Vision Inspection and Correction for DDI Protective Film Attachment

  • DDI(Display Driver IC) are used to drive numerous pixels that make up display. For stable driving of DDI, it is necessary to attach a protective film to shield electromagnetic waves. When the protective film is attached, defects often occur if the film is inclined or the center point is not aligned. In order to minimize such defects, an algorithm for correcting the center point and the inclined angle using camera image information is required. This technology detects the corner coordinates of the protective film by image processing in order to correct the positional defects where the protective film is attached. Corner point coordinates are detected using an algorithm, and center point position finds and correction values are calculated using the detected coordinates. LUT (Lookup Table) is used to quickly find out whether the angle is inclined or not. These algorithms were described by Verilog HDL. The method using the existing software requires a memory to store the entire image after processing one image. Since the method proposed in this paper is a method of scanning by adding a line buffer in one scan, it is possible to scan even if only a part of the image is saved after processing one image. Compared to those written in software language, the execution time is shortened, the speed is very fast, and the error is relatively small.

  • Doppler weather radar is an important tool for meteorological research. Through several decades of development, Doppler weather radar has enormous progress in understanding, detection and warning of meso and micro scale weather system. It makes a significant contribution to weather forecast and weather disaster warning. But the large amount of data process limits the application of Doppler weather radar. This paper proposed for fast weather radar data processing based on CUDA. CDUA is a powerful platform for highly parallel programming developed by NVIDIA. Through running plenty of threads, radar data can be calculated at same time. In experiment, CUDA parallel program can significantly improve weather data processing time.

비젼센서를 이용한 콘크리트 터널 라이닝 균열검사 시스템의 개발 (Development of Vision-Based Inspection System for Detecting Crack on the Lining of Concrete Tunnel)

  • To assess tunnel safety, cracks in tunnel lining are measured by inspectors who observe cracks with their eyes. A manual inspection is, however, slow and subjective. This paper, therefore, proposes vision-based inspection system for measuring cracks in the tunnel lining that inspects cracks fast and objective. The system is consisted of an on-vehicle system and a lab system. An on-vehicle system acquires image data with line CCD camera. A lab system extracts crack then inform their thickness, length and orientation by using image processing. To improve accuracy of crack recognition the geometric properties of a crack was applied to image processing. The proposed system were verified with experiments in both laboratory and field environment.

FWT-CIT를 적용한 그레이 영상의 의사컬러 변환 및 향상 (A Gray Image to Pseudocoloring Conversion and Enhancement Using FWT and CIT)

  • 본 논문은 그레이 영상을 컬러영상으로 변환하고 컬러농도를 변환하여 출력영상을 향상시킨 연구이다. RGB 컬러성분을 추출하기 위한 의사컬러링은 2D고속웨이브릿 변환(FWT)에 의한 필터뱅크 재배열을 적용하고 후처리에서 각각의 모노컬러는 노이즈제거와 영상향상을 위해 이산 컬러농도변환(CIT)을 적용한다. 실험결과 출력영상은 일반 웨이블릿 변환 적용보다 PSNR 30dB이상 개선된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 웨이브렛 변환 특성을 이용한 대역별 계층적 비트 플레인을 구성, 비트 플레인 별로 점진적 전송을 수행하는 새로운 영상 부호화 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방식은 Antonini의 웨이브렛 기저함수를 사용하여 대역 분할된 영상을 특정대역과 다양한 해상도를 갖는 대역들로 나누어 분리함으로써 다해상도를 지원한다. 대역별 특성을 고려한 부호화의 전송시 대역별 영상의 우선 순위를 고려할 수 있고, 영상의 고속 검색에도 응용 될 수 있다.

Design and Implementation of Hyperspectral Image Analysis Tool: HYVIEW

  • Hyperspectral images have shown a great potential for the applications in resource management, agriculture, mineral exploration and environmental monitoring. However, due to the large volume of data, processing of hyperspectral images faces some difficulties. This paper introduces the development of an image processing tool (HYVIEW) that is particularly designed for handling hyperspectral image data. Current version of HYVIEW is dealing with efficient algorithms for displaying hyperspectral images, selecting bands to create color composites, and atmospheric correction. Three band-selection schemes for producing color composites are available based on three most popular indexes of OIF, SI and CI. HYVIEW can effectively demonstrate the differences in the results of the three schemes. For the atmospheric correction, HYVIEW utilizes a pre-calculated LUT by which the complex process of correcting atmospheric effects can be performed fast and efficiently.

고속 컨텐츠 인식 동영상 리타겟팅 기법 (Fast Content-Aware Video Retargeting Algorithm)

  • 본 논문에서는 동영상의 주요 컨텐츠를 보존하면서 영상의 크기를 변환하는 고속 동영상 리타겟팅 기법을 제안한다. 기존의 Seam Carving에서는 seam을 하나씩 구할 때마다 누적 에너지의 갱신이 발생하며, 여기서 누적 에너지는 동적계획법을 이용하여 계산하기 때문에 전체 연산시간의 지연은 불가피하다. 본 논문에서는 전체 동영상을 특징이 서로 비슷한 scene으로 나누고, 각 scene의 첫 프레임에서는 seam이 될 수 있는 모든 후보들 중 복수개의 seam을 추출하여 누적 에너지의 갱신과정을 줄여 고속화한다. 또한 scene의 두 번째 프레임부터 인접한 프레임 상호간에 상관성을 이용하여, 연속하는 프레임은 누적 에너지를 계산하지 않고 이전 프레임의 seam 정보를 참조한 계산만으로 모든 seam을 추출한다. 따라서 제안하는 시스템은 누적 에너지에 계산되는 연산량을 대폭 줄였으며 전체 프레임의 분석도 필요하지 않아 고속화가 가능하고, 컨텐츠의 떨림 현상은 발생하지 않는다. 실험 결과는 제안하는 방법이 처리 속도와 메모리 사용량 면에서 실시간 처리에 적합하고, 영상이 가지고 있는 컨텐츠를 보존하면서 영상의 크기를 조절할 수 있음을 보여준다.

가산잡음에 대한 고속 메디안 필터 알고리즘 (A Fast Median Filter Algorithm for Noised Digital Image)

  • 가산잡음으로 훼손된 영상을 복원하는 Filter Algorithm 중 Mean Filter Algorithm은 화소들의 묶음을 산술평균한 값을 화소로 삼는다. 그러나 산술평균은 화소간의 편차를 고려하지 않으므로 편차가 심한 화소-윤곽선이 훼손되고, 화소들에 포함되지 않은 값이 화소로 채택될수 있다. 이를 보완한 Median Filter Algorithm은 화소들의 묶음을 정렬하여 중앙값을 화소로 삼아 편차가 심한 화소를 보존하고, 화소들에 포함되지 않은 값이 화소로 선택되는 오류를 방지한다. 그러나 Median Filter Algorithm은 화소들의 묶음을 정렬하고, 중위수를 구하는데 소모되는 시간이 Mean Filter Algorithm의 화소들의 평균을 구하는 시간보다 상대적으로 많이 소모되고, 잡음이 화소로 선택될 오류가 발생한다. 이러한 단점을 보완한 Fast Median Filter Algorithm을 제안한다. Fast Median Filter Algorithm은 훼손영상을 전체집합으로, 국부영상을 부분집합 1, 2로 두어 Median Filter Algorithm보다 효율적으로 화소들을 정렬한다. 시험결과는 IBM 기종(80586)에서 구동되었으며 기존의 Filter Algorithm들과 비교분석한 결과 Mean Filter Algorithm과 대등한 속도와 Median Filter Algorithm의 결과영상을 얻음으로서 Fast Median Filter Algorithm의 우수성을 확인할 수 있었다.

Fast and Accurate Visual Place Recognition Using Street-View Images

  • A fast and accurate building-level visual place recognition method built on an image-retrieval scheme using street-view images is proposed. Reference images generated from street-view images usually depict multiple buildings and confusing regions, such as roads, sky, and vehicles, which degrades retrieval accuracy and causes matching ambiguity. The proposed practical database refinement method uses informative reference image and keypoint selection. For database refinement, the method uses a spatial layout of the buildings in the reference image, specifically a building-identification mask image, which is obtained from a prebuilt three-dimensional model of the site. A global-positioning-system-aware retrieval structure is incorporated in it. To evaluate the method, we constructed a dataset over an area of $0.26km^2$. It was comprised of 38,700 reference images and corresponding building-identification mask images. The proposed method removed 25% of the database images using informative reference image selection. It achieved 85.6% recall of the top five candidates in 1.25 s of full processing. The method thus achieved high accuracy at a low computational complexity.

Fast image stitching method for handling dynamic object problems in Panoramic Images

  • The construction of panoramic images on smartphones and low-powered devices is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a new approach for smoothly stitching images on mobile phones in the presence of moving objects in the scene. Our main contributions include handling moving object problems, reducing processing time, and generating rectangular panoramic images. First, unique and robust feature points are extracted using fast ORB method and a feature matching technique is applied to match the extracted feature points. After obtaining good matched feature points, we employ the non-deterministic RANSAC algorithm to discard wrong matches, and the hommography transformation matrix parameters are estimated with the algorithm. Afterward, we determine precise overlap regions of neighboring images and calculate their absolute differences. Then, thresholding operation and noise removal filtering are applied to create a mask of possible moving object regions. Sequentially, an optimal seam is estimated using dynamic programming algorithm, and a combination of linear blending with the mask information is applied to avoid seam transition and ghosting artifacts. Finally, image-cropping operation is utilized to obtain a rectangular boundary image from the stitched image. Experiments demonstrate that our method is able to produce panoramic images quickly despite the existence of moving objects.
