Influence of College Students' Gender and Relationship Status on Their Clothing Purchase Process

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of college students' relationship status on their clothing behavior and purchasing process. The subjects of this study were college students. After a survey, 113 questionnaires were used for the data analysis excluding incomplete ones. Factor analysis, paired t-test, Pearson's correlation, one-way ANOVA, MANOVA and Chi-square test were conducted. The data analysis found that female students had higher levels of clothing interest, and fashion-seeking, impulse buying and individuality-seeking motives than male students. Female students who had boyfriends showed particularly higher levels of fashion-seeking and impulse-buying motives. Throughout the clothing purchase process stages, students were most influenced by girlfriend/boyfriend, especially in the evaluation stage. Students who had girlfriends/boyfriends were significantly more influenced by them. Female students were more influenced by parents at the evaluation stage and their female friends at the information search stage.

모델전공 여대생과 일반 여대생의 신체조성 및 기초체력 비교분석 (Comparative Analysis of Body Composition and Basic Physical Strength between Model Majored Female College Students and General Female College Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 모델전공 여대생과 일반 여대생의 신체조성 및 기초체력을 비교분석 하는데 있다. 본 연구의 취지를 충분히 설명하고 자발적 참여의 동의서를 작성한 D대학교의 모델전공 여대생 15명과 일반 여대생 15명이었으며, 과거병력과 현재 특별한 질환이 없고, 규칙적인 운동경험이 없는 자들로 구성하였다. 이들은 신체조성검사 및 기초체력검사인 좌 우악력, 배근력, 유연성, 순발력, 근지구력을 실시하여 평균 표준편차를 산출하기 위하여 기술통계를 실시하였고, 집단 간 차이 검증은 independent t-test를 이용하여 분석하였다. 통계적 유의수준은 p<.05로 설정하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 모델전공 여대생과 일반 여대생의 체중, 골격근, 체지방량, BMI 및 좌 우악력 및 배근력, 순발력에서 집단 간 유의(p.<05)한 차이를 보였으며, 유연성 및 근지구력은 집단 간 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p>.05).

패션모델과 여대생들의 신체 만족도 비교 연구 (The Body Cathexis Difference Between Fashion Model and College Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate if there were any differences between fashion models and female college students' body cathexis and to examine the perception of their body form and satisfaction of clothing fit according to height, weight and body type. For this study 378 people, including 113 fashion models and 265 female college students were analyzed. Means, t-test and ${\chi}^2$-test were used in data analyses. Significant differences were found between fashion models and female college students' body cathexis. For instance fashion models were more positive about their bodies especially concerning height. Fashion Models and female college students differed significantly in perception of their body form according to weight and body type. Perhaps they have another criteria. Fashion Models and female college students differed significantly in satisfaction of clothing fit according to weight and body type. The taller and Thinner, The higher satisfaction of Clothing fit.

여대생의 '웰빙(Well-Being)' 경험 (Experience of 'Well-being' of Female College Students)

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the meaning of the experience of 'well-being' of female college students in Korea and provide fundamental materials to improve nursing interventions. Methods: The participants were six female students who gave consent to participate in this study. This study was conducted between August 2006 and November 2006. Each interview took one to three hours. The contents of the interviews were recorded and dictated afterwards. In addition, the interviews were carried out such a way that the gathered information was sufficiently saturated. The data was analyzed with the phenomenological analytic method suggested by Giorgi (1985). Results: As a result of analysis, the following have been identified.: proper dietary treatment, proper physical treatment, harmonized psychological treatment, environmental-friendly treatment, and hypersensitivity to the mass media. Conclusions: The finding of this study offers profound information on the 'well-being' of female college students in Korea and provides fundamental materials to improve the quality of nursing interventions.

식품색에 대한 대학생의 기호도에 관한 조사연구 (Examination into Favorable Taste of College Students on Food Colors)

  • This study was conducted to examine the favorable taste of food color for one month of November 1991 With 200 college students consisting 100 male and 100 female students. The color to examine the favorable food was based on Munsell color standard of ten colors such as F. Birren seven colors (red, orange, yellow, yellowish green, green, blue and violet), brown, pink and black. And then, the data of this study was analysed by using frequency(%), mean values, standard deviation, t-test, Chi-square, Spearman correction with SAS Package on the basis of 100% collection and reliable coefficient alpha= .775. The result of this study is summarized as follows. 1. It was shown that the male college students (59%) showed remarkable interest in the food color higher than that of female college students (92%), and that 85% of male students and 97% of female students considered that the food color has an effect on appetite. In addition, the food name having an effect of the food color on appetite appeared in such order as carrot (13.0%), apple (10.9%), spinach (7.0%), cucumber (6.0%) and red pepper (5.6%). The important factor in choosing the favorable food was the taste for both male and female college students, while the male and female students considered the food color as the 4th, respectively, and the 3rd important factor in choosing the favorable food. 2. The favorable food color appeared in order such as orange, red, yellow, yellowish green, green, blue, violet, pink, black and brown colors for the male college students, and in order such as red, orange, yellow, green, yellowish green, brown, violet, black, pink and blue. Also, there was difference between the male and female college students in such colors as brown, yellowish green, blue and pink. It was also shown that there was no relation between the male and female college students in examining the order of favorable food colors and general colors when selecting null hypothesis (ASE: .405). The food name associated with the color was apple for red color, orange for orange color, coffee for brown color, banana for yellow color, lettuce for yellowish green color, spinach for green color, mackerel for blue color, eggplant for violet color, sausage for pink color and bean for black color 3. The favorable color combination of both male and female college students showed red with green, orange with yellow, yellow with green, green with yellow, pink with violet and black with black. In addition, the favorable combination of the male college students indicated brown with black, yellowish green with orange, blue with red and violet with yellow while the female college students did brown with yellow, yellowish green with green, blue with yellow and violet with pink. The favorable combination color showing difference between the male and female college students included orange, brown, violet, pink and black colors. 4. The relation between the food color and terms of favorable taste showed that “light and mild color” is yellow, that “untasty color” is black, that “sourish and puckery color” is orange, that “bitter color” is violet, that “hot color” is red, and that “fresh color” is green which were answered by both male and female college students. However, the male and female college students considered yellow, respectively, and orange as “tasty color”, and black and yellow, respectively, as “sweet color”. Then, the taste term showing difference between male and female college students included “light”, “mild”, “sourish”, “tasty” and “sweet”. Based on the above result of this study, it is apparent that there is a close relation between the food color and appetite while being difference between the general color and taste. In addition to this fact, there is also some differences between male and female college students in the taste of food color.

여대생의 현재 체질량과 이상적 체질량 차이에 따른 자아존중감 (Self-esteem According to Differences between Real and Ideal Body Mass Index in Female College Students)

  • Purpose: To investigate self-esteem according to differences between real and ideal Body Mass Index (BMI) in female college students. Methods: Subjects were 587 female students in Korea. Data was collected by using a developed questionnaire through pretesting. Results: Actual number (46.7%) and actual number (5.1%) of participants were defined as being underweight and overweight, respectively. Nearly all participants expression high dissatisfaction with their body shape. Averages of 1.02, 2.97, 7.81 were revealed for underweight, normal weight and overweight group differences between real and ideal BMI. Those who were defined as overweight exhibited significantly self-esteem than those who were defined as underweight. Conclusions: The belief that body shape is heavier than actually the case may be prevalent among female college students in Korea. This difference between the real and ideal BMI negatively influences self-esteem. Programs aimed at improving body image awareness an self-esteem among female college students are needed.

인터넷 영양교육 참여 대학생의 지역별 식품의 맛과 기호도에 관한 연구 I. 주식 및 부식 (Regional Differences in Taste and Food Preferences of College Students Attending Nutritional Education via Internet I. Main and Side Dishes)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the regional differences in food preference among college students participating in a nutrition education program via internet. The subjects were 1672 college students (male: 762, female: 910) and divided into 4 regional groups. A survey using a self-administered questionnaire was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire on taste and food preferences. Data was collected via internet or by mail. Prevalence of the food preferences among regional groups was examined using SPSS statistical package. Food preferences were significantly associated with sex and region. Female students in Chungcheong and Kyungsang areas showed significantly higher preference of the hot taste compared to Seoul and Kyunggi areas. Female students in Seoul, Kyunggi and Chungcheong areas showed significantly higher preference of the boiled bean rice compared to the Kyungsang area. The preference for Kimchi stew of female students in Seoul and Kyunggi was significantly higher than those in Chungcheong and Kyngsang areas. Male students in the Chungcheong area showed significantly higher Preferences of the Young radish kimchi, while female students in this area showed significantly higher preference of the Radish kimchi compared to other areas. The preference for roasted laver of female students in Seoul, Kyunggi and Kyungsang areas was significantly higher compared to the Chungcheong area. The preference for fried chicken of male students in Seoul was significantly higher than that in other areas. The preference for bean sprouts and season bonnet bellflower of male students in Seoul, Chungcheong and Kyungsang areas were significantly higher compared to the Kyunggi area.   • We investigated 974 male and female students who are in 4th, 5th and 6th year of 8 elementary schools are located win Puan-kun, the farm area of Chollabuk-do, and the results are as follows. 1. Visiting dental clinic in order to be treated for dental caries hold the highest rate as 26.1% of male students and 30.3% of female students. 2. On fear when children visit dental clinic, first, 25.6% of male students and 35.1% of female students mark the highest rate as some what fear. Second, 23.1% of male students represent to be usual and 29.4% of female students represent to be very fear. There fore it speaks for dissimilarity in character between male and female students. 3. On reason of developing dental caries, 62.5% of male students and 55.8% of female students replied that it was developed because they frequently ate the sweet things. 4. Children who pull out decidous teeth alone mark the highest rate as 44.7% of male students and 38.6% of female students. 5. On important thing for ordinary dental health, 56.2% of male students and 58.5% of female students as the highest rate replied that they often brushed their teeth.

여대생들의 돈에 대한 태도와 경험 : 한국, 일본 및 한국계, 일본계 미국 여대생 비교 (Money Beliefs and Behaviors and Experiences of Female College Students; A Comparison of Korean, Japanese, Korean-and Japanese-American Students)

  • This paper compared the money beliefs and behaviors and the experiences of four different groups of female college students using furnham's(1984) money Beliefs and Behaviors (MBBS) scale. These four groups were Korean, Japanese, Korean-American, and Japanese American. Two hundreds of female college students were surveyed. Results from an exploratory factor analysis of the MBBS indicate the four factors: Obsession, Power, Anxiety, and Budget. There were significant differences in factors of the money beliefs and behaviors and the selected variables of the money experiences among compared four groups.

C.M.I.에 의한 일부대학생(一部大學生)들의 건강상태(健康狀態)에 관(關)한 조사연구 ("A Study on the Health Status of College Students by Cornell Medical Index")

  • To evaluate the college students' health status, the author distributed C.M.I. to 233 college students consisting of 102 males and 131 females who randomly selected from a college in seoul. The conclusion are as follow: 1. The mean of CMI scores for the male students was 32.84 and that for the female students was 43.25. Statistical significant difference was observed between the mean of CMI scores for male students and that for female students. 2. For male students, The CMI mean scores for the day students was 29.46 and for evening students was 35.85. There was no statistical significant difference the day students and that for the evening students. 3. For female students, the mean of CMI scores for day students was 42.40 and that for the evening students was 44.64. But there was no statistical significant difference between the mean CMI scores for the day students and that for the evening students. 4. In both female and male groups, the affirmative response rate of inadequacy, fatigability and eyes and ears are higher than any of the other items. 5. In comparing the CMI items of male students and female students, the significant differences cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system, skin, nervous system, genitourinary system, fatigability, habits, inadequacy, depression and tension. The mean scores for female students, with the exception of habits, were higher than those for male students. 6. In comparing the CMI items of male day students and male evening students, there was significant difference in the items of the cardiovascular system, digestive tract, skin, genitourinary system, inadequacy, and anger : the mean scores of evening male students were higher than those of day students. 7. In the case of female students, the CMI mean scores of the evening students in the categories eyes and ears, cardiovascular system, digestive tract, musculoskeletal system, skin, genitourinary system, fatigability, inadequacy, depression, anxiety, and sensitivity were higher scores than those of the day students. However, the were no significant difference between both groups except in the cathgory of habits. 8. The frequency rate of neurotic students, who were identified by fukamachi's classification, were 12.5% in the day male students, 18.6% in th evening male students, 13.6% in the day female students, and 18.0% in the evening female students.
