강한 전단 해류 환경에서 동적 전력케이블의 VIV 피로해석 절차에 관한 기초 연구 (A Fundamental Study of VIV Fatigue Analysis Procedure for Dynamic Power Cables Subjected to Severely Sheared Currents)

  • The subsea power cables are increasingly important for harvesting renewable energies as we develop offshore wind farms located at a long distance from shore. Particularly, the continuous flexural motion of inter-array dynamic power cable of floating offshore wind turbine causes tremendous fatigue damages on the cable. As the subsea power cable consists of the helical structures with various components unlike a mooring line and a steel pipe riser, the fatigue analysis of the cables should be performed using special procedures that consider stick/slip phenomenon. This phenomenon occurs between inner helically wound components when they are tensioned or compressed by environmental loads and the floater motions. In particular, Vortex-induced vibration (VIV) can be generated by currents and have significant impacts on the fatigue life of the cable. In this study, the procedure for VIV fatigue analysis of the dynamic power cable has been established. Additionally, the respective roles of programs employed and required inputs and outputs are explained in detail. Demonstrations of case studies are provided under severely sheared currents to investigate the influences on amplitude variations of dynamic power cables caused by the excitation of high mode numbers. Finally, sensitivity studies have been performed to compare dynamic cable design parameters, specifically, structural damping ratio, higher order harmonics, and lift coefficients tables. In the future, one of the fundamental assumptions to assess the VIV response will be examined in detail, namely a narrow-banded Gaussian process derived from the VIV amplitudes. Although this approach is consistent with current industry standards, the level of consistency and the potential errors between the Gaussian process and the fatigue damage generated from deterministic time-domain results are to be confirmed to verify VIV fatigue analysis procedure for slender marine structures.

피로수명해석에 의한 지게차용 후차축 주물빔 설계 (Steeraxle Casting Beam Design of Forklift Truck by Fatigue Life Analysis)

  • The design process for obtaining the reliable steeraxle casting beam of fork lift truck is studied in this paper, as the casting beam is major component of steeraxle which has a steering function at driving. In this study, the driving mode and damage pattern of casting beam which could be occurred from the customer site were analyzed and it established the design process to predict the fatigue life by FEA(Finite Element Analysis) so that the reliability of steeraxle casting beam could be verified at DVT(Design Validation Test) mode. This paper provides guidance on the process of designing the reliable steeraxle casting beam at the initial design stage and also, provides guidance on the process of solving the problem when the failure is occurred in the field.

유아교사의 근골격계 작업부담과 직무 스트레스 (Musculoskeletal Workload and Job Stress in Early Childcare Teachers)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to determine the association between musculoskeletal workload and job stress in early childcare teachers. Methods : This study was based on The Korean Working Condition Survey conducted on wage workers. The total number of individuals included in the analysis was 395 (286 childcare teachers and 109 kindergarten teachers) early childcare teachers in 2011. The collected data were analyzed by frequency statistic, cross-tabulation analysis and logistic regression. Results : The adjusted odds ratio showed a statistically effective association for job stress exposure. The results were as follows: education level, service environment, emotional labor, fatigue or posture led to pain for a high level of job stress. Additionally, for childcare teachers, the results showed that fatigue or posture led to pain when moving a heavy object frequently. Conclusions : When childcare teachers are assigned a task to lift heavy or awkward or objects, care should be taken on who is assigned the task, and it should be done safely. An intervention program should be developed to train childcare teachers to safely and efficiency do heavy labor in early childcare education classes.

119 구급대원 구급활동의 근골격계 증상 및 위험실태 (A Survey of Musculoskeletal Symptoms & Risk Factors for the 119 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Activities)

  • Fire service personnel and ambulance paramedics suffer musculoskeletal disorders as they lift and carry patients while performing Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The objective of the current study was performed to examine the association between working environment and musculoskeletal disorders of 119 paramedics and to analysis the EMS activities for them through basic survey (including task characteristics, risk factors, symptoms and illnesses). Observational job analysis of EMS activities indicated the squatting posture during first-aid performed on floor and the abrupt use of force during carrying heavy load including stretcher with patients on as hazard factors, and excessive low back twisting and bending during stairway transfer was observed. In addition, work-physiological assessment revealed various but rather high lumbar muscle usage rate among the study subjects, being 14.6~32.8% compared with Maximum Voluntary Contraction (MVC) during patients transfer work. Resting heart rate showed 65/min, on the other hand, heart rate on mobilization indicated maximum 124~156/min. Therefore, the results of analysis to the EMS activities, rescuer activities and medical tasks were accompanied with high possibility of accident and musculoskeletal disorders. Also, EMS activities indicated high muscle fatigue and energy consumption, and accumulated muscle fatigue with during continued work.

투석환자의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향요인 분석 (A Study on factors Affecting Quality of Life in Patients on Dialysis)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify stress, fatigue, and self efficacy in patients on dialysis and identify their effect on quality of life. Method: The participants (n=149) who agreed to participate in the research were selected from among those who were on dialysis treatment at C University Medical Centers in Seoul and Inchon, and at C University Medical Center in Jeju. The data were collected from July, 2001 to March, 2002 using interviews. Data analysis was done with t-test, ANOVA, and multiple stepwise regression using the SAS program. Result: Quality of life was significantly different according to economic status, and type of dialysis. Quality of life for the group with higher economic status was better than for the group with lower economic status, and the group on peritoneal dialysis had higher quality of lift scores than the group on hemodialysis. As for self-efficacy, there were significant difference according to duration of disease, type of dialysis, and duration of dialysis. Stress was significantly different according to marital status. Quality of life was significantly predicted by stress (40.02%) and fatigue (3.85%). Conclusion: To improve quality of life for people on dialysis, their stress should be treated positively, also multi-dimensional nursing interventions to provide emotional support and nursing interventions to diminish fatigue are required.

비대칭무게중심 물체의 동적 들기 작업시 좌.우 허리 근육의 EMG 진폭차이와 피로를 줄이기 위한 자세 연구 (Strategical Postures for Relieving EMG Amplitude Discrepancy on Bilateral Low Back Muscles and Total Low Back Muscle Fatigue while Lifting Asymmetric Load Dynamically)

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest the strategical lifting postures able to alleviate imbalanced EMG amplitude leading to an increase in low back muscle fatigue while lifting asymmetric load dynamically. Eleven male subjects are required to lift symmetrically an external load with 15.8kg and load center of gravity (LCG) deviated 10cm to the right from the floor to the waist height at the speed of about 25cm/sec. The EMG amplitudes on bilateral low back muscles (Longissimus, Iliocostalis, and Multifidus) are recorded during 2sec and analyzed. Independent variables are trunk postures (No bending vs. Bending to the LCG) and feet placements (Parallel vs. Right foot in front of the other vs. Right foot behind the other). Dependent variables are EMG amplitude average on six muscles and the EMG amplitude difference between right and left muscle group. Results indicate the phenomenon showing an amplitude increase in the left muscle group is equal to an decrease in the right one is observed in dynamic as well as static lifts, bending the trunk to the LCG increases amplitude discrepancy more than no trunk bending, and the amplitude discrepancy in one foot ipsilateral to LCG in front of the other foot is lowest among other foot postures. As bilateral EMG amplitude discrepancy increases total low back muscle fatigue, the strategical combination of no trunk bending and one foot close to LCG in front of the other is recommended for preventing elevated incidence of low back pain (LBP).

중증 장애인을 위한 생활환경 제어장치개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of ECS for Severly Handicaped)

  • 본 논문은 음성기반 생활환경 제어장치 (Enviropmet Control System: ECS)의 개발과 적용에 대해 다룬다. 구체적으로 개발 내용은 음성인식을 통한 생활환경의 제어 장치와 음성 지원 이동형 휠체어 리프트 제어장치를 구현하였다. 구현된 시스템은 경수 손상 사지마비 환자에게 적용되었고 활용의 문제점과 장치의 사용이 장애인 및 가족에게 미치는 신체적 정신적 영향을 평가 고찰하였다. 음성 인식 시스템은 HMM기반 실시간 음성 인식 시스템을 구성하였고 임상의 적용을 평가하기 위하여 가전 기구를 제어하도록 간략화된 음성인식 모듈을 구현하여 54세 남자로 완전 제 4 경수 손상인을 대상으로 1주간 관찰하였다. 그리고 설문 조사를 통하여 Beck 우울 척도와 오락 및 사회적 관계성의 변화를 평가하였다. 또한 음성 지원 이동형 휠체어 리프트의 전동기 구동 제어 장치를 개발하고 구조 역학 해석을 통해 기계적 안정성을 평가하고 시제품을 제작 성능 시험을 하였다. 시스템의 실험 결과 95%이상의 인식률을 나타내었다. 설문조사 결과 장애인의 장치에 대한 만족도는 높은 편이고 간호의존도와 사회적 관계성의 증진을 확인할 수 있었다. 이에 더불어 간병인의 부담과 우울 경향의 감소가 있었다. 또한 음성 지원 이동형 휠체어 리프트는 구조 해석 결과, 상단 휠체어 바퀴 지지대의 재료로서의 피로 수명이 우수하고 무게 중심 이동이 안정성을 가짐을 확인하였다. 본 논문은 실시간 음성 인식 시스템과 이동형 휠체어 리프트를 이용한 장애자를 위한 생활환경 제어장치 구성의 한 예를 제시하였고, 실험을 통하여 실시간 음성인식의 중요한 활용 분야인 재활 의학 분야에서 한국형 생활환경 제어장치의 개발의 필요성을 확인하였으며 상용화를 모색의 발판이 될 것이다.

  • This study is to develop a 1kW-class small wind turbine blade which will be applicable to relatively low speed regions. For this blade, a high efficiency wind turbine blade is designed and a light and low cost composite structure blade is adopted considering fatigue life. In this study, shape design of 1kW-class small wind turbine blade for hybrid power generation system is carried out by BEMT(blade element momentum theory). X-FOIL open software was used to acquire lift and drag coefficients of the 2D airfoils used in power prediction procedure. Moreover, pressure and velocity distributions are investigated according to TSR by CFD analysis.

Application of a NDI Method Using Magneto-Optical Film for Micro-Cracks

  • Leakage magnetic flux is occurred in the cracked area of magnetized specimens, and also it changes the magnetic domain area of the magneto-optical film positioned on the specimen. It causes the change of the optical permeability of the magnetic domain on the crack area. So crack images can be obtained easily using this principle. On the other hand, utilizing a laser in this method makes possible to perform a remote sensing by detecting the light intensity contrast between cracked area and normal area. This paper shows the application of non-destructive inspection system taking advantage of magneto-optical method for micro-cracks and presents examples applied to the several types of specimens having fatigue cracks and fabricated cracks using this method. Also the authors prove the possibility of this method as a remote sensing system under the oscillation load considering application to real fields.

석유화학 플랜트 배관계의 응력 및 진동 평가와 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on Stress and Vibration Evaluations and Application of Piping System in Petrochemical Plant)

  • Here are shown on stress and vibration evaluations and application of piping system in petrochemical plant with and actual example. While stress evaluation by thermal growth has no argument on the calculated results, vibrational evaluations have some different results in accordance with the evaluation methods. In case of the static stress evaluation the ASME B3l.3 code defines 7000 cycles of fatigue lift: in operating the piping system with a design condition. However, the method of vibrational evaluation on piping systems in petrochemical plants has not been established clearly, yet. In this stuffy, it is purposed to present the requirement of a vibrational evaluation method for petrochemical plant piping system, with an actual application.
