자전거 프레임의 소재 및 종류에 따른 피로특성 (Fatigue Characteristics of Bicycle Frames Depending on Types and Materials)

  • Bicycles are very popular sporting goods in these days. Thus, the durability of bicycles is very important for the safety of bicyclists. It is well known that a bicycle frame is a major component which is essential to the safety and performance of a complete bicycle. In this study, the durability of bicycle frames were experimentally investigated under the fatigue load. Eighty bicycle frames with different types and materials were prepared and tested according to EN standards. Three kinds of fatigue loads, that is, pedalling, vertical and horizontal fatigue load, which occur constantly during riding a bicycle, were applied to the bicycle frames. The experimental results show that the horizontal fatigue load was the severest mode to pass EN standard. The pass ratio of horizontal fatigue load test was 45.2%, while the pass ratio of vertical fatigue load test was 100%. Most of cracks were found at the right side of bottom bracket shell and at the intersection area between head tube and down tube. It seems that the experimental results can be applied to improve the safety and performance of a bicycle frame.

  • Al-Cu-Mn 주조합금의 피로성질에 미치는 Cd 첨가의 영향을 저주기 및 고주기 피로시험을 통하여 조사하였다. Cd 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 피로수명이 증가하였으며, 인장강도도 증가하였다. 고주기 피로시험결과 피로강도는 115MPa이었으며 피로비는 0.31이었다. 피로시험 결과 균열이 표면에서 발생하여 입계를 따라 전파되었는데 이러한 입계파괴는 입계를 따라 존재하는 무석출대의 영향으로 생각된다. 인장강도값은 Cd이 첨가되지 않았을 경우 330MPa이었으나 0.15%의 Cd이 첨가됨으로써 401MPa 까지 증가되었다.

Al-Cu-Mu 주조합금의 피로성질에 미치는 Sn 첨가의 영향 (Effect of Sn Addition on the Fatigue Properties of Al-Cu-Mn Cast Alloy)

  • Effect of Sn addition on the fatigue properties of Al-Cu-Mn cast alloy was investigated by low and high cycle fatigue tests. Fatigue life showed the maximum value of 5450cycles in the Al-Cu-Mn alloy containing 0.10%Sn, but decreased rapidly beyond 0.20% of Sn additions. It was found that the fatigue strength was 132MPa and fatigue ratio was 0.31 in the alloy containing 0.10%Sn. Metallographic observation revealed that the fatigue crack initiated at the surface and propagated along the grain boundary. This propagation path was attributed to the presence of PFZ along the grain boundary. The tensile strength increased from 330MPa in 7he Sn-free Al-Cu-Mn cast alloy to 429MPa in the alloy containing 0.10%Sn. But above 0.20%Sn additions, tensile strength was decreased by the segregation of Sn.

콘크리트 포장 피로실험 데이터의 쪼갬인장 피로특성 (Split Tension Fatigue Characteristics Analysis of Fatigue Tests Data for Concrete Pavements)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the fatigue test data of pavement concrete. The static strength tests were carried out to check the compressive strength, flexural strength, and split tension strength at 56 days in order to minimize strength variation effect during test. The specimens were fabricated at twelves sections at a construction site of highway. The stress level and stress ratio of fatigue test were determined from static test results. The results are as follow: The flexural strength at 28 days mostly satisfied the criterion for design, but the compressive strength at 28 days were slightly below the criterion even though it satisfied at 56 days. The fatigue limit was 2 million cycles if the specimen was not failed to that cycles. The S-N curves were developed from the fatigue test results at each stress levels and each stress ratio. Then, the fatigue life of pavement concrete at a given stress level and fatigue strength of pavement concrete could be derived from these curves. Analysis using method No.2 was more acceptable because resulting of comparison and analysis using method No.2 was presented 2 sections were presented $R^2$ < 0.7, and other 2 sections were presented 0.7 < $R^2$ < 0.8, and the others 8 sections were $R^2{\geq}0.8$.

  • In this paper, fatigue tests were carried out at stress test levels of 461 MPa, 441 MPa, and 431 MPa by using smooth specimen of$2_{1/4}$ Cr-1 Mo steel with the stress ratio(R) of 0.05. The initiation, growth and coalescense process of the major cracks and sub-cracks among the fatigue cracks on the smooth specimen are investigated and measured under each stress level at a constant cycle ratio by the replica technique with optical microscope. Some of the important results are as follows: In spite of the difference of stress levels, the major crack data gather into a small band in the curve of surface crack length and crack depth against cycle ratio N/Nf. The sub-crack data, however, deviate from the band of the major crack. The growth rates, da/dN, of major and sub-crack plotted against the stress intensity factor range, ${\Delta}K$, have the tendency to be compressed on a relatively small band. But it is more effective to predict fatigue life through major cracks. The propagation behavior of surface microcracks on the smooth specimens coincides with that of the specimen having an artificial small surface defect or through crack.

6061알루미늄의 피로 균열 성장과 관통에 따른 탄성파의 응력비 영향 (Influence of Stress Ratio of Elastic Waves Generated by Fatigue Crack Growth and Penetration in 6061 Aluminum Plates)

  • The characteristics of elastic waves emanating from crack initiation and propagation in 6061 aluminum alloy subjected to fatigue loading with different stress ratio was investigated. The objective of this study is to determine the properties of the signals generated from each stage of fatigue crack growth. AS a crack propagates, substantial elastic wave occurred just prior to penetration. Then it decreased and the crack penetrated. The waveforms and their power spectra were found to be dependent on the different stress ratio associated with the signals. It is determined that high-frequency signal $0.5{\sim}0.75$ MHz is most likely emitted during crack propagation at peak load of fatigue cycle which release the highest energy. It is determined that 0.3 MHz is closely related to crack closure effect. The frequency peaks below 0.25 MHz may be attributed to fretting or hydraulic noise.

  • 본 연구에서는 보통강재인 SS 41 강을 열처리하여 얻은 M.E.F.복합조직강의 모상입경변화와 3.5% NaCl수용액의 pH변화 조건하에서 반복굽힘피로실험을 하여 부식 피로파괴에 미치는 영향에 대해 고찰하였다.

  • The objetive of this study is to compare the mechanical proprties of 6000 series Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy (AC120) with 5000 series Al-Mg aluminum alloy (TG25), and to investigate the influence of corrosion solution for fatigue life. Comparing of TG25 and AC120 alloy sheets, TG25 alloy sheets showing higher plastic ratio and total elongation have better formability than AC120 alloy sheets. The hardness of nugget area was a little higher than that of base metal area. Also, grain coarsening was observed in HAZ(Heat Affected Zone). In a corrosion fatigue experiment, the fatigue life decreased as concentration increased, when a dipping time was constant. The life decreased as dippling time increased, when a concentration was constant.

  • 본 연구에서는 가공경화지수 (n)가 서로 다른 몇가지 재료를 선택하고 과대하 중의 비 (%PL)를 달리하는 단일 과대하중 피로 시험을 행하여 재료의 가공경화지수가 피로 균열 진파의 지연거동에 미치는 영향과 아울러 균열닫힘현상과의 관계를 구명하였다.

  • Not only difference of fatigue crack growth and propagation behavior resulted from the grain size, the hardness ratio and volume fraction in M.E.F. dual phase steel composed of martensite in hard phase and ferrite in soft phase, but also the effects of the plastic constraint were investigated by fracture mechanics and microstructural method. The main results obtained are as follows: 1) The fatigue endurance of M.E.F. steel increases with decreasing the grain size, increasing the ratio of hardness and volume fraction. 2) The initiation of slip and crack occures faster as the stress level goes higher. These phenomena result from the plastic constraint effect of the second phase. 3) The crack propagation rate in the constant stress level is faster as the grain size gets larger, the ratio of hardness lower and volume fraction smaller.
