지고 있다. 그러나 현재 광섬유센서는 다루기 어렵다는 문제점을 가지고 있어 실재 현장에 적용하는데 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 광섬유 격자 센서를 고속도로 터널공사의 시공중 계측에 활용하여 시공시 지속적인 모니터링을 시행하여 공사를 안전하게 수행하고, 구조안전성을 지속적으로 확인하였다. 광섬유 격자 센서를 실제의 고속철도 터널공사에 적용하여 터널의 거동을 2년에 걸쳐 측정한 결과를 정리하여 시공 중 터널구조물이 보여주는 데이터를 확인할 수 있도록 하였다.

섬유 보강 혼합토의 워커빌리티 특성 (Workability Characteristics of Fiber Mixed Soil)

  • This study was conducted by the slump test and the consistency test of the fiber mixed soil which is soil reinforced with fiber as a reinforced material to investigate and estimate the difficulty degree of work and the proper water content. So I would like to present the fundamental data that establishes the work standard of the fiber mixed soil. In conclusion, in this study the slump value of the fiber mixed soil increases over-all according to the increase of the water content although it has a little difference of the increase range and it is smaller than one of the soil. It is estimated that the aggregating and throwing work of the fiber mixed soil would be fine when it has the about 25 % water content and the wall and floor plastering work is the about 30 % ~ 35 % and the flowing and pouring work is the about 40 % water content as well as the mold compacting work is the about 20 %. There is no decreasing of the workability when the soil is reinforced by the fiber because the workability characteristics of the fiber mixed soil is similar to the one of the soil. Therefore, It is estimated that using the fiber as a reinforced material of soil would be appropriate for the construction.

  • Kinds, shapes and fraction ratios of fibers have influence on properties of HPFRCC(High-Performance Fiver Reinforced Cementitious Concrete) like bending strength, strain capacity and fracture toughness. For example, hydrophilic fibers have different chemical bond strength from hydrophobic fibers, fiber shapes influence on fiber pull-out and rupture, and fiber volume fraction influence on bending strength. In this study, to estimate influences of kinds, shapes and fraction ratios of fibers, we make HFRCC with 3 kind of fiber in various volume fraction of fiber and compare cracking, bending strength and fracture toughness. As the results, bending strength of HPFRCC was increased as fiber volume fraction was increase and fiber tensile strength was increase, and strain capacity and fracture toughness of HFRCC was higher in fiber pull-out fracture than in fiber rupture fracture. And HFRCC showing pseudo strain hardening has higher fiber reinforce efficiency than others.

그라핀을 포함하는 폴리이미드 멤브레인의 미세조직구조 변화 (Micro-structural Evolutions of Polyimide Composite Films with Graphenes)

  • The polyimide composite membranes were prepared with polyimide composite solutions including graphenes by using the phase inversion method. The morphologies of these membranes were significantly changed according to the graphene loadings in composite solutions and the solvent systems of the composite solutions. The finger-like macro-voids were formed in the hollow fiber membranes which were prepared in the NMP solvent system with a small amount of ethanol. As increasing the content of the viscous alcohols such as glycerol or 1,3-propanediol in the composite solution, however, the morphologies of the hollow fiber membranes were changed to sponge-like types. In case of flat membranes, the increase of graphene content in polyimide composites causes that their membranes change from the finger-like macro-porous to sponge-like morphologies.
