A Survey for the Development of a 3D Printing Related Course in Fashion Design Department (3D 프린팅 관련 교과목 개발을 위한 기초 연구 - 전문대학 패션디자인과를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide fundamental data for the development of new course on 3D printing in the fashion design department. In order to investigate the perception of and educational needs in 3D printing, the data were collected from 266 students (female 68.8%, male 31.2%) majoring in fashion design aged 18-25 living in the capital area. The results of this survey showed that when investigating perceptions of 3D printing, it was found that 68.8% of answerers had indeed heard of 3D printing. Regarding the path they came to know about 3D printing, mass media such TV was the most frequent answer (54.6%). On the other hand, to the question asking about their intention to take the subject if given, approximately 71% said "Yes". Also, if a modeling class were given, the division that they wanted to explore most in the fashion industry was fashion jewelry. Finally, to the question asking interest in starting a business, 71.1% answered that they had interest. Out of those that answered that they had interest, when questioned about in which field they wanted to start a business, the most frequent answer was fashion online shopping mall. Finally, NCS-based 3D printing courses were suggested in the Fashion Design area. As 3D printing techniques are actively applied to the fashion industry overseas, creative education is needed through the integration of fashion and 3D printing technology by introducing 3D printing related programs in colleges.

Development of Fashion Design Applying Code and Tape Trimming Decoration Techniques of Computer Embroidery Machine (컴퓨터 자수기계 코드 및 테이프 트리밍 장식기법을 활용한 패션디자인 개발)

  • Purpose of this study is to develop fashion design with greater added value and to seek the expandability of its expression domain by applying special computer code and tape embroidery machine capable of creating more special and fancier fashion to the development of fashion design by focusing on the fashion decorations that are becoming increasingly more computer systematized. For this purpose, expression techniques and effects of computer embroidery machine code and tape trimming decoration techniques, and cases of modern fashion design are examined. Major images are then deduced to designing and production of actual 6 creative pieces equipped with creativity and commercial value by applying such images deduced. As the results, it is not only possible to develop highly value added fashion design by utilizing mixed computer embroidery machine code and tape trimming decoration technique but also to produce countlessly new and unique surfaces by inducing changes in diversified pattern expressions, thickness of cord thread, and width, color and texture of material, etc. of the tape. This can maximize the expression domain of design, and fulfill the fashion desires of consumers wanting modern enhancement of quality and individualization. If multilateral attempts and studies for the aforementioned purposes can be expanded continuously, it is deemed possible to broaden the range of expression techniques in fashion design and, moreover, to make contribution towards enhancement of competitiveness of fashion industry.

A Study on the Development of Fashion Sensibility (패션감성의 측정도구 개발에 관한 연구(제1보))

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the measurement of the fashion sensibility. The stimulus were 91 photos selected in fashion magazines and had dominant visual power under detail, color, texture and pattern in the elements of fashion design. The semantic differential scale was constructed bipolar 25 pairs. The obtained data were analyzed by cluster analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA and t-test. The results were as follows; 1. The hierarchical structure was combined a natural and interesting, sensitive and lovely fashion sensibility. 2. The constructing factors of fashion sensibility were found out as aesthetic value, maturity, character and femininity·masculinity.(total variance: 55.7%) 3. Fashion sensibility by elements of fashion design was significantly different regarding all factors. 4. Fashion sensibility by demographic variables sex, age, marriage, education, occupation and expenditure was significantly different regarding partial factors.

  • Fashion has been compared to art since Japanese avant-garde fashion designers expanded the thoughts about conceptual fashion in late 1970s. The fashion designers focused on the materiality of fashion textiles by placing more importance on it than the shapes. This bears a striking resemblance to contemporary art of 1960s and 1970s as many artists used soft materials like felt, fabric, rubber to emphasize themselves. This study establishes the materiality of fabric, which can be found in both contemporary art and fashion. The classification of materiality consists of flexibility, humanizing and temporality. In this work, there is a significant disparity between contemporary art and fashion.

  • In this study, the fashion show of the disabled was hold for the universal fashion through the clothes which has relationship with personal mentality and behavior. There are several outcome of the fashion show. First of all, the main outcome is that through the fashion show the disabled fret that there is no difference between them and the ordinary people. Also, it is necessary to the revitalize the product development with universal fashion design. Secondly, the systematic succeeding study is necessary to solve the problem of the disabled and to set up the database management system in order to have a general idea for the their actual living condition and essentials of life for the disabled. Thirdly, even though the main purpose of the fashion show was to give them an opportunity to live fairly as a human being within their society, after the show, the necessity of social system to solve the additional problems and to continue the mental satisfaction comes. Fourthly, the disable have a tendency not to wear the special clothes for them since they want to be seen as the ordinary person. Finally, I suggest that there must be revitalization of a special design and the product development to reflect above mentioned points in addition to ordinary clothes.

Comparison between 2030 and 5060 segmented markets for loyalty in the fashion accessory market of luxury brand (럭셔리브랜드 패션잡화시장에서의 충성도에 대한 2030과 5060 세분시장 간의 비교)

  • Recently, the luxury brand market has expanded from the 5060 market to the 2030 market segment due to diversification of distribution channels, an increase in income, and changes in consumption values. This change is attributed to the increase in sales of fashion accessory products, such as bags and wallets, thereby confirming the importance of the luxury brand fashion accessories market. However, there are few studies of the luxury brand fashion accessories market or brand loyalty for fashion accessories, which accounts for a large proportion of the overall luxury brand market. The purpose of this study was to develop and empirically test a theoretical framework that captures and compares the difference of impact of service quality, product attributes, and consumer satisfaction on luxury brand loyalty between the 20-30 market and the 5060 market of the fashion accessories market. Data was collected from 598 customers who purchased luxury brand fashion accessories by objective sampling. Structural equation modelling was used to test the hypotheses developed for the study. Results found evident effects of consumer satisfaction on luxury brand loyalty through the perception of service quality by consumers. Additionally, in the 2030 market, the fashion accessory attributes had little impact on consumer satisfaction and luxury brand loyalty, whereas in the 5060 market, it had a significant impact only on consumer satisfaction, but not on luxury brand loyalty. This is the first study to examine a structural equation model of luxury brand loyalty to compare the difference of the model between segmented markets, such as the 2030 market and the 5060 market of the luxury brand fashion accessories market. These results will contribute to a better understanding of the mechanism that underlie the operation of an effective luxury branding strategy for fashion accessories.

  • The painting style has much influenced on the creativity of design in the developmental process of modern fashion. This fact tells that pure art and fashion design have the same purpose in the end. In this paper. the color Autonomy of Matisse was analyzed and how its result influences on modern fashion design was investigated. Matisse is, in fact. the leader of Fauvism and the painter who brought the Fauvism painting to its perfection in the purest state. Matisse achieved the revolution of new color with only the color in expressing formative factor. Matisse's color autonomy are fusion technique, flatness, decoration, simplicity, etc. To sum up the influence that this autonomy played on modern fashion design, intensive pure color expression, strongly-supplemented color effect among primary colors, decoration of color, simplicity of color, that is to say. he gave rise to the revolution of color, Many modern designers are applying this method to the theme of fashion and motive, color the technique of expression. Thanks to this. the new formative artistic expression could be adapted in fashion, and it also induced the inspiration of original design, with great contribution to bringing the era of its own distinct individualism in modern times.

  • The Purpose of this study is to demonstrate Storytelling as an effective device for Fashion Design by establishing relationship between Fashion Design Process and Storytelling. Through researching a social background and a concept of storytelling, found that story used interactively is a powerful tool for attention, understanding and change in both individuals and communities. Analysed the elements and the structure of storytelling and Fashion Design Process, by researching preceding researches. Therefore, we proposed a new four elements -text factor, visual factor, audio factor and virtual factor- and four steps (1)exploring stories, (2)planning a story, (3)building the story, (4)do storytelling- of storytelling and four steps-(1)gathering and analysing informations, (2)building a concept, (3)planning and developing a design, (4)do evaluation and make decision- of fashion design process. Through comparative analysis, we found a closeness between two structures, a use of common factors and also found characteristics to be considered in each stage. In the first stage, we found text, visual and audio factor as common factors. In the second stage, we suggested text and visual factor as common factors and also suggested clarity, realism and probability as characteristics. In the third stage, we found text, visual and virtual factor and also found dynamism, immersion and continuity. In the last stage, we suggested text, visual, virtual and audio factor and also suggested presence and interactivity as characteristics.

A Study on the Trend Analysis of Jean's Fashion according to Characteristics of Design (디자인 특성을 통한 진패션의 경향 분석 연구)

  • This study compares the trend analysis for characteristics of design from 2007 to 2011. According to analyzed results for each year's jean fashion, the 2007's aesthetic feature was a unified and simple design. From 2008 to 2010, the design features were various and rich, and features of 2011 were defined by simplicity with diversity. S/S season's feature were more diverse and balanced than the F/W season. Particularly, washing techniques represent a distinct skill, regardless of season. An analysis of each collection showed that the Paris collection had different and diverse forms; however, it was gorgeous to enjoy the design of a young sense in Milano. London's jean fashion was pale, light, and a dull tone. New York's jean fashion presented a young and practical value to catch other's eyes. There is a need to increase and increase the expectations of customer desire and the high value-added jean fashion industry. New ideas need to be developed for varieties of design and expression of techniques.

  • To cope with the threats posed by climate change actively, this study tries to examine multi-functional fashion design with the moral awareness of environment, which could be a direct cause of climate change. Literature and patents on multi-functional fashion design following climate change at home and abroad are examined to find the trend of multi-functional fashion designs. And fashion design that can protect human body to cope with climate change is analyzed. This study found that first, it is necessary to recognize the environment problems in the design process so that material is used to the minimum to minimize pollution and enable welfare and continuation of human society; second, environmentally friendly production and rational consumption such as manual production without waste of energy and material need to be favored to minimize the destruction of environment; third, to cope with environment and climate changes, design that allows an item to have diverse functions is needed so that it can have varied lengths, widths, and thicknesses, and it can be put on and taken off.
