This paper investigated materialism inclination of the parents recognized by the adolescents and analysed the relationships between 5 categorized types about parents' materialism inclination and financial characteristics of the adolescents. Statistical analysis was achieved by using Cronbach'$\alpha$, paired t-test, one-way ANOVA, two-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, chi-square analysis, and Ward' hierarchical cluster analysis with a total of 801 questionnaires. The results are summarized as follows: First, the adolescents felt that calculated points of father and mother's materialism inclination were lower than median points and mother's inclination for materialism was higher than that of father. Second, five categories were classified according to materialism inclination of parents. First classified category was the type which showed both parents had little interest in materials and the second category was the type which father had strong interest in materials. The third one was the type which mother had strong interest in materials. The last two categories were the ones which both parents had much interest in materials. Final result of this study revealed that attitudes of the adolescents for materialism and money were higher for those whose parents had strong interest in materialism than those whose parents had little materialism interest. They showed not only the behaviors of impulsive and overspending consumption but also low financial satisfaction and high financial stress.
The purpose of this study was to examine the difference of the father's and mother's reactions to their children's negative emotions, relations among the children's variables, parent's variables, and parent's reactions. The subjects selected were 183 mothers and 183 fathers with children aged three to five-years-old, from a childcare center and kindergarten in Kwang-ju. Parental emotion-related practices regarding children's negative emotions were assessed with an adaptation of the CCNES(Fabes et al, 1990) that was modified by Kim Hee-Jung(1994). Descriptives, Pearson's correlation coefficient, were used for data analysis by using the SPSS 15.0 program. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, fathers and mothers used more positive reactions than negative reactions when their children showed negative emotions. The mothers were significantly higher than fathers on encouragement of expression, punitive, and distress reactions. Second, the children's age and gender, parent's age, level of education and income were negatively and positively correlated to the father's and mother's reactions to their children's negative emotions.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of mother's and father's parenting behaviors and parenting involvement on prosocial behaviors of preschool children. The data were collected from 149 preschool children and their parents(149 mothers, 149 fathers). The collected data were analyzed by SPSS12.0 program for frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's test, multiple linear regression. The findings of this study are as follows :first, preschool children behaved prosocially more when their mothers or their fathers took warmth-acceptance of parenting behaviors. They showed lower prosocial behaviors when their fathers conducted more rejection-restriction or more permissiveness-nonintervention of parenting behaviors. Second, preschool children prosocially behaved more when their mothers and their fathers were more involved in parenting. Third, the most powerful predictor of prosocial behaviors was warmth-acceptance of parenting behaviors of their mothers.
The purposes of this study are to serve s$ the bsaic data for the guidance and the dffective preparation of children's room and the children's residing environment in addition, by grasping generally the residential consciousness of children and the consciousness of children's room. The data were analyzed using frequency, perecntile, anova, duncan's test, regression analysis. The major findings of this research are as follow: 1. It was found that many children wanted to have their own room because they are quiently able to study without being disturbed in their study. And it is shown that they were generally satisfied with the their own room. 2. There were significant differences in the consciousness of their own room according to the independent variables such as mother's age, father's job, the numbers of room. 3. The residential consciousness of children was variable according to father's age, mother's employment, the order of birth, income, the conditions of housing possession, parent's educational level, housing style, the numbers of room. 4. The mother's employment, father's educational level, the conditions of housing possession, the numbers of room, family numbers were significantly related to the evaluation of their own room. 5. Among the domains of the evaluation of their own room. the degree of width and the degree of convenience were variable to have influence on the satisfaction of their own room
This study was undertaken to investigate the inheritance in craniofacial complex among Korean familial members. The subjects were 160 lateral cephalometric radiographs from 45 families. Standard product-moment correlation coefficients(r) were calculated for the measurements between the familial pairings. Further, coefficients of $determination(r^2)$ were calculated and multiple regression analyses were performed to assess the use of parents' record for predicting an offspring's craniofacial features. The following results were obtained. 1. First-degree relatives had a high level of significant correlations which were compatible with a polygenic theory of inheritance than those of non-relatives. 2. Mother-daughter pair had the highest significant correlations, then mother-son and father-son pairs, and, finally, father-daughter pair had the lowest significant correlations. 3. The genetic influence was higher in anterior cranial base length and genial angle. In contrast, the environmental influence was higher in posterior border of ramus, maxillary ant. teeth, maxillary & mandibular apical bases and Gla-P. occ. 4. The predictability of offspring's cranio-facial growth could be improved by using multiple measurements from both parents than those from father or mother only.
The purpose of this article is to document the trend in studies on the role of the father. A large number of studies on parent-child relationships have been focused on the nature of mother-child relationships. Since the 1970s, the role of the father has become an increasingly popular topic in the U.S and Japan. Why has the father's role been forgotten for such a long time\ulcorner Why is the father's role being rediscovered in recent years\ulcorner Does the father have significant impact on child's development\ulcorner This proper reviews these issues in terms of sociocultural background, trends, and future implications of the studies. A comparison and determinants analysis regarding the extent of father-child interaction, of the lather's behavior, and its effects on the child in the U.S and Japan is provided.
The purpose of this study was to investigate adolescents' maladjustment in terms of type and source of social support. The main results of this study were as follows; 1. In social support source the mean score of peer support was higher than family support. In social support type the mean score of expressive support was higher than other support type. 2. Social support source was found significantly different according to sex of the children educational level of the father and mother. Malajustment were found significantly different according to sex of the children educational level of the father and mother income and marital satisfaction of the mother. 3. In social support source it was significantly different according to all maladjustment subscale in family support and to over-anxiousness social withdrawal and hyperactivity in peer support. In social support type it was significantly different according to over-anxiousness and social withdrawal in expressive support to socia withdrawal over-anxiousness hyperactivity and delinquency in esteem support and to over-anxiounsness in informational support.
This study was to investigate the effects of children's temperament, parenting behavior, and parenting stress on preschool children's prosocial behavior. The subjects were 190 children consisting of five and six years old and their mothers and fathers. They were selected from 6 kindergartens. Data was collected using the children's prosocial behavior index, the children's temperament index, the parenting behavior questionnaire, and the parenting stress questionnaire. The results were statistically analyzed using t-test, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The study showed that there were some significant differences in children's prosocial behavior according to the children's gender, but there were no significant differences according to the children's age. Correlation analysis indicated that the children's prosocial behavior and children's temperament had significant correlation, especially the children's adaptability and activity indicated high positive correlations. In addition, the children's prosocial behavior and mother's warmth acceptance behavior had significant high positive correlation, and father's rejection restriction behavior had significant high negative correlation. Also, correlation analysis indicated that the children's prosocial behavior and the mother's and father's stress of parent-child dysfunctional interaction and educational distress had significant negative correlations. It was also found that children's gender, mother's permissiveness non- intervention behavior, mother's educational distress, mother's stress of parent-child dysfunctional interaction, and father's stress of parent-child dysfunctional interaction were all significant predictors of the preschool children's prosocial behavior.
