The study was implemented by a descriptive survey method using a self-administerd questionnaire. The sample consisted of 224 female college students residing in Seoul and Busan. The data were analysed through frequency, factor analysis, and regression analysis. The results were as follows. First, it was observed that 42.40% of the respondents have had the experience of purchasing counterfeit items. The major reasons for purchasing counterfeit goods, it was discovered, were not only the low price but also their perceived good quality. • The purpose of this study was to identify the determinants of purchasing non-deceptive counterfeit luxury brands. As determinants, this study exmained subject-related variables(consumer ethnoncetrism and attitude toward counterfeit), product-related variable(similarity with originals), and social influence(social recognition by others). Data were gathered by surveying university students living in Seoul metropolitan area using convenient sampling, and 323 questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. In analyzing data, confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis were conducted using structural equation modeling. Results showed that consumers' attitudes toward counterfeits significantly influenced their attitudes toward purchasing counterfeit luxury brands which directly influence purchasing frequency of counterfeit luxury brands. Consumers who evaluated the counterfeit more similar to the originals had more positive attitudes toward purchasing counterfeit luxury brands. The results show why consumers have increasing demands for counterfeits and the implications for anti-counterfeit business are suggested.

  • Expanding upon Zhang and Kim's (2013) study involving Chinese consumers, this study investigated key factors that influence U.S. consumers' attitude towards purchasing luxury fashion goods and purchase intent and examined what similarities and differences exist between the two consumer groups in relation to the key factors. A total of 414 respondents completed the online survey questionnaire. Structural Equation Modeling was utilized to analyze data. Brand consciousness, materialism, fashion innovativeness, and fashion involvement were significant factors that affect U.S. consumers' attitude towards luxury fashion goods. Overall, the findings of the current study were greatly inconsistent with Zhang and Kim's Chinese study. The inconsistency provides vital implications to luxury fashion retailers by showing that one size does not fit all and one strategy does not fit all markets.

  • To generate future profits, luxury brands need to recognize and understand customers as individually important and analyze the impact factors that improve specific customer equity. With the growing recognition that customer equity is a key strategic asset, this study empirically investigates the effect of customer equity drivers on customer loyalty based on the study of Vogel et al.(2008) which expanded the Rust et al.(2000)'s study on customer equity. We empirically examine if the customer equity drivers have a different impact on customer loyalty. This study hypothesizes that the relative effect of customer equity drivers would be different depending on the purchasing behavior of consumers and examines the effects of them on the relationship of the drivers of customer equity and customer loyalty. We use stepwise multiple regression analysis to empirically test the relationship of value equity, brand equity, and relationship equity and customer loyalty. Relationship equity influences customer loyalty more strongly than value equity and brand equity. Customers seem to build loyalty based on the careful assessment of all costumer equity drivers (value equity, brand equity, and relationship equity). In addition, their relative impact is different depending on the purchasing behavior of consumers. A company cannot maintain all customer equity drivers at a high level with limited marketing resources; therefore, marketing investment for all customer equity drivers need to be allocated differentially depending on the purchasing behavior of consumers.

To investigate online luxury fashion brand consumer's purchase behavior, three variables were suggested based on advanced researches. These variables include economic value, item variety and pleasure. Purchasing luxury online was not common but as cross-border online shopping market became popular, consumers began to purchase luxury items through online shopping platforms. Preliminary surveys was conducted on 20~40-year-old consumers who have experience in online shopping for luxurious items. Total 238 questionnaires were used for analysis. By using SPSS, frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, t-test and ANOVA were conducted. The results of the study were as follow; first, consumer's purchase behavior appeared to be influenced by the order of pleasure of shopping, economic value and item variety. Repurchase intention appeared to be affected by the order of economic value, item variety, and pleasure of shopping. Second, online luxury fashion consumers perceived that risk does not affect purchase intention and repurchase intention. Third, as purchase intention increases, repurchase intention also increases. Fourth, shopping value, age and channel risk also indicated meaningful differences. As an early study of luxury fashion brand products purchased directly online, the academic significance can facilitate an overall understanding of consumer behavior such as usage motive, risk perception, behavioral intention.
