  • In this paper, we propose a real-time face detection, tracking and tilted face image correction system using multi-color model and face feature information. In the proposed system, we detect face candidate using YCbCr and YIQ color model. And also, we detect face using vertical and horizontal projection method and track people's face using Hausdorff matching method. And also, we correct tilted face with the correction of tilted eye features. The experiments have been performed for 110 test images and shows good performance. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm robust to detection and tracking of face at real-time with the change of exterior condition and recognition of tilted face. Accordingly face detection and tilted face correction rate displayed 92.27% and 92.70% respectively and proposed algorithm shows 90.0% successive recognition rate.

  • In this paper, the interesting moving objects tracking algorithm using color information on Multi-Video camera against variance of intensity, shape and background is proposed. Moving objects are detected by using difference image method and integral projection method to background image and objects image only with hue area, after converting RGB color coordination of image which is input from multi-video camera into HSI color coordination. Hue information of the detected moving area are segmented to 24 levels from $0^{\circ}$ to $360^{\circ}$. It is used to the feature parameter of the moving objects that are three segmented hue levels with the highest distribution and difference among three segmented hue levels. To examine propriety of the proposed method, human images with variance of intensity and shape and human images with variance of intensity, shape and background are targeted for moving objects. As surveillance results of the interesting human, hue distribution level variation of the detected interesting human at each camera is under 2 level, and it is confirmed that the interesting human is tracked and surveilled by using feature parameters at cameras, automatically.

  • This Paper describes a fast and stable camera pose estimation method for real-time augmented reality systems. From the feature tracking results of a marker on a single frame, we estimate the camera rotation matrix and the translation vector. For the camera pose estimation, we use the shape factorization method based on the scaled orthographic Projection model. In the scaled orthographic factorization method, all feature points of an object are assumed roughly at the same distance from the camera, which means the selected reference point and the object shape affect the accuracy of the estimation. This paper proposes a flexible and stable selection method for the reference point. Based on the proposed method, we implemented a video augmentation system that inserts virtual 3D objects into the input video frames. Experimental results showed that the proposed camera pose estimation method is fast and robust relative to the previous methods and it is applicable to various augmented reality applications.

  • Shadow is a common phenomenon observed in natural scenes, but it has a negative influence on image analysis such as object recognition, feature detection and scene analysis. Therefore, the process of detecting and removing shadows included in digital images must be considered as a pre-processing process of image analysis. In this paper, the existing methods for acquiring 1D invariant images, one of the feature elements for detecting and removing shadows contained in a single natural image, are described, and a method for obtaining 1D invariant images based on linear regression has been proposed. The proposed method calculates the log of the band-ratio between each channel of the RGB color image, and obtains the grayscale image line by linear regression. The final 1D invariant images were obtained by projecting the log image of the band-ratio onto the estimated grayscale image line. Experimental results show that the proposed method has lower computational complexity than the existing projection method using entropy minimization, and shadow detection and removal based on 1D invariant images are performed effectively.

  • This paper proposes the new method which is adopted in extracting character features and recognizing characters using fractal dimension of the Chaos theory which highly recolonizes a minute difference with strange attractor created from Henon system. This paper implements a high precision character recognition system. firstly, it gets features of mesh, projection and cross distance feature from character images. And their feature is converted into data of time series. Then using modified Henon system suggested in this paper, each characters attractor about standard Korean Character, KSC 5601 is reconstructed. Secondly, in order to analyze the Chaotic degree of each characters attractor, it gets last features of character image after calculating box-counting Dimension, Natural Measure, Information Bit, Information Dimension which are meant fractal dimension. An experimental result shows 97.49% character classification rates for 2350 Korean characters using proposed method in this paper.

  • An experimental study of the femtosecond laser machining of Si materials was carried out. Direct laser machining of the materials for the feature size of a few micron scale has the advantage of low cost and simple process comparing to the semiconductor process, E-beam lithography, ECM and other machining process. Further, the femtosecond laser is the better tool to machine the micro parts due to its characteristics of minimizing the heat affected zone(HAZ). As a result of line cutting of Si, the optimal condition had the region of the effective energy of 2mJ/mm-2.5mJ/mm with the power of 0.5mW-1.5mW. The polarization effects of the incident beam existed in the machining qualities, therefore the sample motion should be perpendicular to the projection of the electric vector. We also observed the periodic ripple patterns which come out in condition of the pulse overlap with the threshold energy. Finally, we could machined the groove with the linewidth of below $2{\mu}m$ for the application of MEMS device repairing, scribing and arbitrary patterning.

  • This paper presents an algorithm to acquire 3D geometric information using a virtual plane method. The method to measure 3D information on the plane is easy, because it's not concerning value on the z-axis. A plane can be made by arbitrary three points in the 3D space, so the algorithm is able to make a number of virtual planes from feature points on the target object. In this case, these geometric relations between the origin of each virtual plane and the origin of the target object coordinates should be expressed as known homogeneous matrices. To include this idea, the algorithm could induce simple matrix formula which is only concerning unknown geometric relation between the origin of target object and the origin of camera coordinates. Therefore, it's more fast and simple than other methods. For achieving the proposed method, a regular pin-hole camera model and a perspective projection matrix which is defined by a geometric relation between each coordinate system is used. In the final part of this paper, we demonstrate the techniques for a variety of applications, including measurements in industrial parts and known patches images.

  • A simple computer vision technology to measure the middle-ranged depth with a mono camera and a plain mirror is proposed. The proposed system is structured with the rotating mirror in front of the fixed mono camera. In contrast to the previous stereo vision system in which the disparity of the closer object is larger than that of the distant object, the pixel movement caused by the rotating mirror is bigger for the pixels of the distant object in the proposed system. Being inspired by such distinguished feature in the proposed system, the principle of the depth measurement based on the relation of the pixel movement and the distance of object is investigated. Also, the factors to influence the precision of the measurement are analysed. The benefits of the proposed system are low price and less chance of occlusion. The robustness for practical usage is an additional benefit of the proposed vision system.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm for initializing a target vehicle detection, tracking the vehicle and estimating the distance from it on the stereo images acquired from a forward-looking stereo camera mounted on a road driving vehicle. The process of vehicle detection extracts road region using lane recognition and searches vehicle feature from road region. The distance of tracking vehicle is estimated by TSS correlogram matching from stereo Images. Through the simulation, this paper shows that the proposed method segments, matches and tracks vehicles robustly from image sequences obtained by moving stereo camera.

  • One of the representative methods of optical flow is a gradient method which estimates the movement of an object based on the differential of image brightness. However, the method is ineffective for large displacement of the object and many improved methods have been proposed to copy with such limitations. One of these improved techniques is the multigrid processing, which is used in many optical flow algorithms. As an alternative novel technique we have been proposing an orthogonal functional expansion method, where whole displacements are expanded from low frequency terms. This method is expected to be applicable to flow estimation with large displacement and deformation including expansion and contraction, which are difficult to cope with by conventional optical flow methods. In the orthogonal functional expansion method, the apparent displacement field is calculated iteratively by a projection method which utilizes derivatives of the invariant constraint equations of brightness constancy. One feature of this method is that differentiation of the input image is not necessary, thereby reducing sensitivity to noise. In this paper, we apply our method to several real images in which the objects undergo large displacement and/or deformation including expansion. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the orthogonal functional expansion method by comparing with conventional methods including our optimally scaled multigrid optical flow algorithm.
