This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Platycodi radix Saponin(PRS) on the reduction of lipid status in rats fed on high fat diet for 6 weeks after which lipid contents were measured in serum , liver and feces. The results obtained from this study are as follows : That the levels of total lipid, total cholesterol and triglyceride in serum and liver were significantly lower in the PRS group as compared with the control group. The contents of total lipid and total cholesterol excreted in the feces were tended to be slightly increase in PRS group compared to the control group, which were not significant.
This study was designed to obseve the effect of defatted perilla as a dietary fiber on lipid components of serum feces and liver in rats. Serum cholesterol and triglyceride were signfican-ly decreased in defatty perilla added groups. total lipid cholesterol and triglyceride of feces were significantly increased in defatted perilla added groups. Liver phospholipid content was higher in the defatted perilla added groups. The other lipid components of the liver were not affected by the defatted perilla administration. These results suggest the possibitlity that defatted perilla have a reducing effect of serum cholesterol and triglyceride through the incre-ment of feacal excretion of lipid component and phospholipid in liver.
Amygdalin is a cyanogenic glycoside which is commonly found in almonds, bamboo shoots, and apri-cot kernels, and peach kernels. Amygdalin was first hydrolysed into prunasin, then degraded into cyanohydrin by sequential two-stage mechanism. The objective of this study was to examine the amygdalin decomposition and cyanide formation at various in vitro conditions, including acid, enzyme and anaerobic microbes (AM) in human feces (HF). In acid hydrolysis mimicking gastric environment, amygdalin was degraded to cyanide up to 0.2% in specific pH. In contrast, enzyme assay showed higher cyanide generation either by ${\beta}$-glucosidase, or by incubation with microbe. In conclusion, we are convinced of cyanide generation are occurred mainly by microbiological activities of the gut flora up to 41.53%. After ingestion with some staff, the degree and site of degradation in an organism is a key parst of regulatory decision making of that staff.

Two pairs of DNA primers were designed for the detection of the Zhenjiang (China) strain of Bombyx mori densonucleosis virus (BmDNV-Z). These primers were designed from the nucleotide sequence of major structural protein gene (putative VD1-ORF2). PCR amplification was attempted from different issues (including silk gland, blood, skin and midgut) and feces of the silkworm which infected wit BmDNV-Z were amplified by PCR. Both of the primers gave expected size of in the DNA bands from midgut and feces, but not in the DNA of silk gland, blood and skin. The two bands were sequenced, and their sequence were same as the sequence designed for. BmDNV-Z could be successfully detected in single silkworm after it was infected for 12 hrs, and could not be detected before 9 hrs after infected.
This study was designed to investigate calcium intake, calcium excretion, and calcium absorption rate of the college women in Korea. The subjects of this experiment were five healthy college women aged from 18 to 23 years who lived in Seoul. The period of this experiment was two weeks, the first week was spent in having an ordinary diet and the next week for the experimental diet. Two weeks later, the feces of subjects were collected. Results obtained by the present experiment were as follows: 1) The total food intake from the experimental diet daily was about $1600{\sim}2000g$. 2) The total calcium intake was about $270{\sim}585mg$ and $710{\sim}880mg$ for the ordinary diet and the experimental diet respectively. 3) The daily calcium excretion of feces was about $219{\sim}295mg$. 4) The calcium absorption rate of subjects was about $60{\sim}70%$.
I investigated the processing-treatment of livestocks feces and body wastes in Tok- ushima prefecture, and made clear the problems relative to its influence to environments. Nowadays the load of pollution of the m is as following. COD P livestock 8.8% 38.5% body wastes 1,2 4.5 As for the livestock feces, the method of evaporation-permeation is more general than that of oxidation process because of costs. Another way is that the dung will be changed into the compost. However as these methods pollute environments remarkably, a large-scale digesting process is being planned. In case of the processing of body wastes, costs for the processing plant tend to increase to the highest level in accordance with the strong power inhabitants. In all processing, we suffer from a large amount of economical loads.
Electroacupuncture therapy was performed in 2 dogs with thoracolumbar disc disease. Case was a 3-year-old female chihuahua with a calcified disc between the 13th thoracic and 1st lumbar vertebrae. Treatment was done by electroacupuncture at San sho yu, Shen yu, Huan tiao and Fu yang-San yin jiao with the current of 0.5~8 volts, 30 Hz for 30 min. She could pass feces and urine 2 days, and walk 9 days after the beginning of the therapy. Case 2 Was a 6-year-old male cocker spaniel with 4 calcified discs(T12-T13, T13-L1, L2-L3 and L6-L7) and spondylosis(lumbosacral junction). Treatment was done by electroacupuncture at Tian ping, Bai hui and Pung kung yu with the current of 2~4 volts, 30 Hz for 20 min. He could pass feces 6 days, urine 8 days, and stand 21 days, after the beginning of the therapy.
Objectives: Excretion and tissue distribution of titanium oxide nanoparticles were evaluated in rats after oral administration. The relation between toxicity and systemic concentration of nanoparaticles was investigated. Methods: Rats were orally treated with titanium oxide nanoparticles (10, 100 mg/kg) for five consecutive days. General toxicity, blood chemistry, and serum biochemical analysis were analyzed. Titanium concentration in liver, kidney, lung, urine and feces were measured and histopathology was performed in these organs. Results: Induction of toxicological parameters was not observed and titanium nanoparticles were excreted via feces. Conclusion: Absorption of titanium oxide nanoparticles via the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration was very poor and systemic concentration of titanium oxide nanoparticles was not elevated. Titanium oxide nanoparticles did not cause toxicities in rats after oral administration.
Fecal malodor is an acute environmental issue to be solved for the intensive animal agriculture in Japan. Among these substances volatile sulfur such as hydrogen sulfide (HS), methanethiol, and dimethyl sulfide, and dimethyl disulfide are the ones most strictly controlled in the Japanese national regulations. In this experiment, we have screened a range of standard strains of chemoheterotrophic bacteria and of the presently isolated soil bacteria for their capacity to decompose HS. We have demonstrated that Comamonas testosteroni $JCM5832^T$ and our isolate Bacillus sp. had a potential to reduce malodor when applied to the pig feces.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of nondigestable substances and calcium such as oligosaccharide, agar, saponin, tannin and calcium on the reduction of lipid status in rats fed high fat diet. In order to make the observation, the lipid content in plasma, liver and the feces, and bile acid excretion were measured of r 4 weeks. the results obtained from this research are as follows. Concentration of total lipid in plasma seemed highest in the control group and were significantly lower in groups oil-gosaccharide, agar and calcium-tannin, compared to the control group. Concentration of total cholesterol in plasma was significantly lower in groups oligosaccharide, agar, calcium and calcium-saponin, compared to the control group. The improvement in lipid status seems to be insignificant with oligosaccharide, showed increase in total bile acids excretion in feces and decrease in total cholesterol in plasma, compared to the control group. These evidence seems to indicate improvement of the plasma lipid status by calcium and agar supplementation.
